Chapter 849: Suffering the Consequences of One’s Own Actions (4)

“Yes, yes,” Wen Ruo hurriedly agreed.

After all, she didn’t have a choice.

Then, Zhai Yunsheng’s bodyguard handed Wen Ruo a skipping rope.

“Do his words count?” Cai Qinyue asked. “Can you promise to withdraw the lawsuit against my daughter if she skips five thousand times?”

Upon being asked this, Jian Yuncheng replied: “Yeah, I promise. As long as she finishes skipping before my landline rings, I will withdraw the lawsuit.”

Jian Yuncheng and Zhai Yunsheng who were usually at odds with each other were on a united front today.

“Okay, that’s fine,” Cai Qinyue said. Then, she said to her daughter: “You can do this!”

And thus, Wen Ruo did not have a choice. She grabbed the rope and started skipping.

As she skipped, Wen Ruo prayed in her heart for the landline in Jian Yuncheng’s office to not ring.

It appeared as though Jian Yuncheng’s landline heard her prayers. The landline did not ring for an entire hour.

During that hour, Jian Yuncheng, Zhai Yunsheng, and Jian Yiling sat aside and sipped tea. Some of them read articles on the Internet whilst others browsed books. On the other hand, Wen Ruo kept skipping.

As Wen Cheng and Cai Qinyue watched on the side, they felt incredibly sorry for their daughter.

Other than feeling bad for his daughter, Wen Cheng felt helpless as well. However, he genuinely hoped for his daughter to learn from her mistakes. It would be a good thing if his daughter managed to learn from what she did wrong this time around.

Cai Qinyue helped her daughter count.

By this time, Wen Ruo’s face was filled with sweat. She was about to collapse.

Several times, she tripped over the skipping rope and fell onto the ground. As Cai Qinyue watched her daughter suffer, her heart felt as though it was being seized by someone.

However, after Wen Ruo tripped, she could only get up to keep skipping.

“Four thousand nine hundred and ninety, Four thousand nine hundred and ninety-one, Four thousand nine hundred and ninety-two…”

Wen Ruo was almost about to reach five thousand.

For the last few jumps, Wen Ruo used every ounce of strength left in her body.

Her legs felt as though they were no longer hers.

“You can do this! There are only eight more jumps! You’re about to reach five thousand! You’re nearly there!” Despite her anxiousness, Cai Qinyue attempted to cheer on her daughter.

Upon hearing this, Zhai Yunsheng smiled. Then, he took a sip from a cup that was filled with juice.

“Four thousand nine hundred and ninety-eight, Four thousand nine hundred and ninety…”

Before Cai Qinyue got to say the word nine, the landline in Jian Yuncheng’s office rang.

Upon hearing the ring, Cai Qinyue and Wen Ruo were dumbfounded.

They had persisted on this for more than an hour. Why did the phone ring at this last moment?

Zhai Yunsheng picked up his phone. The interface of the phone showed that he was dialing a number.

The phone number on it was undoubtedly the landline of Jian Yuncheng’s office.

“Zhai Yunsheng! Did you do that on purpose?!” Because of anger, Cai Qinyue’s eyes were red.

On the other hand, Wen Ruo collapsed on the floor with exhaustion. She did not even have the energy to be angry.

“I never said that I was going to play fair,” Zhai Yunsheng replied indifferently. “Furthermore, I did do that on purpose. I like playing dirty. I was never a good person.”

Then, Zhai Yunsheng said to Jian Yuncheng: “Well, they failed to fulfill the conditions I set out. Please continue to file your lawsuit against them.”

It seemed as though Jian Yuncheng had expected such an outcome. He was not surprised at all.

“Ah yes. She indeed failed to fulfill the conditions you set out,” Jian Yuncheng said.

Then, Zhai Yunsheng called a media company in front of Cai Qinyue and Wen Ruo: “The girl who ranked third in the previous jewelry design competition stole her work from someone else. Yes, report all the facts.”

Zhai Yunsheng was not here to mediate the situation. Instead, he was here to make a big deal out of the whole thing.

Wen Cheng’s face was filled with grief as he pleaded: “Master Sheng… Please don’t do this to my daughter… She will be left with absolutely nothing…”
