Chapter 1099: Untitled

This was why the male supporting actor was so arrogant.

Bo Jiu held her backpack with one hand and kept the other in her pocket. She continued staring at the man without saying anything.

The male supporting actor somehow felt that the youngster’s gaze was a little sinister. It might be because Bo Jiu stared at him for too long or because her gaze was dark and deep; it was like a bottomless well. The actor felt that he was being scrutinized by someone.

The fear slowly turned into anger. How dare a Chinese pig stare at him with that kind of look? Didn’t he have any manners? And didn’t he know that every Chinese actor who came here were respectful towards them?

Since that fellow didn’t know anything, he would educate him.

The male supporting actor smiled at Bo Jiu. The contempt and disgust in the gaze were obvious.

The people around him continued laughing.

After less than half a minute, the director walked over. Excitement could still be seen all over his face. “Come, come, come. Let’s look at the script first. I’ll ask someone to explain the script to you.”

Bo Jiu finally retracted her gaze. She pointed her chin in the direction where the male supporting actor was at and asked, “Who is he?”

The director smiled. “Do you want to make friends with Alan? That’s good. You have some scenes with him and he isn’t filming yet. Maybe he can go through the script with you.”

Bo Jiu was in deep thought. She gave a small evil smile. “Sure.”

“Alan! Hey, Alan!” The director called the supporting actor.

Alan walked over when the director called. He was polite towards the director. Even if he didn’t like a person, he would hide his emotions around the director.

The director patted his shoulder and said, “Go through the script with Jiu. This is his first time acting.”

“His first time acting? Director, I’m really worried. I’m afraid that he might not know how to act even if I go through his scenes with him.” Alan pretended to be joking. However, it was obvious that he looked down on Bo Jiu.

Two actors who were around them looked over too. One of them didn’t agree with Alan’s actions because he thought that there must be a reason why the director chose this actor. Also, you wouldn’t know a person’s skill until he started acting.

But Alan didn’t think this way. The moment he saw that the actor came from China, he discriminated against him.

What a troublesome fellow. That was what some people felt but no one thought that there was a need to stand up for an outsider. Their impression of Chinese actors and actresses remained as people who didn’t have much of a portfolio but loved to walk the red carpet after all.

They couldn’t deny that there were outstanding actors and actresses. However, this young man shouldn’t be one of them and in this place, acting skill was the most important thing.

The director frowned and continued, “That’s because you don’t understand Jiu. He will be able to portray the character perfectly just by being himself.”

“In that case, my worry is unnecessary.” Alan wouldn’t embarrass the director in such a situation. He took over the script and said, “Let me go through our scenes with him.”

The director smiled and patted his shoulder.

Someone came and called the director. Thus, the director told Bo Jiu, “I have to deal with some things. We’ll test the scene once you finish going through the script with him.”

“Sure.” There was no change in Bo Jiu’s emotions. She maintained a small smile on her face. In that instant, you could feel Qin Mo’s aura on her.

Would you become more and more similar to another person if you stayed too long with him? Even her aura was like Qin Mo’s now.

The director left.

Once he had left, Alan’s attitude changed. He teased Bo Jiu, “Oh no, I forgot that Chinese actors are bad at speaking English. Could it be that you didn’t understand what I was saying at all? That will be awkward.”

The people around them noticed that Bo Jiu had no reaction and thus thought that she really didn’t understand English.

Alan smiled again and placed the script at the side. “I wonder where the director found such a stupid pig like you. You’re a waste of everyone’s time.”

“Alan.” The other actor couldn’t stand him anymore and reminded him.

Alan saw that the other actor’s status wasn’t as high as his so he disregarded him. “Take care of yourself.”

Right at this moment, the youngster was still standing in the same relaxed posture with a hand in his pocket. He opened his mouth and said slowly in Chinese, “You’re the real stupid pig.”

Five words in an indifferent tone. The people who knew the Chinese language understood what she was saying but Alan frowned. “What?”

“I said, you’re stupid.” Her English accent was authentic. Her voice was enchanting and had the unique tone of a youngster. It seeped into Alan’s ears like an ever-flowing stream. “I said, you’re a stupid pig, in Chinese.”

She spoke both English and Chinese.

Anger appeared on Alan’s face. His face was as red as a pig’s liver. He hadn’t expected the youngster to be able to understand what he said. He had even repeated his words in both English and Chinese and thus felt humiliated.

“You!” Alan wanted to beat the youngster in a fit of anger.

He had already grabbed the youngster’s collar. The veins on his arm popped out. His force of presence was frightening.

His manager pulled him back. “Calm down. Alan, calm down! This person was brought here by the director.”

Alan gritted his teeth and took his hand away. He glared at Bo Jiu like a poisonous snake and threatened her, “Little brat, just wait.”

Bo Jiu smiled gently as she tidied her clothes. “Sure, I’ll wait.”

The calmer she was, the angrier Alan got. He almost lost control of his emotions.

There was a Chinese backstage staff member standing at the side. He pulled Bo Jiu back and told the manager, “I’ll talk to him.”

The manager heaved a sigh of relief and waved his hand.

Bo Jiu allowed the man, who looked around thirty years old, to pull her to the side.

The man said as he walked, “I know that you’re angered by his words but since you came here alone, you need to be careful. He looks like some ordinary man but I heard that he has some relationship with the American mafia. If you provoked him at the set, he might not disturb you because of the director. However, you won’t know what he will do in the future. I think that even if there are three of you, you won’t be able to resist his beating.”

“Am I supposed to let him scold China?” Bo Jiu interrupted the man.

