“Bam bam bam”, a hammering of fists pounded against the door, reverberating in her ears, Tang Mo’er’s pupils contracted as she sat on the carpet, wanting to block it all out. Rocking back and forward, she subconsciously held herself tightly in her arms, eyes blank as she was brought back vividly to a scene in the depths of her mind—

A 5-year-old girl held on to a ragged doll as she played in the living room, the owner of the doll was her younger sister but she eventually got sick of it and threw it in the bin. The girl had picked it up from the bin.

It was truly lonely. She was only a little girl of five years and was isolated by the entire world.

Picking up the ragged doll, she hugged it in her thin arms.

Without warning, the apartment door opened, a drunken man walked in and the girl shivered, calling him ‘Uncle’ as her voice trembled in fear.

The Uncle looked strangely at the girl, with her soft, fair skin, before pulling her up to sit on his lap. With practised ease, he lifted her skirt, fingers rough and invasive as he touched her legs, inching up towards her underwear.

The little girl was terrified, she bit the Uncle and raced back to her room. She locked the room door, but the drunken uncle refused to give up, he chased over while pounding his hands against her room door.

The room was dark and the little girl was shaking out in fear. She was afraid of the monstrous Uncle. She was afraid that he would break through the door and come in. The fear and wallowing darkness swallowed her up like a demon and became one of her biggest nightmares.

It took a long time before the pounding on the door finally stopped. It looked like that piece of garbage had finally left. Crawling across the carpet, Tang Mo’er fumbled her way in the darkness before she finally reached the door. Once she reached it, she pulled it open and stumbled out.

Along the corridor, Tang Mo’er ran with all her might. Finally, she arrived in front of the VIP presidential suite, leaning down to catch her breath. Gu Mohan’s room was inside. She needed to see him.

Instead, she saw a familiar figure by the entrance. It was Huo Beichen, his body pressed against an innocent-looking woman with long flowy hair, against the opposite wall.

Tang Mo’er knew of the woman, she was a popular social media influencer named Zhou Li.

Zhou Li turned over while letting out a flirtatious giggle. Pushing Huo Beichen seductively against the wall, she crouched down in front of him.

Tang Mo’er ignored the pair and walked past them with a poker face, before knocking on the room door opposite.

As Huo Beichen was enjoying himself, he squinted his eyes and looked over when he heard footsteps, it was a woman he detested, Tang Mo’er.

He didn’t stop what he was doing, Huo Beichen was infamous in Karghalik for being a dictator. More often than not, he handled matters in an unreasonable way and was a petty man who didn’t let off those who offended him. From the time when Tang Mo’er mocked him for being gay, he remembered it even now and held a deep grudge towards her.

However, despite his tyrannical behavior, he had good looks and was prettier than most women. This enabled him to attract the entire population of Karghalik and everyone loved him, regardless of whether they were male or female. Unrestrained was the perfect way to describe him, he changed his partners as frequently as he would change his clothing.

A lazy gaze swept unabashedly over Tang Mo’er, eyes unblinking when he saw her only in a thin nightdress with delicate straps. The woman was just like a branch trembling in the wind when she was dressed like that. No wonder his Second Brother was taken with her, she was most definitely a stunner.

The corner of his lips raised into an evil smirk. “Cut it out, Second Brother isn’t here.”

Tang Mo’er didn’t look at him, she took out her cell phone and made a phone call.

Huo Beichen stretched out his large palm and tugged on her long hair. “Tang Mo’er, I am warning you, stop pestering my Second Brother. Qi’er is favored by my aunt to be her one and only daughter-in-law. You are nothing, at most, you’re just a plaything. You may be sleeping with my Second Brother, but I’d advise you to get a compensation sum and leave my Second Brother before he gets sick of you.”

Gu Mohan’s mother, Huo Yanmei, was Huo Beichen’s aunt, the Gu’s and Huo’s had a profit-motivated marriage after Madam Xuanji passed away.

Tang Mo’er raised her cold and beautiful eyes and looked at Huo Beichen, not saying a word as she walked up to Huo Beichen. Taking out her cell phone, she held it up so it was facing Beichen and Zhou Li. ‘Click’, a distinct shutter sound could be heard.

She took a photograph.

Huo Beichen pushed Zhou Li away instantly and zipped his pants and pressed Tang Mo’er’s tiny wrist against the wall with his large palm as he growled at her, “F*ck, Tang Mo’er what the hell did you just do?”
