Chapter 2690 Seventh Order, Sneak Attack
Whoosh!
Su Mo flew quickly, fleeing towards the Space Beast’s sea of consciousness.
Behind him, Murong Qi and thousands of others sped up, and it would not be long before they caught up with him.
“Cease and desist, otherwise don’t blame me for going rough on you!” Murong Qi’s cold voice sounded, but she could not help wondering: Su Mo had barely defended himself before running away so decisively, could it be that he really had a token on his person?
But it was only a slim chance, for he had obviously had a rough patch with Zi Xiao. Most probably, Zi Xiao had deliberately planted charges on him.
If so, she would want to get to the bottom of this.
“Idiots, all of you!” Su Mo roared, showing a frosty grin. The bunch of people came at him right after listening to Zi Xiao’s single statement. They were nothing but fools.
He did not plan to stop. He probably would not die even if he was caught, but he would surely be thoroughly investigated.
Thus, he would rather run to avoid it. Moreover, he hoped they would keep chasing him, and to keep doing so beyond the realm. So, he had defused his anger and turned to mock them on purpose. “You have a death wish!” Murong Qi was immediately fired up after hearing what he said. No one had ever dared to say that to her face.
Those on her side were equally angered too, brimming with even more killing intent.
Originally, they had not planned to move in for the kill. They had only wanted to capture Su Mo and search him.
They did not fully believe Zi Xiao, but the temptation to join the headquarters was dangling right there. This was what the billions of disciples in the Ancient Cloud Star Alliance had been dreaming of.
They had spent many years training just for this objective.
So, no matter how slim the odds were, they would not give up. They would capture Su Mo and search him thoroughly.
But now Su Mo’s slander had totally infuriated the lot of them.
“Kill him!”
“He’s looking for trouble!” “Kill him, and we’ll find out about the tokens!”
The large group roared. And then, one after another, they began their attack on Su Mo.
Even Murong Qi went on the offence. With so many attacks happening at once, there were blazing lights everywhere, creating a terrifying scene. Within the Space Beast’s body, no one dared to come between them.
But they were still far away from Su Mo. He had yet to be affected.
Su Mo wanted nothing to do with them as he continued to flee. He directly dove into one of the Space Beast’s cerebral vascular vessels in the brain.
“Come on then! Let’s see if we can turn this around!”
Su Mo remained expressionless as he passed through the vessels. He did not trigger any protective powers and allowed the blood pressure to press on him. He tried his best to stabilize his body and continued his journey.
Even the Space Beast’s cerebral vascular vessels came with a large open space. It was like swimming in an ocean. Whoosh!!
Murong Qi and the rest would not let go of Su Mo so easily. All of them gave chase and entered the vessels too.
But the pressure in the Space Beast’s vessels was much too strong. They were unable to locate Su Mo’s position.
Some of them considered their odds for a while. Then they decided to give up the chase and proceeded to back out.
Murong Qi and the remaining majority did not. Still staying strong, they all pushed forward.
But the blood vessels in the Space Beast extended endlessly. After chasing for a while, they still could not catch up to Su Mo. Some of them eventually turned back and gave up the chase.
Pang Lin was one of the disciples from the Qing Hua Branch. He had been chasing after Su Mo alongside Murong Qi, but after trying to track the man down among the vessels, he had given up and reluctantly turned back.
“Wu Shan’s really fast!” He muttered, his face sinking as he passed through the vessels alone on his way back to the Space Beast’s sea of consciousness.
He had gone chasing after Su Mo not because of the token. He was sure Su Mo did not have any with him.
He had gone chasing after Su Mo because, firstly, he wanted to take credit. As long as Su Mo was killed, regardless of who killed him, Pang Lin could take credit from Reverend Tian Jue and be rewarded for it.
Secondly, he had done it to secure his future. Zi Xiao seemed to be Young Master Liu Yun’s servant, and the Young Master seemed to have a bone to pick with Su Mo. So, if Pang Lin managed to kill Su Mo, he could use that to suck up to the Young Master.
He was merely a Middle-rank Supreme Being with above average talents. It was practically impossible for him get his hands on a token and join the headquarters as a disciple. But, if he could butter up Young Master Liu Yun, things could go differently.
According to the regulations set by the Ancient Cloud Star Alliance, disciples of the headquarters could keep up to five servants on the Suspended Holy Mountain. Each disciple could decide for themselves who they wanted to choose to take as servants and whether or not they want to do so.
There had been many in the past who, unable to become disciples of the headquarters themselves, had ultimately let go of their pride and become servants there for the sake of their future.
Pang Lin considered that. He considered sucking up to Young Master Liu Yun and becoming the man’s servant. But he was frustrated by his inability to catch Su Mo.
“The blood of this Space Beast is quite strong indeed!” Pang Lin signed as he observed the blood drifting all around him. He supposed the vessels would make a good hiding place and wondered if any of the Supreme Realm top powers were hiding in there.
While he was thinking about that, a sharp sword light suddenly appeared from the side, striking him directly.
“What?”