The man turned back. There were some wrinkles at the corners of his eyes. He sighed before replying, “None of us is a hero. It’s good to love your country but you can’t act rashly outside. I want to refute him just like you too. Let’s go off the topic for a while. I came here because I was fooled. However, there’s nothing I can do. My family took all their money so that I can go overseas. Here, I can earn more, even if I’m just washing plates, as compared to working in China. It took me much effort to get this job. If I talk back to him, my job is gone. A wealthy young master like you might not know how hard it is for a Chinese to find a job in America. Some kind people might give you tips and treat you well when they see how haggard you look. However, most of the time, the social structure is the main problem. We are all doing this for survival. Do you understand?”

Bo Jiu stopped in his tracks when she heard the man’s reply. “Why don’t you go back?”

The man didn’t reply to her. He just shook his head. Everyone working overseas would miss their family. However, they needed to be practical. They had to support their family.

Bo Jiu knew that it was already hard enough for the man to pull her back. There were two other Chinese people who didn’t even bother about her. They might be worried about getting implicated. It was normal.

But she was a wealthy young master. She didn’t lack money and she just needed to raise the Almighty. Hence…

Bo Jiu looked up and shifted her gaze back at Alan, who was kicking objects to vent his anger. Her expression turned cold. It was time to let someone swallow his own words.

The director was really busy. If not, he would have noticed the situation over here.

The other actors who knew about this were worried about the youngster but they didn’t want to get implicated.

Alan glared at Bo Jiu from afar. There was malicious intent in his gaze.

Someone walked over in an attempt to block Alan’s view. “I didn’t expect your English to be so good.” It was the actor who spoke up for Bo Jiu just now. “But I want to remind you that you really shouldn’t provoke Alan.”

“Thank you.” Bo Jiu grew up in this city. She knew that every country had good and bad people. Scums needed to be beaten up. That goes without a question.

Besides Bo Jiu, there was another Chinese actor at the shooting set. The actor probably went through many back doors to get his role. He stood beside Alan and said, “Don’t get angry at unrefined people. You should know that these people are always full of themselves.”

Alan didn’t want to see any Chinese people now. Thus, he didn’t accept the person’s friendliness and glared at him instead. He went back to his resting area.

The male actor could only go and find Bo Jiu. “You should apologize to Alan. Do you know that you’re representing China when you come out?”

Bo Jiu unwrapped a lollipop and placed it in her mouth. After listening to the person’s speech, she looked up and answered him calmly, “I didn’t know that you still care about China’s reputation. How interesting.”

“You! What kind of attitude is this?” The male actor clenched his fist.

Bo Jiu replied cheekily, “Weren’t you the one who said that we shouldn’t get angry at unrefined people? Move away. I don’t have the time to beat you up.”

The male actor was stunned. “Do you know how popular I am in China? You…”

“Oh?” Bo Jiu raised her eyebrows. “I don’t know. It looks like your definition of popular is through your own boasting.”

The male actor was so angry his face darkened. “You might not be able to imagine how much my fans love me.”

“I can imagine what kind of fans an idol like you will have.” Bo Jiu’s tone remained relaxed. “If not, how can someone like you appear? You’re good at currying favor. You’re the last person who should talk about China’s reputation.”

The male actor wanted to argue with her but the director was walking over. Thus, he swallowed his words and walked to the side, pretending that nothing had happened.

“Jiu, how much of the script do you understand?” From his question, you could tell that he wanted to start Bo Jiu’s scenes as soon as possible.

Bo Jiu raised her script. “I just started looking at it.”

The director seemed a little disappointed. However, he knew that he was too impatient.

His assistant reminded him softly, “Mister, maybe you should ask this actor to try his costumes and makeup.”

Right, the charisma and presence of a character would be affected by many things. Besides good acting and looks, there was another important factor: the costume and makeup of the actor.

As everyone knew, many characters were destroyed by the stylist. This was the lesson different movies and dramas taught us.

However, whether a person could handle the styling was important too.

The director had the saying power in the shooting set but Bo Jiu’s character was the idol of many people even though he wasn’t the male lead. There were many discussions about Bo Jiu’s character on the internet. He was a mysterious hacker who came and went again without a trace. He was neither good nor bad; maybe both.

People could only imagine what kind of character this would be. Based on his height and his age, Bo Jiu suited the character. This was because the author of the novel based this character on the once-famous hacker of the Fifth Avenue, Z.

Many people heard of him but never met him. The police described him as someone tall and very young. There were no further details.

The author added in his own imagination and made this hacker into a beautiful Chinese young man.

The original description of the character was: “The night breeze blew past. The youngster’s hair was in a mess but it didn’t make him look haggard. Instead, it gave him a noble aura. He was like a noble vampire of the East. The hooded black trench coat covered his face, only revealing his jawline. However, it was enough for people to fantasize…”

Thus, the looks of this youngster passed the test. Even within this drama set, where there were many superstars, he was considered extremely handsome.

However, the assistant felt that the youngster was a little too soft for his role. She wondered if he could portray the presence of his character after his styling.

The director only remembered this after the reminder from his assistant. “Oh right, the styling. Jiu, go to the makeup room first. You can use the time while doing makeup to look at your script. We’ll go through a scene later so that you can get used to the tempo here. It’s alright if you can’t remember your lines.”

Bo Jiu smiled and asked, “What scene will we be going through?”

“Which scene?” The director was in a dilemma. At first, the director wanted to let Jiu and Alan play a scene together. However, Alan finally managed to get the right feeling for the previous scene. He needed to shoot for some more time. The director placed his hands on his chin and rubbed it.

Alan, who was beside them, opened his mouth. “Why not shoot the fighting scene first? There are few lines and we can let our new friend experience how we shoot fighting scenes too.”
