Chapter 838: Assignments

The middle-aged customer had no other questions, so he headed to the cashier to check out with Jiang Feifei.

It was Jiang Feifei’s first transaction with a customer. She was a little bit nervous, and her fingers trembled slightly. Luckily, most people chose card or online transaction, so she was spared from the trouble of making a mistake with the change.

“Right, do you deliver the aquarium tanks to the door?” The middle-aged man hesitated right before making the payment.

“Of course. We deliver to your door for free. We even climb up the stairs,” Zhang Zian answered.

“That’s great. It’d be a headache if you wouldn’t climb up the stairs.” The middle-aged man made the payment, took the receipt, scheduled a delivery time, then left.

“Master, well… Who’s going to climb up the stairs to deliver?” Li Kun asked Zhang Zian immediately, as he had a bad premonition.

Zhang Zian stared at him and said, “Of course it’s you guys. It’s not me, for sure.”

Li Kun started complaining right away. It was such a hard job to move a heavy and fragile aquarium tank upstairs. If the recipient lived in an old building without an elevator, it would be even worse.

Zhang Zian tapped on his shoulder and said, “Young people like you should exercise more often! Plus, you’ll get a commission for each delivery. I envy you guys!”

Even if Li Kun wanted to push back, he couldn’t do anything about it. He messaged Wang Qian about the unfortunate news via WeChat. Fortunately, judging from the conversation with the middle-aged customer, Zhang Zian thought that he lived in a new building. There should be an elevator there.

Electrician Wu and Welder Zhao both picked some fish and other marine creatures. Electrician Wu paid directly, while Welder Zhao spent a lot of time instructing Jiang Feifei that he had picked out his fish, and she should not sell them to others. He would return in a few days to pay at the same discounted price.

Welder Zhao only left with Electrician Wu after his wife had called, telling him that she would call the police if he didn’t come back home soon.

Snowy lifted the phone and led her audience around to look at the exotic marine creatures. First, she focused her camera on the creatures in the tanks, asking the audience to guess their names. Then she verified the answer against the label stickers. Even for the common creatures, only a few audience members answered correctly. It seemed that most people knew very little about marine creatures.

After touring the aquarium, Snowy looked at her watch and decided it was time to end the live broadcast session.

“All right, that’s it for the Amazing Fate Aquarium tour. Are you satisfied? If you are not, there’s nothing I can do about it. Haha!” Snowy laughed towards her phone. “As for the time and location of the next broadcast, I haven’t decided it yet… New friends, please subscribe to Snowy’s live broadcast room and Weibo. I’ll announce the next broadcast on Weibo in advance. In addition, the reward for the Holy Cat statue is still in effect. If you’ve seen a similar statue somewhere, please contact me via Weibo or my WeChat public account. There is a big reward!”

The audience started sighing. Everybody knew that when Snowy said the broadcast was over, it was over, no matter how much tipping they gave. They had to grasp the last few minutes to kiss the screen.

“Sigh! When Snowy is not broadcasting, life is so dull and tasteless…” someone complained.

“If you are bored, go check out other live broadcast rooms,” another person responded.

“Right. What’s the room number of the mermaid cosplayer you were talking about? I’ll go and check out if she’s as pretty as you described.”

“I can guarantee by my reputation that she’s absolutely gorgeous. Ten points out of ten!”

“Stop joking! Lin Chi-ling only gets seven. How could a nameless cosplayer on a live broadcast platform get a ten?”

“I’m serious. Just go and look at her yourself. Lin Chi-ling is nothing more than a village girl in front of her…”

“Is she really that pretty? Could she be a drag queen?”

“The only drag queen we know is Manager Weak Bird!”

The audience exited the live broadcast room one after another. Some returned to their jobs and studies in real life, while others entered other rooms.

After broadcasting for a long time, Snowy’s phone had turned hot. She put her phone back in her pocket, then took out two pages of A4-sized paper from her backpack.

“Oh right, Mr. Store Manager. I almost forgot… This is for you.” She handed the paper to Zhang Zian.

“This is…?”

Zhang Zian took the paper and glanced over it. There were locations and times written on it, with numbers and various IDs. The two pages were identical.

“These are clues from the audience. All of them are locations where someone claimed to have spotted the Holy Cat statue. The IDs are the fans who provided the clues. If they are real, we need to contact them for the reward,” Snowy explained.

“This many?” Zhang Zian was astonished. He didn’t expect so many candidate locations.

Snowy spoke bluntly. “I suspect that most of them are pranks or jokes from the fans. The Holy Cat statue doesn’t have wings… How could it show up at so many locations within such a short time?”

Zhang Zian stayed calm and didn’t respond. He could not make assumptions, as the Holy Cat statue could not be anticipated with common sense anymore. Even if it had wings, he would not be surprised.

He read it again attentively. If the online fans were not joking, how could the Holy Statue appear near the old residential area of Dongcheng District at one moment, then in the industrial park of Xicheng District the next moment? No wonder Snowy felt it was a prank.

“Whatever these may be, I’ll check them out. What if they’re not pranks?” he asked.

Snowy nodded and took one page back. “I have nothing else to do, anyway. I’ll help you with the search. Let’s assign these locations and head to different ones. It’ll save time.”

Zhang Zian was embarrassed to get her involved. But after seeing that she really seemed bored and wanted to something to do, he agreed. “Okay. Let’s divide them up.”

After discussing and planning, a few downtown locations were assigned to Snowy. Apparently, asking a young girl to visit remote suburban locations was inappropriate. Zhang Zian took care of those places.

“Mr. Store Manager, are you covering too many places? Wouldn’t it take a lot of time?” Snowy asked after finding out that Zhang Zian had only assigned her 30 percent of all of the locations.

“It’s fine, no worries. I have my tricks.” Zhang Zian smiled without revealing the answer.

It seemed that he had a lot of places to cover; however, many of them could be eliminated. For example, some online fans claimed that they saw people carrying the Holy Cat statue. This was obviously impossible, as the Holy Cat statue was not stolen. After eliminating those, there were not many locations left.

“All right. I’ll drop off Snowball at home first, then I’ll start my search. If I get new clues, I’ll notify you,” Snowy said.

“Okay. Take care.” Zhang Zian hesitated and added, “If you see stray cats, don’t get too close to them.”
