“Nothing yet,” Shen Yi said with an impassive face.

Her hand reached out and held his, her eyes worried as she looked at him.

“Coming home finding you like this? How could I say I’m your wife if I can’t tell you aren’t your normal self in one look? Alright. What’s eating at you?”

“It’s not as bad as you think, Xinxin,” Shen Yi sighed. He turned over his hand to hold her hand properly. His thumb lightly caressed the back of her hand. “The last hearing for the twins’ custody will be held soon. I’m just curious if they’ll be fine.”

“My Zhichen and Yuyan…” Her eyes blinked twice.

It wasn’t lost to her that he’d been keeping tabs about the twins’ custody. She just couldn’t figure out if they should celebrate that the issue would be resolved soon.

When it dawned upon her that it was about the twins, her face changed from worry to fear. She had heard from her husband what kind of man the twin’s father was, and she swore in her heart that she wouldn’t let the twins go back to their father if he wasn’t a changed man.

“See, I told you nothing happened yet. Now, you are worrying about them again,” Shen Yi scolded her, his other hand reaching out to smoothen her tangled hair.

If they got the custody of the twins, maybe they’d need to change their living arrangements. It would be nice if the academy allowed Lu Xinyi to stay at home with the twins than stay alone at Lunar Residence.

“I can’t help it. I really miss them. The overseas calls they made were too short. Are they coming back soon?”

“They should be. Aunt An is aware of the hearing. They should be present once the judges pass the decision. Don’t overthink it. Now, how was your meeting with Zheng Yue?” Shen Yi tried to persuade his wife not to think about the twins’ custody for now.

Releasing a sigh, Lu Xinyi slumped her upper body on their dining table.

“So easy to find her mother. Qiao He already has the lead to find her, but Zheng Yue holds this resentment towards her mother. I don’t know if it’s enough to just find her mother and move on.”

Shen Yi blinked rapidly.

He hadn’t thought that his wife was as compassionate as this to a stranger she only met once. He didn’t think he’d fully comprehend what went through her mind sometimes. Her face showed traces of concern and worry as if Zheng Yue was a friend of hers.

“If she doesn’t want to meet her, then you can only respect her own decision. You don’t need to meddle with her personal affairs,” he reminded her.

“I know.” Lu Xinyi fiddled with her hair as she thought.

“So what are you planning to do now?” he asked.

“I’m going to visit her mother tomorrow.” Lu Xinyi sighed and stood up, resuming her plan to proceed with their dinner. ρꪖꪕᦔꪖꪕꪫꪣꫀꪶ

“Want me to go with you?” Shen Yi followed her to the kitchen and pulled up his sleeves to help her wash the vegetables.

“Oh, that would be nice, but you have to wear a disguise if you are to accompany me. I don’t want women flocking around you when we’re in public.” She pouted.

It wasn’t lost to her that when they took their second honeymoon and visited a museum, her husband attracted everyone’s attention with his presence. The only thing that consoled her was the fact that it was the same event that made their relationship known to the public.

Her husband chuckled. It was rare for Lu Xinyi to show jealousy when it came to him. Shen Yi cherished these rare moments, proving that food wasn’t the only one in her priority list. He watched as his wife turned on the stove and started cooking the meat. The scent of searing meat began permeating inside their kitchen.

“It seems Chairman Sun finally found out about our marriage. He sent an invitation for the two of us to attend the anniversary celebration for Sun Corporation,” Shen Yi said after a long silence between them.

“I didn’t know the Shen and Sun family still try to be cordial to each other,” Lu Xinyi replied as she turned the meat to the other side to cook it evenly.

“It’s all for public appearance. The Shen family would occasionally send invitations to their family, but it’s rare to meet them personally. Meeting with Sun Ruying and Chairman Sun wasn’t in the plan then.”

If Shen Yi hadn’t mentioned, Lu Xinyi would’ve forgotten her confrontation with her aunt before. She would have forgotten about it.

“Does the Shen family give them a face these past years?”

Shen Yi shook his head. None of the Shen family members attended parties and events hosted by the Sun family, but this company anniversary event, he might give it an exemption.

Knowing what her husband was thinking, Lu Xinyi grinned.

“Wanna see a good show at their party?”

The evil smile that crossed on her lips should’ve made Shen Yi deny the idea of attending Sun family’s party, but since Lu Xinyi was invited as well, he was eager to know what she was planning.

“You still have a week to prepare if you want to attend it.”

“That’s fine,” Lu Xinyi shrugged. She took the cut vegetables Shen Yi prepared earlier and tossed it in the pan. “My new bodyguard should arrive in three days. Zheng Yue’s problem should be dealt with by the time comes.”

Shen Yi’s mouth set in a hard line when he remembered their deal.

“Are you sure you want them as your bodyguards? You know I can provide a better team than that group.”

Lu Xinyi turned off the heat and wiped her hands clean. She shook her head as she made her way to sit across him back at their dining table.

“Hubby, you aren’t trying to back out on your words, are you?”

“No, as long as they aren’t useless and wouldn’t betray you.”

A mercenary group as her own personal bodyguards? Maybe it wasn’t a bad idea at all as long as those wolves wouldn’t bite down their fangs on this little devil.
