“Do you really think I don’t remember?” Huo Mian chuckled.

They looked at each other and smiled; they knew what the other person was thinking without actually saying it.

Four years ago, Qin Chu returned home to China and married Huo Mian. Even though he wasn’t the nicest guy in the world during the process, Huo Mian was still willing to go through with the marriage…

It was good that they gave each other a second chance…

Once, Qin Chu and Huo Mian were in the car and a song came on the radio. At that time, Qin Chu started talking about California.

Qin Chu said that California was a beautiful place and somsomedaye would take Huo Mian there.

He was a person that kept his promises and he worked hard to make those promises real.

They had a tight schedule, but Qin Chu still put in the time and effort to take Huo Mian to California, so they could see the sunset together.

They were engulfed in a world of their own.

Huo Mian savoured every second of this.

She didn’t believe that the dream she pictured could become reality.

“Thank you, honey, for fulfilling this wish of mine…” Huo Mian smiled sweetly.

Her smile right then and there would be stored in Qin Chu’s memories forever.

Sometimes, the human eye was the best camera as it was capable of recording emotions that the camera could not.

To Qin Chu, Huo Mian’s smile was better than anything else in the world…

This may be what people call “true love”.

The two continued driving into the night and by 7 PM, the sky had darkened.

There were no cities nearby.

For safety’s sake, Huo Mian didn’t let Qin Chu drive.

“Honey, let’s find a place to rest for the night and we can continue our journey tomorrow.”

“I’m not tired. Maybe you could take the wheel for a bit. I promise you I won’t start going under your dress.”

Huo Mian was speechless.

“This isn’t the point. The point is that I don’t know how to drive here. I don’t even have an American driver’s license… I’m just not used this… What if we get into an accident?”

“I understand. According to the GPS, there’s a motel in four kilometers. Let’s stay there for the night.”

“Okay.” Huo Mian nodded, satisfied with Qin Chu’s response.

Finally, the two arrived at a surprisingly pretty motel in the middle of nowhere.

Qin Chu talked to the owner and paid for the room.. He also paid them to wash his car.

Then, Qin Chu led Huo Mian to their motel room.

They showered and changed.

It was the first time Huo Mian stayed at a motel since motels weren’t a thing in China. She felt everything was rather fresh.

“Are you enjoying the trip?” Qin Chu asked her.

“Yeah. It’s my first time in a motel. I’ve never seen anything like this, and this place is rather cute.”

“Americans are rather sentimental people… They don’t open romance hotels but you can still find that feel in other places.”

“You’re right.” Huo Mian smiled.

“Are you hungry?” Qin Chu went over and touched her face softly.

“A little.”

“Let’s go and eat something.”

Then, Qin Chu led Huo Mian out of their motel room.

They were wearing white T-shirts and looked younger than they actually were.

“Sir, what do you recommend?” Qin Chu said in fluent English.

“Hamburgers, sandwiches, or fried chicken,” the tall and strong-looking Caucausian restaurant owner responded.

Qin Chu looked at Huo Mian.

“Hamburger,” Huo Mian said in a soft voice.

“Two hamburgers and two coke please.”

Then, Qin Chu put his American dollars on the table.

The two chose a window seat.

At this time, five young people, three Caucasians and two African Americans, suddenly walked in through the door.

They were young hipster-looking people with tattoos all over their arms… It was likely that they were local gangsters.

The leader of the gang looked at Huo Mian and Qin Chu when he came in.

They whispered in English. Then they started laughing loudly and their smiles were filled with mockery.

Huo Mian started to get a subtle feeling of unease…
