Awkward

Feng Jing and the division two officers got along quite well, but it wasn’t because he was good at socializing. It was because Feng Jing was a legend at the station, everyone was looking at him through tinted lenses.

Who wouldn’t like a senior who was outstanding and generous at the same time?

The drinking session finally came to an end. The two officers who didn’t drink drove Captain Chen and Deputy Captain Zhang home separately. The rest of the people also left together. Only Yin Tao and Bai Luo were left at the entrance of the restaurant to support a staggering Xia Jin.

“If you can’t drink, don’t play the hero!” Bai Luo looked at the drunk Xia Jin and complained, “If I weren’t your partner, I would have thrown you by the side of the road!”

“Alright, let’s take a taxi back to the police station together.” Bai Luo was very strong and could support Xia Jin alone. Yin Tao wanted to go to the roadside to hail a taxi, but she was stopped by Bai Luo. “Didn’t you come with Captain Feng? He’s still settling the bill inside. Do you want to wait for him?”

Looking at Bai Luo’s knowing gaze, Yin Tao realized that this girl must have misunderstood her relationship with Feng Jing. She quickly explained, “What is there to wait? Let me tell you, don’t talk nonsense in the police station in the future. Didn’t you hear Captain Feng say that he doesn’t want to date now?”

When Yin Tao saw Bai Luo staring past her, she also turned around.

Feng Jing, who had just paid the bill, came out of the restaurant and heard Yin Tao’s words clearly.

The atmosphere was a little awkward. Coincidentally, a taxi pulled up by the roadside. Yin Tao was about to go forward when she saw Bai Luo dragging Xia Jin over.

She opened the car door in one go and threw Xia Jin in. She turned around and shouted to Feng Jing, “Commander Feng, I’ll leave Xiaotao to you. Xia Jin and I will leave first!”

As she watched the taxi leave, the corners of Yin Tao’s eyes twitched. That wretched girl, Bai Luo, just couldn’t wait for her to die of embarrassment.

“I’ll take a taxi back myself…” Before Yin Tao could finish her sentence, she saw a champagne-colored medium-sized SUV parked in front of her.

When Lin Jia saw Yin Tao and Feng Jing, he got out of the car.

“Little Sister Xiaotao, we… meet again.” Lin Jia scratched his head awkwardly and said to Yin Tao with a smile, “I’m here to send you and Feng Jing back. Get in the car.”

“I can do it myself…” Yin Tao felt a little uncomfortable. She was always a little uneasy when interacting with a male supporting character in the novel, like Lin Jia and Feng Jing.

“Do you think I ran out of the house in the middle of the night just to see Feng Jing? I’m here to pick you up. Give me some face, Little Sister Xiaotao.” Lin Jia smiled gently. His slender peach blossom eyes curved into two crescent moons, making it difficult for anyone to refuse.

Looking at the fawning Lin Jia, Feng Jing couldn’t help but roll his eyes and say to Yin Tao, “Little Yin, get in the car. It would be a waste not to use a free chauffeur!”

Feng Jing brazenly took the front passenger seat. Yin Tao couldn’t refuse and sat in the back seat.

Lin Jia looked at Feng Jing who was a little tipsy and could not help but smile. “Damn ice cube, you really know how to order people around, don’t you!”

Lin Jia had been in the bureaucracy for many years and was very adept at lightening the atmosphere. Along the way, he kept up the small talk with Yin Tao.

Feng Jing looked at Lin Jia who was chattering non-stop and felt a little annoyed. He wasn’t usually so noisy. Feng Jing felt a little dizzy, and rested his head against the window while massaging his temples.

“Captain Feng, are you alright?” Yin Tao asked worriedly when she saw that Feng Jing looked sick.

“I’m fine. I just drank too much. I’ll be fine after going home and sleeping.” Feng Jing looked at Yin Tao’s small and fair face in the rearview mirror and felt a little better.

“Go back and drink some snow pear juice with honey. It will help with the hangover,” Yin Tao said, not noticing Feng Jing’s gaze.

“Alright, I understand.”

When the car arrived at the entrance of the police station, Yin Tao thanked Feng Jing and Lin Jia before walking back to the dormitory.

Lin Jia watched Yin Tao’s backview gradually disappear, and couldn’t help but exclaim, “Little Sister Xiaotao doesn’t look like a forensic doctor at all.”

Feng Jing looked at Lin Jia’s incredulous face and asked, “What do you think a forensic doctor should look like then?”

“At the very least she should look like your type.” Lin Jia saw Feng Jing’s sullen face and continued with a smile, “That’s right, this is the look on your face when you are dealing with the dead. Little Sister Xiaotao’s smile is so sweet, she doesn’t look like one at all.”

“I feel that I’ve always been dealing with you.” Feng Jing looked at Lin Jia and felt that he was especially annoying tonight.

“Brother, don’t curse me!” Lin Jia smiled bitterly and started the car. He said to Feng Jing, “Alright, I’ll repay evil with kindness. I’ll be a free chauffeur all the way and send you home!”

“Let’s go to the supermarket first.” Feng Jing’s eyes were half-closed. He was a little tired after a long day.

“Why? Aren’t you full yet?” Lin Jia glanced at Feng Jing beside him as he drove.

“Buy a few pears and go home to make some juice.” Feng Jing’s voice was a little lazy, adding a sense of comfort to the night.
