Chapter 225: Hiding

The Chen Village wasn’t far, but because Xue Dagui walked slowly and hummed a tune as he walked, it took him quite a while to reach the village.

Seeing that Chen Village was right in front of him, Xue Dagui was about to walk over, but suddenly, Chen Laoba and Zhang Meili came out of the village, tugging at each other.

Xue Yan immediately squinted her eyes and said to Jiang Yue in a low voice, “That’s Chen Laoba.”

Jiang Yue didn’t know Chen Laoba before, but she knew Zhang Meili. When she saw Zhang Meili walking out of the Chen Village with a particularly strong and dark man, she guessed that this was Chen Laoba.

Hearing Xue Yan’s words, she nodded. Then, she pulled Xue Yan along to hide better so that no one would see them.

“We should have guessed it right.” Jiang Yue also lowered her voice.

That Xue Zhuzi really didn’t look like Xue Dagui’s biological son, but his eldest aunt’s father.

This time, Xue Yan nodded.

Xue Dagui took two more steps before he noticed Chen Laoba and Zhang Meili. One was his child’s uncle, and the other was his child’s mother. His child’s mother had returned to her parent’s home, but they were there pulling and tugging at each other. He didn’t know if it was instinct or something, but Xue Dagui subconsciously hid in the grass.

Xue Dagui watched as Chen Laoba and Zhang Meili dragged each other out of Chen Village. They didn’t go far but instead walked to the edge of the village. There was a slope in the distance as if they were about to say something that they were afraid others would hear. Xue Dagui slowly circled around them from behind, climbing over bit by bit.

Jiang Yue and Xue Yan also moved over slowly.

As Xue Yan moved, he looked at Chen Laoba, who was almost three times bigger than Xue Dagui. Xue Dagui was usually very lazy and tired, so he was not as strong as Chen Laoba. In addition, Zhang Meili also had some strength. If Xue Dagui were to fight with these two, he would definitely be at a disadvantage.

Adultery was a capital crime. If these two people knew that Xue Dagui knew about their affairs, would they make sure that Xue Dagui would never say it in order to live?

In his previous life, it was probably because Xue Dagui found out about the two of them. Then, no matter which side made the first move, Xue Dagui died in the end.

At the thought of this, Xue Yan lowered his voice and said to Jiang Yue, “Xue Dagui isn’t a match for them alone, and it’s not good for you to make a move and let others find out that something’s wrong with you. If Xue Dagui is so angry that he wants to make a move later, we’ll stop him first and not alert them. Whether to go back and find someone to come back with Xue Dagui or to report to the officials, it will be up to Xue Dagui’s will.”

Jiang Yue understood what he meant. In order to prevent Xue Dagui from ending up like he did in his previous life and dying today, he could not allow Xue Dagui to be impulsive and fight against these two people.

She had eyes, and she knew that if they really fought, Xue Dagui definitely wouldn’t be a match for the two of them.

Once they alerted the authorities, it would be either Zhang Meili or Xue Dagui who would die. After all, the sentence for adultery was the death penalty.

Although she wasn’t afraid of trouble, she had to admit that it would be a lot more troublesome if she were to alert the enemy.

By doing this, they could give Xue Dagui the final choice. In the end, this was Xue Dagui’s own business.

“Okay.” Jiang Yue nodded and lowered her voice.

Xue Dagui didn’t know that Jiang Yue and Xue Yan were slowly following him from a position not far away. He just climbed straight to the slope where Chen Laoba and Zhang Meili were standing.
