Chapter 682: I Want to Make You Suffer

Boss Yue behaved as though he were an exemplary practitioner of the 24 Paragons of Filial Piety in front of her goddess. How was he so frightening the moment he faced other people?

Yue Tingfeng still had a smile plastered onto his face. “How would I know anything? Do I look like I know anything? Don’t be afraid. Just tell me…”

“Tell you what?” Yan Qingsi’s voice suddenly rang out.

Her hair was still sodden. She heard the two talking just as she came out of the shower.

All color drained out of Ji Mianmian’s face immediately. Cramps seized her legs and her stomach. Oh no… Oh no. if her goddess knew that she… betrayed her, would she be disappointed in her? Would she… chase her off?

Ji Mianmian stood rooted in her spot, trembling with fear and anxiety.

Yue Tingfeng got onto his feet. “It’s nothing. I was just asking her if she’s been officiated as permanent staff,” he said, still smiling. “The Yue Group is now working hard to ensure that every employee feels comfortable, as though they were at home.”

“Yue Group… Mianmian is also an employee of the Yue Group?”

Yue Tingfeng raised his brows. “Who did you think she was then? Even you are an employee of the Yue Group, and her money is the Yue Group’s money.”

Yan Qingsi pursed her lips. “I see…”

She extended a hand to pat Ji Mianmian on the shoulder. “Now that you know this is our boss. You better not offend him in the future. Who knows what would happen if he doesn’t pay us our salary?”

Ji Mianmian nodded her head vehemently, but she did not dare to say anything.

Yue Tingfeng held Yan Qingsi’s shoulders and smoothed a hand over her still-wet hair. “Why don’t you dry your hair?”

“It feels cooler like this on such a hot day,” Yan Qingsi answered.

She hated using a hairdryer, especially during the summer. Her barely refreshed scalp would scald again after holding it close to her head for too long.

“You better use a hairdryer…”

“Cut the crap. Let’s go. I’m starving.”

“You haven’t been eating well while I wasn’t around, have you?” Yue Tingfeng pinched Yan Qingsi’s cheeks, feeling that they were not quite as meaty as before.

He pinched her arm as well. It was thinner too.

Yan Qingsi nodded. “Yeah… Of course I didn’t eat well.”

“I’ve told you before. Why don’t you listen? Can’t you take care of yourself more? Just because your stomach doesn’t hurt anymore doesn’t mean you shouldn’t…”

A torrent of words sat on the tip of Yue Tingfeng’s tongue as he prepared to properly lecture Yan Qingsi, but he was cut off by her reply.

Yan Qingsi said, “Because I want you to suffer!”

Yue Tingfeng…

His mouth twitched. Why did he feel that this excuse was… excellent! It had a baffling allure to it!

Yan Qingsi tilted her head upward, the corners of her lips lifted. Her half-wet hair was slightly mussed and she wore no makeup, her face fresh and bare. Yet her lips were scarlet and her skin like porcelain. Her dark eyes sparkled with the light of a million stars. They looked like the brightest lodestar that shone in the darkest night— the one you would see when you lifted your head toward the sky, no matter what time of the year.

Yue Tingfeng encircled his arms around Yan Qingsi. All the accusations on his expression gradually dissipated. “That’s it… You’re going to eat a hole right into me!”

The most beautiful thing in this world is that I get to see myself in your eyes.

The most beautiful thing in Yue Tingfeng’s heart was that he could see his silhouette reflected in Yan Qingsi’s eyes at any moment in time. He could hold her hand and walk the earth, living out many days together.

Yan Qingsi cocked her head as she looked at Yue Tingfeng. “Don’t you want to be eaten by me?”

Yue Tingfeng nodded. “I want to. I most certainly want to.”

Could he possibly not want to? He wanted to so badly. It was not easy to meet someone like Yan Qingsi.

Yue Tingfeng was so happy that he felt like he could float!
