Chapter 1148 The Flute Player

Facing Murong Die’s questioning, Liu Yi was relatively calm, while Wang Lele blushed.

“Perhaps some of Lele’s powers have awakened,” Liu Yi said nonchalantly. “Each of us has some potential for cultivation. Who knows, maybe one day you’ll awaken too.”

“Really?”

Murong Die was somewhat skeptical. Was Liu Yi telling the truth?

“Of course! Don’t you want to awaken someday?”

“Well, I do…”

Murong Die was a little envious of Lele’s powers. It was like having a modern-day superwoman, looking strong and powerful.

“Lele, focus on your breathing, and try to slowly control your power,” Liu Yi instructed.

“But… but these things feel so fragile… like they’ll shatter if I touch them…”

“Yes, but so are ceramics and paper,” Liu Yi reminded her. “Imagine everything is as delicate as porcelain or paper. With such a gentle approach, they won’t break when you touch them.”

“I’ll give it a try…”

Wang Lele took a deep breath, her chest swelling as she steadied herself. She slowly reached out and gently touched another table nearby. This time, the table remained intact, unharmed.

“Woo-hoo… I did it…”

Wang Lele began to control her power. As she stepped on the floor, there were no footprints left behind.

“I’m not the queen of destruction anymore! Woo-hoo…”

Wang Lele excitedly said.

“Congratulations, Comrade Wang Lele! You did it!” Liu Yi shook Wang Lele’s hand. “You didn’t let the party and the people down!”

“Come on, stop it,” Murong Die rolled her eyes at Liu Yi. “Don’t tease Lele like that. You’re not a national leader. Lele, let’s go find a place to eat after we finish shopping.”

“Okay… I want to eat spicy crab…”

Wang Lele, who had just gained her powers, was a bit hungry. She patted her flat stomach and said.

“Alright, let’s go eat spicy crab.”

The girls were never picky about food, whether it was a high-end or low-end restaurant. The four of them left the private room and went to the manager to tally the damages, then compensated accordingly.

For Murong Die, this was a trivial matter.

As they walked out of the store, they noticed a female staff member anxiously standing at the entrance, trying to hail a taxi.

But it was rush hour, and all the taxis were full.

The staff member tried for a long time but couldn’t get a taxi, and she was sweating with anxiety.

Liu Yi stepped forward and said, “You won’t be able to get a taxi at this time. You should take the bus instead.”

“I can’t, taking the bus would be too slow!”

The saleswoman, probably in her thirties and quite pretty, replied, “My daughter is about to finish kindergarten, and I’ll be late if I don’t pick her up now.”

Liu Yi looked back at Murong Die and the others, and the girls nodded in unison.

“Let’s go. We’ll give you a ride,” Liu Yi offered. “Our car is parked in the parking lot.”

“Oh, I really can’t impose like that!”

The saleswoman knew that these people were wealthy and probably wouldn’t harm her. However, she still felt embarrassed about taking advantage of their car.

“It’s fine. We’re just being helpful like Lei Feng,” Liu Yi laughed. Wang Lele took the initiative to pull the saleswoman along with them to the parking lot.

The saleswoman, anxious to see her daughter, reluctantly got into the car.

“I had to cover for a coworker today, otherwise I would have left earlier,” she explained as she got into the car. “By the way, my name is Chen Hong. Thank you for helping me today. If it weren’t for you, my daughter would have had to wait a long time.”

“Sister Chen, don’t mention it. We have a car, so it’s convenient,” Wang Yuzheng replied with her sweet voice, still wearing her sunglasses to avoid any unnecessary trouble.

“You guys are so kind-hearted. I’ll introduce my daughter to you later. She’s four years old, very well-behaved, and the apple of our eyes!”

“Uh-huh, I’m looking forward to meeting this little friend,” Wang Lele chimed in. “I really like children!”

“Then you should work hard and have a baby with your brother Yi!” Murong Die teased, causing Wang Lele to stomp her foot in embarrassment, making the car shake violently.

“Lele! Calm down!” Liu Yi, covered in cold sweat, reminded her. “Little Die, don’t tease Lele all the time. She’s not someone you can mess with now…”

“I… I forgot…” Murong Die wiped the sweat off her forehead, thinking to herself that Lele had become too powerful to mess with. Lele, knowing she had caused trouble, blushed and lowered her head, not daring to say a word.

Chen Hong, unaware of what had happened, looked at these wealthy people curiously.

They seemed quite different from the other wealthy people she had encountered before, both warm-hearted and somewhat odd…

Were there some peculiar individuals among the wealthy?

Following Chen Hong’s directions, Liu Yi continued driving.

