Chapter 1420: The Disappearing Wall

Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio  Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

During the evening, Zhonghua Road in front of the pet shop wasn’t very busy. The only time it was bustling was in July and August every year.

Vendors set up their stalls near Binhai University during the semester. Currently, the university was closed. Most of the students had left the school to go home or out for internships and thus moved here.

To prevent pedestrians on the street from noticing the abnormalities happening in the pet shop and stop the lights in the shop from attracting mosquitoes, Zhang Zian turned off the main lights on the first floor, leaving only a few dim yellow night lights.

Little White stood at the door of the store and people on the street, inhaling the smell of barbecue meat carried by the night’s wind. Small dogs such as the Toy Poodle and Pomeranian, as well as medium and large dogs such as the Samoyed and the Golden Retriever, were carried or led by their owners. They passed by the door from time to time.

Compared to the landfill, life in the city was a paradise that people rarely wanted to move away from. But once hundreds of stray dogs invaded the city, both stray cats and humans would fight back against them. This was therefore only temporary thinking.

“Meow, meow, meow! Are you going out or not? If not, then shut the door or else the air conditioner won’t be effective! ” Snowy Lionet grumbled.

Other elves knew how hard it was to break through the confinement that the game set around the pet store. Although Famous and Vladimir’s cases were precedents, they didn’t believe that Little White would succeed.

Old Time Tea looked at Little White in silence. Even if he couldn’t become a hero in the future, he was at least trying to be one. Regardless of whether he was a hero or not, Old Time Tea didn’t want to see him hitting the wall. To save himself from embarrassment, he went back upstairs first.

As for Fina, she didn’t care if Little White could break through the barrier at all. She wanted to go to bed early and went back upstairs.

Although Richard wanted to watch the fun, he was blind at night when the lights were switched off. He flew into the pet bathroom but couldn’t get out.

Soon, only Little White, Xinghai, Vladimir, and Snowy Lionet remained at the front of the pet shop.

Zhang Zian couldn’t see past the air wall set by the game. He could only roughly draw out the location of the air wall to remind Little White.

Little White looked and smelled around, but he didn’t find any air wall. He raised his paw doubtfully and touched an invisible wall in front of it.

“Please think about what you’re doing. After you have wholeheartedly embraced the Meow-meow doctrine, you can go out into the world!” Vladimir would take any opportunity to promote the superiority of the meow meow doctrine even if to his enemies.

Little White was eager to go to the waste recycling station. He was too lazy to quarrel. He tentatively pressed the air wall at the door with his claws once to find a relatively vulnerable position.

When he pressed it at a certain location, his claw suddenly moved past the air wall and stretches forward.

“Ah?”

“Meow the hell!”

Zhang Zian and Vladimir were all stunned since the former witnessed others struggle with it. Although it was invisible, they were familiar with its texture from top to bottom. Its surface was like a sandbag wrapped in a spongey cushion. However, one of Little White’s forepaws had managed to pass through the air wall.

“Air wall? Just like that? What was that about the Meow-meow doctrine? It wasn’t helpful…” Little White said contemptuously and turned to look at Vladimir.

“How dare you! Wanna say that again?”

Vladimir was so angry that he was about to attack Little White.

“Sure, just tell me how many times you want me to say it!”

Little White did not back down and drew his claws in case he needed to.

“Fight! Fight! Fight! ” Snowy Lionet was lying on the counter, gloating as it witnessed the impending fight.

Zhang Zian stood between them. “Wait a minute! Something seems wrong. ”

Vladimir wasn’t going to act like the other stray cats and attack the commander of the other party they had a truce with. Not only that, but Little White also relied on Zhang Zian. He was responsible for coordinating the work of changing waste products to obtain dog food. It was impossible to do anything to him, so they had to stop fighting for a moment when he stood between them. They both took two steps back as a sign of respect for Zhang Zian.

Snowy Lionet smacked her lips disappointedly. “Oh, come on. You just had to come in and butt in on this, huh?”

He squatted next to the theoretical position of the air wall and tried to recall carefully.

According to the existing data, when the favorability of the elves keeps to the initial state, they will be trapped in the pet store by an invisible and qualitative air wall. However, if their favorability rises to the first level or when they utilize a method similar to BUG to cross the air wall, the air wall will no longer work against them as long as they successfully crossed it once.

“Vladimir, do you remember where your fist was when you first hit the air wall?” He asked.

That was such a long time ago, Vladimir couldn’t remember it very well. He wondered, “Why do you ask?”

Zhang Zian pointed to the position Little White had just pressed. “If I remember correctly, I think it’s here?”

Vladimir didn’t care about such a small detail and thus couldn’t remember it.

There was a surveillance camera at the cashier’s desk at the door. The view covered the small area of the cashier’s desk and the store door, to prevent theft and money disputes with customers.

Zhang Zian switched on the computer of the cash register and pulled up the video of Vladimir’s first day. After careful comparison, he determined that it was indeed the same location.

Thus, he figured that when Vladimir broke the air wall in this location, the game didn’t fix it for some reason and left a hole there.

As for why the game hadn’t repaired the wall, Zhang Zian had no idea. It may have been that the game thought that it was impossible for an elf to escape from the prison before the promotion of likability, or even to break through the prison on its own. Thus, the need to repair the prison hadn’t been considered.

The confinement itself was intangible and only worked for the elves whose favorability wasn’t high enough. Such a setting was not only very complicated as it was but also difficult to repair. Instead of repairing it, it may have been better to simply replace it as a whole.

A lot of games were like this. Game designers thought that the game that designed are flawless, but loopholes will always be found out by diligent players. These players could’ve then made profits by exploiting the loopholes before the game fixed them.

In any case, since the hole that Vladimir cracked had not been repaired, there was no need for an alternative.

Little White lowered hits head, slightly shrunk his body, and drilled out of the pet shop from where the hole was.
