219 Beaten

“Auntie, we have rules. We can’t say anything,” Zou Sheng replied patiently and picked up his chopsticks to eat.

The canteen lady tactfully stopped asking.

After they finished eating, they returned to their offices to work.

In the afternoon, Wu Zheng sent Zou Sheng and Meng Heng to visit the area around the crime scenes to look for witnesses or hidden civilian cameras. He hoped to find something.

Shen Yin sat in the forensics office and briefly handled some injury assessment work.

Zheng Ling rushed in from outside. When she saw Shen Yin, she wanted to say something but hesitated.

“What happened?” Shen Yin looked up from the documents and looked at her in confusion.

Zheng Ling hesitantly placed the report in her hand on Shen Yin’s desk and said slowly, “Boss, I just went to do an injury assessment.”

“What’s wrong?” Shen Yin looked at her in confusion, thinking that she had encountered some difficult problem. She picked up the document and only reacted when she saw the patient’s name on it. She said in amusement, “Shen Luo’s assessment. Why are you showing it to me?”

“Boss, is she really your sister?” Zheng Ling had never seen such a shrewish woman. She had only gotten into an argument with someone and was slapped, but she insisted on pestering Zheng Ling and pretending to be sick. She wanted Zheng Ling to assess her injury as serious so that she could demand compensation. However, this was clearly against the rules. Zheng Ling was in a difficult position, so she wanted to ask Shen Yin’s opinion.

After Shen Yin understood the whole story, she sneered and said, “Do what’s right. You don’t have to ask for my opinion.”

Zheng Ling heaved a sigh of relief and nodded. “Then I know what to do. By the way, Boss, she’s downstairs at the police station now. She’s shouting that she wants to see you. Do you want to go take a look?”

The security officers downstairs did not dare to touch her at all. This woman was sitting on the ground and throwing a tantrum and threatening to sue everyone for no reason. It had already caused a commotion among the guards downstairs.

Shen Yin stood up and opened the window. The noise outside instantly became exceptionally clear.

Shen Luo sat on the ground and covered her face as she wailed, “Do you know how to appraise my injury? I was slapped! How can I be fine? Did Shen Yin ask you to fool me like this?!”

“Miss, evidence is important. Your injuries are really not serious.” Han Xu could not out-talk Shen Luo, so he could only explain the criteria of the appraisal to her again and again. He talked for a long time, but Shen Luo still refused to listen and insisted on seeing Shen Yin.

Beside her, Lin He also hugged her daughter’s shoulder and cried bitterly. “Do you police officers think you can bully us citizens? Yesterday, you arrested my husband. Today, my daughter was beaten up, but you pretend that nothing has happened. Shen Yin, you’ll pay for this sooner or later! You won’t always call the shots in the police station.”

Shen Yin listened from upstairs and closed the window in boredom.

Zheng Ling smiled awkwardly and comforted her softly, “Boss, I know this has nothing to do with you. They’re being too unreasonable!”

“They’re even making a scene at the police station.” Shen Yin sneered. Coincidentally, someone knocked on the office door. She looked up and saw an unfamiliar police officer standing at the door. He looked at her guiltily and said, “Dr. Shen, the chief wants to see you.”

“Got it.” It was a small matter, but it was not surprising that the police chief had been alerted by their commotion.

Zheng Ling grabbed Shen Yin’s arm worriedly and refused to let her go. “Boss, it’s better if you don’t go. Just say that you’re not feeling well and brush it off! I’ll help you settle the matter downstairs!”

“No need. It’s not a big deal.” Shen Yin gently retracted her arm and patted Zheng Ling’s shoulder comfortingly. “I’ll be back soon. This has nothing to do with me. The chief won’t say anything.”

In the office, the gray-haired old chief was standing by the window, watching the commotion downstairs. When he heard the knock on the door, he turned around and said calmly, “Come in.”

Shen Yin pushed open the door and walked into the office. She crisply saluted the chief before asking calmly, “Chief, why are you looking for me?”

The old chief gestured for her to look downstairs and went straight to the point. “I heard that Team Three arrested your father yesterday?”

“Yes.” Shen Yin nodded and said matter-of-factly, “He broke the law, so it’s reasonable for Team Three to arrest him.”

The old chief did not seem surprised by her answer. He nodded calmly and closed the window. He asked solemnly, “What do you plan to do with the mother and daughter downstairs?”

“Do you need me to deal with them?” Shen Yin looked up at him in confusion. “Isn’t the law perfectly clear on how to deal with charges such as disrupting public peace and obstructing the administration of justice?”

“Do you really think so?” The old chief sat back behind his desk. Seeing that she really had no intention of using her position for personal gain, a gratified smile appeared on his serious face. “I really chose the right person, but you should go down and meet them. They’re your family after all. Send them away. If they really refuse to listen, we’ll go through the proper judicial process.”