Meanwhile, at the entrance of the kindergarten, a cute little girl stood waiting for her mother.

“Hong Hong, why isn’t your mom here yet?”

The kindergarten teacher squatted down beside the little girl and asked, “Where’s your mom?”

“She might be busy; she’ll be here soon!” the little girl replied, her voice soft and tender.

“Ah, Hong Hong is such a good girl,” the teacher couldn’t help but stroke Hong Hong’s hair.

Just then, a man approached, playing a flute. Several children trailed behind him, their eyes vacant, mechanically following the man.

Hong Hong shuddered, her eyes becoming blank as she stumbled toward the man.

“Hong Hong!” The teacher, shocked, tried to stop the little girl. But the man glanced at her, and she fell to the ground, unconscious.

Hong Hong joined the line of children, following the man as they left the street.

Shortly after they left, Liu Yi’s car slowly pulled up in front of the kindergarten.

Upon exiting the car, Chen Hong and the others saw many police officers at the entrance.

“What’s going on? Where’s my Hong Hong?” Chen Hong hurriedly asked, her face turning pale upon hearing the news.

“Hong Hong is missing?”

Chen Hong felt as if she were going mad; losing her daughter was worse than death!

“My daughter, my daughter! Give me back my daughter!” Chen Hong cried out.

The police officers tried to console her, holding her back.

Liu Yi and Murong Die couldn’t help but come forward to inquire about the situation. Murong Die raised an eyebrow upon hearing the news, “What? Child trafficking? How could this happen?”

“I heard many children have gone missing around here,” Wang Lele also gathered information from a police officer. “How despicable! Who could be kidnapping children? That’s so evil!”

“My child, my child!” Chen Hong sobbed, her face soaked with tears. Wang Yuzheng had to support her to keep her from collapsing.

“Don’t worry, I’ll help you find her,” Liu Yi said, feeling very uncomfortable. Who could be so heartless, targeting these innocent children?

“Don’t cause any trouble!” a police officer warned Liu Yi. “Leave this matter to us. You can wait for news at home.”

Liu Yi pulled out an identification card and showed it to the officer.

The officer’s demeanor changed immediately, showing respect as he saluted Liu Yi.

Liu Yi nodded, “I’ll take charge of this case now. It’s likely not an ordinary one.”

He sensed an unusual presence here, something beyond that of an ordinary person.

“Understood, sir! We’ll leave it to you!” the officer acknowledged.

The police began to reassure the others, “The case has been handed over to higher authorities, and there will be results soon. Everyone can go home and wait with peace of mind!”

Chen Hong grabbed Liu Yi’s hand, “Sir, you must help, you must help!”

In her eyes, wealthy people like Liu Yi were capable. She believed he would have the ability to help.

Liu Yi nodded and comforted her, “Don’t worry, I’ll definitely find them.”

Although Liu Yi couldn’t use his divine power to pinpoint the exact location of the child trafficker, he could sense the person’s lingering aura.

As long as he followed this aura, he would surely find the culprit.

“I’ll go find that person; you all wait here for me,” Liu Yi instructed.

“No, I’m going with you!” Murong Die insisted. “You can’t just leave me behind like that!”

Liu Yi was quite annoyed; this girl really knew how to create trouble.

“Me too!” Wang Yuzheng chimed in. “You always leave us behind. We’re not children, we can protect ourselves!”

“Yeah, yeah, I’ve even learned self-defense for women!” Murong Die boasted, causing Liu Yi to feel overwhelmed.

“Please… What use is women’s self-defense in this situation? This is not a joke!”

“Ha, can’t you even protect us?” Murong Die challenged Liu Yi.

“Who says I can’t? Fine, come along!” Liu Yi felt like he had fallen for their provocation, but then again, he was indeed capable of protecting them.

“Great!” Murong Die and Wang Yuzheng high-fived each other, while Wang Lele could only watch the commotion.

“I… I want to go too!” Chen Hong added, “I must see my daughter, I beg you!”

Liu Yi reluctantly agreed, “Alright, everyone get in the car.”

At this critical moment, he had no other choice. Whether it was one sheep or two, it didn’t matter if there was an extra person.

The group got into the car, and Liu Yi slowly started the engine.

Liu Yi faintly saw a dark line stretching out in front of him. He followed this path in the car, chasing the culprit into the distance.

Meanwhile, little Hong Hong followed the man into a mysterious factory.

Inside the factory were many nutrient tanks. Hypnotized, Hong Hong walked into one of the tanks.

Beside her were numerous nutrient tanks, each containing a child.

Many of the children had already changed in appearance, their skin turning green and scales forming on their bodies.

“My little darlings… The rise of the empire depends on you!”
