“Xixi…” Rick could no longer keep his composure. He tightly held onto Xixi and yelled her name. He thought Xixi was threatening him to make him stay. Never did he expect that she would actually pull the trigger.

Everything happened too fast and he was not able to react to anything. His mind was full of Xixi.

Xixi lied in his chest, bleeding away…

“This way, I will never have to live without you again…” she uttered in a weak voice and smiled.

Rick felt that something deep inside him was getting torn apart, and he was in heart-wrenching pain.

He hugged Xixi, with tears running down his face like a waterfall.

“Xixi, don’t sleep. Wake up!”

Huo Mian rushed over.

“Qin Chu, help me save Xixi. I can’t let her die…” Rick looked at Qin Chu like a helpless child.

Huo Mian did not understand why Rick was being so bleak so she yelled at Rick angrily, “Why save her? Just let her die and she’d be free from your torture forever!”

“Honey, calm down…” Qin Chu held onto Huo Mian’s shoulder.

“How can I calm down? Look at how Xixi is right now…” Huo Mian was extremely agitated.

“Let’s save her first and we can talk later.”

Qin Chu was still able to maintain his composure. He swiftly picked up Xixi with both hands and brought her to the car.

Luckily, South Hill Manor was very close to South Side so they were able to send Xixi to the hospital in a timely manner.

Qin Chu changed into a surgeon’s gown and followed into the surgery room.

Because Huo Mian was still emotionally unstable, Qin Chu ordered her to stay outside.

Before Qin Chu went into the surgery room, Rick held onto Qin Chu’s hand and said, “Bro, I’m going to leave this to you.”

Qin Chu knew what Rick meant. Rick had faith in him so he nodded and said, “Leave it to me. I’ll save her.”

Huo Mian and Rick waited outside the surgery room.

Huo Mian didn’t say anything to Rick because she might have blamed Rick for all the tragedies Xixi had to go through.

Xixi was a young and beautiful girl from a peaceful and nice family. She had some good friends and studied abroad. She was supposed to be a lucky person in life but because of Rick, who had a special background and a cold personality, Xixi was now in such a tragic position. Huo Mian felt bad for Xixi.

“Professor Qin, the patient’s heartbeat is very unstable. Her pulse is almost flat…” a nurse said worriedly.

Qin Chu was already put in a tough situation.

Since Xixi sought death, she pointed the gun at her precordium, a very critical spot.

“Cardioversion!” Qin Chu said with no hesitation.

The operation lasted four full hours. During this time, none of Rick’s subordinates dared to ask him to leave.

Just like that, the four stayed at the hospital from evening to midnight.

At 1 AM, Qin Chu came out of the surgery room, exhausted. He took off his mask.

Huo Mian and Rick immediately rushed over.

“Honey, how’s Xixi?” Huo Mian asked before Rick could say anything.

“I took out the bullets but we need to observe her condition for 48 hours before we can say she’s safe,” Qin Chu responded.

Huo Mian and Rick were finally able to breathe a sigh of relief when they heard that Xixi was still alive.

“Chu, I want to see her,” Rick said in a low voice.

“You can’t now. She’s still in critical condition and she must be observed under a clean, bacteria-free environment. You can look at her through the glass though,” Qin Chu suggested.

Huo Mian turned around and looked at Rick angrily. “Let me tell you this! Xixi’s life is still in danger. If she dies like this, you will regret this for the rest of your life!”