Pang Lin was horror-struck, his hairs standing on end. The attack had come out of the blue. He had been surrounded by the immense pressure of the blood, blocking his perception so much that he had not noticed anyone’s presence.
In a flash, before he had time to take cover, he quickly blocked the attack with his fist.
A fist brandished with the Flame-based Force heavily slammed into the sword light.
But Pang Lin was too weak and, in addition to the hurried move, he had failed to unleash his full power and was unable to block the attack.
Boom!
There was an explosion as the sword light cut through his body, tearing him apart. His Primordial Spirit was heavily damaged. “This is your price to pay for coming after me!” said a cold voice. Su Mo emerged and, triggering his devouring power, proceeded to devour Pang Lin’s Primordial Spirit as well as the surrounding blood. And then, in a flash, Su Mo hid in the blood. “Not bad, attainment of the Flame Rule, Sixth Order Great Completion!”
In his hiding place, Su Mo examined the attainment he had just devoured. It belonged to the Flame Rule, which was exactly what he needed.
Most martial artists had chosen to study the Rules of the Five Elements. Su Mo noticed that many of those who had been chasing after him happened to be training under this Rule. This person was one of them.
Then, Su Mo began to fuse the attainment of the Flame Rule, upgrading himself in the process.
He had angered them in the first place to lure them here, where he could use his Devouring Rule.
He had long ago realized that his skills were too weak. It would be difficult to retrieve a token or fight against Zi Xiao and Di Yihun like this.
Only by upgrading his strength could he turn the tide in his favor.
After reaching the Supreme Being stage, advancement was no longer limited by Source Power, but by Rule power instead. His Rule power was quite low, which slowed down his advancement. Only by devouring attainments of the Rules and subsequently improving his Rule power could be make a fast breakthrough Su Mo already possessed the Flame Rule, albeit at Sixth Order Middle Phase. Now that he had gotten his hands on the attainments for Sixth Order Great Completion, he was confident he could raise the power of his Flame Rule to the Seventh Order.
Just as well, Su Mo had long mastered the art of fusing attainments. So, it was not long before he managed to fuse it.
The vast path of the Flame Rule was clear as day in his mind as it fused consistently with the one he had previously mastered before.
It took a long while before everything was finished. Su Mo opened his eyes, this time flashing with formless flames.
Seventh Order Beginning Phase!
Just as he had expected, after fusing the attainments for the Flame Rule at Sixth Order Great Completion, he had managed to advance his own Flame Rule to Seventh Order Beginning Phase. It had become his strongest and highest-ranking Rule power so far.
“Now that my Flame Rule has reached Seventh Order, I wonder if I could break through by devouring tons of Dawn Stones?” Su Mo pondered. Previously when he had been charging to get past the Supreme Being Realm, his Rule of Five Elements and Rule of Flame had not been compatible with his training. He had ended up spending a lot more time boosting his Devouring Rule before he had managed a breakthrough.
So, Su Mo was unsure whether his training could speed up now that his Flame Rule had achieved Seventh Order. After all, this was a stolen skill.
Taking in a deep breath, Su Mo got ready to devour heaps of Dawn Stones in an attempt to get past the Middle-rank Supreme Being Realm.
“Eh?”
Just then, his eyes flashed. He sensed someone heading towards the Space Beast’s sea of consciousness. It could be one of the people who had been chasing after him.
When he had been fusing the attainments a while ago, he had realized a lot of people were going back the way they came. It was still happening
He could detect the presence of others, not because he had great mental strength, but because of his immobile state. He could tell really quickly because the blood pressure around him fluctuated whenever there was movement.
Slowly, he stood up, converged his aura as best as he could, and waited.
Based on the fluctuations, there were two people this time, but Su Mo showed no fear.
Those who dared to come after him would pay.
“Senior Murong, we’re wasting time! Who knows where he’s gone!”
A handsome young man in black joined Murong Qi. He expressed his anger as they glided through the bloodstream. “He probably doesn’t have a token with him!” Murong Qi, wearing a tight leather suit, was a tad taller than the man in black. She spoke to him in a plain, indifferent manner.
“I know that. I’m just here to help you. But that rascal had the gall to slander us. He deserves to die!” the man in black said coldly as he observed Murong Qi’s figure from top to bottom.
“Let’s go and destroy the Beast Soul. We might not stand a chance by the time Ba Shiyu and Shi Zixuan come!” Murong Qi said.
“Relax, Senior Murong. I’ll help you with that!” said the young man in black, in all seriousness. He was not as strong as Murong Qi, and he had next to zero chance of killing the Beast Soul, so he wanted to help Murong Qi in whatever way he could.
Once Murong Qi destroyed the Beast Soul, she would become Tai Ying Sovereign’s disciple and, taking that a step further, the headquarters’ disciple as well. By then, he could follow her into the headquarters.
He would be willing to do so even if it meant becoming Murong Qi’s servant.
To stay by his goddess’ side would be such a blissful thing, even as a slave.
Hum
Just then, their faces fell as they suddenly detected a huge sense of crisis rising within them.
