Chapter 96: The Cannibal Tribe’s Corral

Zhang Lisheng who had just broken through to a Rank-4 Wizard was high on joy at the moment. However, he did not experiment what kind of power his newly obtained witchcraft incantation could give since he was in such a situation, neither did he spend any more wizard power to refine both his wizard worms. Instead, he spat a mouthful of black blood and shouted the word ‘assemble’. The black blood turned into a blood mist and scattered into the wounds on the bloody bodies. Soon, countless insects gathered from the rainforest and began eating the bloody bodies.

Zhang Lisheng was relieved to see the hundreds of millions flying bugs and crawling insects. Although Island Dragon and Mountoad were huge, the sea of bugs would be more efficient to tackle the entire tribe of natives. He waited quietly for the preys to fall into his trap after setting it. The strange thing was, no natives appeared after he waited for more than ten minutes.

Naturally, it was impossible that he had killed everyone in the tribe, after killing over ten warriors and women given that it looked like a huge cannibal tribe. Zhang Lisheng thought about it and went onto Island Dragon carefully, then headed to the many mud huts far away. The sky full of insects followed him naturally as he moved on. All of the mud huts were covered within the sea of insects when he got close.

However, nothing was happening in the mud huts. Zhang Lisheng then controlled Island Dragon to wipe off the roof and torn a mud hut apart. Apart from a portion of a big tree that was cut opened, there was nothing else in the mud hut. The ground was the muddy jungle ground.

“They’re living like primitive,” Zhang Lisheng mumbled to himself and controlled Island Dragon to tear another mud hut apart. He had a different discovery this time, he saw a baby native sleeping in a hollowed tree. Zhang Lisheng came to a realization on the cannibal native women’s behavior earlier which was stubborn at first, which became begging later on.

They were stubborn in protecting their children. After losing their ability to fight back, they were begging so that Zhang Lisheng, the skinny boy whose body was filled with mud and controlling wizard worm like the wizards from other tribes to not kill and eat their children, although they might be training their children to be slaves in the future.

Naturally, babies who had no sense like adults were innocent. If this happened under normal circumstance, Zhang Lisheng would inevitably sigh when he saw this native baby. However, he only glanced through it coldly, while he chanted witchcraft incantation. He then controlled Island Dragon to move forward slowly while destroying the mud huts. Not sure how many mud huts he had destroyed, Zhang Lisheng had finally arrived at the flatland with up to 100 totems.

Although the flatland ground was dirt, it was sturdy and compact like a flat cement ground. Clearly, the natives opened this space in the jungle. The biggest colorful totem in the flatland was the one in the middle, it had a diameter of almost ten meters and over 100 meters tall. It gave people a feeling that they had to worship it, whenever one saw it. It was hard for one to imagine how did a bunch of natives manage to carve such an enormous wooden pole of such detail.

Looking around closely, Zhang Lisheng realized there was nobody around the flatland. He then lifted his head to look at that enormous totem curiously. He could see that the pole was faintly divided into five layers. The first layer had carvings of a bunch of little green men floating in the sky. The second layer was still the carvings of those little green men, but their mouth was clearly much bigger now. They were now on the ground. The third layer of the totem had a carving of an enormous tree with fruits growing on the branches, the little green men were the fruits. Finally, the little green men disappeared on the fourth layer. They were replaced by a bunch of white men with red hair, slender body, and limbs and were holding a diamond-shaped gem in their hands.

The last layer of carving was flat, yellow cards swinging in the vast jungle. The cards formed giant doors when they scattered on the ground. There was gleam shining at the giant doors, they seemed to be connected to another world. Zhang Lisheng suddenly thought of what the native young man he met in Lunuk City said, the one who sold him the jelly gem the moment he saw those giant doors, “Over ten days ago during midnight, I saw a dark yellow glow appeared in the jungle out of nowhere… A giant door… that glowed.”

He looked at the jelly gem tied on his wrist by instinct. He removed it and pulled it twice, figuring it was not the right time to study the gem. He then tied the jelly gem onto his wrist on the other arm and controlled Island Dragon to walk around the flatland. The natives in the tribe seemed to have vanished. Zhang Lisheng cautiously checked through each and every corner on the flatland, but his effort was to no avail.

Just when he was feeling annoyed, he heard a soft humming sound that was coming from far away all of a sudden. The sound was coming from the rainforest, Zhang Lisheng controlled Island Dragon to tear the brambles around and went towards the humming sound slowly. Passing through an area of vines and giant trees, he saw an old, wooden cage appearing before him all of a sudden.

