Chapter 1389 Grandson Is the Closest Kin
“Tsk… Xiao Bao is no match for the triplets.” Zhai Hua was not angry that Xiao Bao was being tricked into playing with the triplets. Instead, she seemed to be watching a good show. She laughed the loudest that her son was being made a fool.
Miao Jing gave Zhai Hua a smack. “Xiao Bao is still young and will not take issue with you. When he is older and sensible, you must not do this anymore. Otherwise, he will be angry and will not acknowledge you as his mom in the future. You are so petty-minded. Just because Dongzi was better-behaved than you when you were at a young age and your dad and I would compliment him, telling you to learn from him, you bear a grudge! If you are angry, you should take it out on Dongzi. If you dare to bully my maternal grandson, I will make you suffer for it.”
Miao Jing sounded as if she looked down on her daughter.
Zhai Hua could not defeat the adult, so she took it out on the child, but in fact, the child was Zhai Hua’s son. Miao Jing thought to herself that she must have given birth to a worrisome spoilt brat.
Zhai Hua snorted and touched her nose, not denying that it was true.
Her mother knew her best.
Zhai Hua bore grudges against Tian Dong as he was too outstanding when he was at a young age. She was always told to be more ladylike and that she could not even be compared to Tian Dong who was a boy.
Now that she ended up married to Tian Dong, she had no chance of taking her revenge.
Since her son resembled Tian Dong when he was at a young age, Zhai Hua could not help but direct all her pent-up frustrations at Tian Yu. She enjoyed setting her son up!
“If Dongzi knew this, he will not let you off.” Miao Jing was not worried that her son-in-law would be unhappy. She was worried that Tian Dong’s parents would be displeased. Dongzi finally had a son when he was close to thirty years old. His parents adored and doted on the grandson. They could not wait to bring him around with them wherever they went.
Apart from going to the Zhai family’s residence, Tian Dong’s parents would not allow Tian Yu to be out of their sight for too long, particularly Mother Tian. Since her grandson resembled her son when he was at a young age, she loved him dearly and doted on him.
If she knew that her daughter-in-law bullied her grandson, Miao Jing knew that Mother Tian would definitely side with the grandson instead of the daughter-in-law.
After they had a grandson, no one was more important than him. Their son was not as important, let alone their daughter-in-law.
The country adopted national family policy and each family could only have one child. There was no chance of Hua Hua getting pregnant in the future. She could no longer enjoy the days where she was being treated like the empress.
Zhai Hua smiled embarrassedly. “Mom, stop scaring me. I am with my parental family. That’s why I am more relaxed. When I am back at my in-laws’ house, I won’t be so foolish. Besides, Xiao Bao is my child. I will definitely dote on him. I am just joking with him. He is my life. I cherish and love him.”
“I know that you know what you are doing. I am just giving you a gentle reminder. You must watch your behavior in front of your mother-in-law. No matter how outstanding a daughter-in-law is, the grandson is the closest kin after all. I am afraid that once you are used to such behavior, you will behave as such in front of your mother-in-law. After you are married, you may have led a good life in the past two years and had forgotten that there would always be issues between the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law.”
Tian Dong’s parents were nice people. But no matter how nice the mother-in-law was, she was not as close as one’s mother.
To Miao Jing, apart from Zhai Hua, her maternal grandson, Tian Yu was her closest kin in the Tian family. Miao Jing remained polite but not as close to them.
Similarly, the Tian family treated the Zhai family in the same manner as well.
One must know one’s limitations. One should not become too complacent.
After getting married to Tian Dong, Zhai Hua had been leading a good life. Miao Jing was worried that Zhai Hua might forget about the previous unhappiness and pain. Miao Jing’s only relief was that Zhai Hua had been married to Tian Dong for two years and Wei De did not show up or pester her daughter, causing her to do foolish deeds.
As long as Wei De did not show up, and the Tian family kept a watch on Dongzi, Hua Hua and Dongzi would be able to lead a good life in the future.
Zhai Hua nodded. She would remember her mother’s words by heart. “Alright, Mom, let’s not talk about me anymore. I am doing well now. Today is Qiao Nan’s big day. Shouldn’t we focus on Nan Nan?” It was rare that she was back at home to celebrate Qiao Nan’s graduation. If her mother kept worrying about her, she might steal Qiao Nan’s limelight when Qiao Nan should be the center of attention.
Qiao Nan leaned against Zhai Sheng. She did not mind at all. “It’s alright. It is just a graduation ceremony. I have been through four graduation ceremonies from elementary school to college. It is not that special. There is no need for a celebration. All of you should not place too much importance on it.”
Zhai Sheng pinched Qiao Nan on the waist secretly. “Are you serious when you said that you did not want anything?” Graduating from college was no simple feat. If Nan Nan wished for anything, he would try his best to fulfill her wish.
“What I am thinking right now is whether we could send the triplets to early childhood school in September.” Qiao Nan glanced at the triplets who were having fun at the toy corner with a smile on her face. After she graduated, she would join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a permanent employee. In the future, she would be occupied with work.
She could no longer skive like when she was doing her internship. There would be times where she had to report to work early in the morning but knock off late at night. Deng Wenchang had been keeping a close watch on her for the past one year. She had no wish for Deng Wenchang to get hold of her chink in her armor.
Qiao Nan would only be able to focus on her work if the triplets had found a suitable early childhood school and had confirmed their enrollment. Otherwise, as their mother, she had to put her attention on taking care of them.
Miao Jing could empathize with Qiao Nan. “I used to feel that no matter how tired I am taking care of the many children at home, I would be smiling in happiness. But right now…” The three children had turned three years old. It was an age where it was most exasperating for the adults.
Right now, Miao Jing did not dare to bring the triplets out for a stroll by herself.
She was worried that they might run off in different directions, and she would not be able to get them to come back.
