Chapter 51: Xu Zhan

“Dovey, stop! Stop!”
Butler Wu screamed as he desperately clung on to the feathers of the Red Eagle.
He could see Yang Tian below him while he was in the air a few moments ago. What he did not expect was that the usually brash Little Dovey would be startled by a dragon’s roar to the point that it turned and flew away, as though it were running for its life.
Butler Wu, who was seated on Little Dovey’s back, was worried. Even if he was a Class Six Warrior, a fall from 1000 meters would end in him being dashed to pieces on the ground.
Listening to the desperate screams of Butler Wu, Little Dovey the Red-feathered Eagle began to slowly calm down, and it reduced its speed and altitude.
“Little Dovey, turn back and take a look. I think I saw the man we’re looking for.”
Little Dovey could understand Butler Wu’s words but kept on flying back toward Tianxiong City.
Butler Wu spoke again. “If you don’t bring this person home, the Old Master will definitely beat you and lock you up for a few days without food.”
Hearing Butler Wu’s words, fear flashed in Little Dovey’s eyes and immediately turned back toward the place where the dragon and snake fought. For safety, it flew higher and higher…
Drago, who had morphed back to his small form, was pressed against Yang Tian’s chest, and just like before was hanging off of his chest.
Yang Tian picked up his sword and approached the massive carcass of the Flying Snake. He hacked at the carcass of the massive serpent a few times, making dull thuds. The sharp Tang dao made of YT alloy could only leave shallow marks on the beast’s hide.
The Flying Snake’s skin would be suitable to make armor!
A lot of Monster’s hides and bones were used by Warriors as materials to craft armor and weapons. However, a hide that could resist a YT alloy weapon was exceedingly rare. One would need to kill at least a Grade Eight Monster and above.
These Monsters were rare and difficult to find. Therefore, armor that was tough enough to withstand a YT alloy blade was extremely valuable. Yang Tian recalled the time the Beast Wave occurred. Qin Zhengyang was wearing normal armor. Perhaps he had a suit of this valuable armor which he did not want to wear, or perhaps he just never had it in the first place.
Once skinned, this massive Flying Snake could probably make ten suits of superior armor.
Yang Tian knew he could not possibly skin the entire snake and bring it all back. Seeing that the other Warriors had yet to arrive, he took the opportunity to test out different parts of the carcass using his sword. He wanted to find the sturdiest part so he cut off a bit of scale and hacked it.
Ten minutes later, Yang Tian finally found what he was looking for. The thigh of the Flying Snake.
This was without a doubt the softest yet sturdiest part of the Flying Snake’s hide.
Yang Tian cut off the scales on the thigh and began cutting with his sword. After constantly battling with other Warriors, the blade of his Tang dao was full of nicks and chips, making it more like a saw.
After a lot of effort, Yang Tian finally cut off a large piece of hide from the Flying Snake. He folded it up and put it in his backpack.
This piece of hide should be enough to make a full suit of body armor.
There was the other thigh.
However, this thigh was beneath the rest of the Flying Snake’s great mass. It would not be an easy task to roll it over.
Thud!
At that moment, a man jumped down from a cliff ten meters high. He made a loud thud when he landed.
Yang Tian noticed him the moment he landed.
It was a bald, middle-aged man. He sported a black armor and metal sabatons. He had a metal gauntlet on his right hand and a silvery curved sword in his left. The curve on the blade was so large that it was nearly a semicircle.
This was a special weapon, much like Feng Da’s Chain saber. It did not take a genius to know that its mode of attack was unconventional, and therefore, difficult to defend against.
After landing on the ground, he walked up to the Flying Snake’s massive head. When he saw that the serpent’s head had already been cut open, he strode over to Yang Tian and stopped ten meters away. He looked at Yang Tian coldly, and said, “You must be Yang Tian. Hand over the Beast Core, and I won’t kill you!” This man’s voice was like gravel, and he spoke arrogantly toward Yang Tian.
Yang Tian smiled in response. “I’m afraid that’s not possible.”
The bald man huffed coldly before saying, “Then I’ll have to kill you. It’s just a bit more troublesome.”
“Who are you?” Yang Tian asked as he looked at the bald man’s cold eyes.
“Baihu Military Academy’s Class Six Warrior, Xu Zhan,” the bald man replied calmly.
Baihu Military Academy?
Yang Tian had never heard of the Baihu Military Academy. He then knew that this was not a Warrior from Tianxiong City.
Yang Tian had no interest in knowing which Safe City Xu Zhan was a Warrior of. He raised his blade and pointed it at Xu Zhan.
Xu Zhan twisted the hilt of his curved blade. There was a ‘clack’, and another blade slid out, turning the entire sword into an S shape.
Thud!
Xu Zhan stomped on the ground, and the sabaton turned the clay chunks into powder. Using the momentum from the stomp, he launched himself at Yang Tian.
Clang!
Yang Tian’s sword clashed with the one in Xu Zhan’s hand, making a terrific sound of metal crashing into metal. Both men immediately disengaged at that moment. From the looks of it, nobody gained an advantage.
However, Yang Tian looked at his waist and realized a hole had been cut in his black T-shirt.
In the moment that both of them were in contact, a short knife sprung out of Xu Zhan’s gauntleted right hand. It was fortunate that Yang Tian reacted fast, which led to his clothes being cut and not his flesh.
“You’re fast!”
Xu Zhan nodded at Yang Tian as he spoke.
“You’re no slowpoke yourself!” Yang Tian said as the sword in his hand turned into slivers of white light. He positioned his body and rushed toward Xu Zhan.
Clang! Clang! clang!
The continuous clashing of weapons could be heard in the valley.
This scene could not compare in wondrousness to when the dragon fought the serpent, but it was even more dangerous!
Both of them moved at a blur, and within a few seconds their weapons had clashed dozens of times.
Whoosh…
Xu Zhan swept his leg toward Yang Tian’s waist.
If he were to take the kick, Yang Tian would definitely be injured because Xu Zhan was wearing metal sabatons.
Even though his leg was weighed down by the sabaton, Xu Zhan’s kick was still extremely fast. It was more agile than his fists.
Yang Tian twisted his body and managed to evade the kick. However, there was suddenly a ‘clack’ and a silver needle shot out of the back of Xu Zhan’s sabaton, traveling incredibly fast through the air.
Yang Tian had no way to avoid it, so he used his thoughts and concentrated the Dragon Pearl energy in the area of his abdomen that would be hit by the needle.
Almost immediately after that, Yang Tian felt a piercing pain in his abdomen. The silver needle had pierced his skin.
“Hey!”
Xu Zhan exclaimed in surprise upon seeing that the inch-long silver needle had not completely buried itself in Yang Tian’s abdomen.
Yang Tian dashed away, plucked the needle out of his abdomen, and threw it on the floor.
“Using hidden weapons… Despicable!”
Yang Tian spoke through clenched teeth as he glared coldly at Xu Zhan.