The wooden cage was made of hardwood with the thickness of a brim of the bowl. The gap between two wooden poles was less than 10cm. There were 20 to 30 fat, living humans either naked or wearing torn clothes and a skinny corpse. There were shallow drains dug around the cage filled with red and green food as thick as glue. The smell was pungent. The fatties whose bodies were large were grabbing the food from the drains with their hands from the wooden cage. They put the food into their mouth and eating it clumsily.

“The cannibal tribe’s corral, Sheila should be kept here if she’s still alive,” Zhang Lisheng was stunned for a moment and mumbled softly to himself. It was the cage where the cannibal tribe fed their ‘livestock’. All of the victims which would be their food would be captured in the wooden cage and fed food mixed with wild fruits that caused hallucination. Victims who ate that food would forget about the fear they had and would eat and drink all day. Eventually, they would grow fat while the natives would eat the fattest one among them.

The victims who saw through such a trap would bear the hunger whereby they would not eat nor drink at first. The cannibals would not force them, more than 90% of them would surrender eventually due to their lack of determination while the remaining of them would choose to die of hunger than being the cannibals’ food. Some would get out of the cage from the hunger, becoming the native warrior’s hunting target to show their heroism.

Everything seemed ridiculously cruel, but it was the bloody path whereby the strong ones win living in the cannibal tribe of an ancient jungle with a horrible environment. They did it to ensure their bloodline went on. Zhang Lisheng sat on Island Dragon while recognizing everyone closely. Although those fatties were so fat like they looked the same, whereby they were fat with dirt on their faces, Sheila, Shittu, and Walter were captured not long ago. Very soon, Zhang Lisheng found them.

“Your luck isn’t bad,” Zhang Lisheng mumbled to himself looking at the young people who were stinky and gained at least 20 to 30kg throughout these few days. He controlled Island Dragon to break the wooden cage with its tail and grabbed Sheila and the rest with its front claw. It then put them onto Mountoad’s back that was expanded.

He looked at the other victims of various colors who looked lost, he sighed and controlled both of his wizard worms bringing Sheila and the rest to the tree hollow where Tina and Trish were hiding. After controlling Mountoad to exhale and hopped back into his backpack, Zhang Lisheng went off to Island Dragon’s back, ignoring Sheila, Walter, and Shittu who was sitting on the jungle ground. He shouted, “I’ve brought Sheila, Walter, and Shittu back, but most of the cannibal tribe members are gone which is ridiculous. I didn’t kill them.”

“Oh my god, thank you so much Lisheng. You saved Sheila, Walter…” Trish said in gratitude seeing Sheila and the rest before her in one piece as she climbed out of the tree hollow. However, she soon noticed her close friend and boyfriend looking off. She took a better look at them and screamed, “What… What happened to them?”

“They’re already like that when I found them. I guess the natives fed them plants that cause hallucination in order to make them fat, making them shoving food down their throat, whenever they see food just like force-feeding f*ck. But it seems like they should able to get better if they managed to walk out of the jungle.”

“Of course they can walk out of this jungle because you’re here to help,” Tina said softly while looking at her good friend’s blank expression.

Zhang Lisheng was in a good mood since he broke through to Rank-4 Wizard, he made an exception not to fight back on what Tina said. Instead, he chuckled silently, “It’s not safe to stay near the cannibal tribe blindly. Moreover, it’s still early now. We could still go further today, let’s go.”

Tina and Trish nodded at the same time as they composed their emotion. They helped Sheila, Walter, and Shittu onto Island Dragon’s back strenuously. They then sat in front and behind them, to get the three of them to sit tight.

“Lisheng, please get Island Dragon to go slower later. Sheila and the rest are delirious, they can’t still sit tight at all. Trish and I have to hold onto them…”

“Tina, you’re so imaginative, no wonder you’re exploring the Amazon,” Zhang Lisheng made fun of her and went off Island Dragon’s back. He picked up a few vines from the jungle ground and tested their strength. He then tied Sheila and the rest onto the wizard worm.

“You’re really a jungle adventure expert,” Tina widened her eyes and said in admiration seeing what Zhang Lisheng was doing.

“I learned this from watching people tying their pigs back at home. I hope these vines are strong enough, or else there’s nothing that I can do if they fall,” Zhang Lisheng said while controlling Island Dragon to hop onto a big tree in a spiraling manner. It then began running on top of the trees.

At the same time, over ten hollowed totem poles cracked at the flatland in the cannibal tribe with many totem poles. Many headless corpses revealed themselves. The corpses fell onto the ground following the crack on the poles. Suddenly, they exploded into yellow mist and gathered into an oval mirror floating mid-air. The mirror rotated for a while since it appeared, there were sound and images playing in it like television.
