Chapter 905: The Grand Wedding (1)

One hour later.

Lu Jinwen held Lin Xuanji’s hand as he walked over from the City Hall. He held two red books in his hands.

She finally became his wife.

The skies were clear today, the sun bright and hot. Lu Jinwen looked at her under the beautiful light. “Mrs Lu.”

She was Mrs Lu, his Mrs Lu.

Lin Xuanji’s red lips curved upwards. “Mr Lu.”

“Not Mr Lu. Call me something else.”

Something else?

He stared at her passionately, his gaze so full of feeling and fiery it could melt a person. She knew what he was thinking.

They were already past the age of being sappy. Lin Xuanji tried taking her hand back, but couldn’t do so even after a few tries.

At this moment, pain suddenly shot through her heart.

Hiss.

She hissed in pain.

Lu Jinwen paled. “What happened? Is it hurting again?”

The last few words got stuck in his throat, as he saw a few droplets of blood flow out from Lin Xuanji’s mouth.

He froze.

Lin Xuanji wiped the blood from the corners of her mouth, her face extremely pale. Her beautiful eyes landed on his handsome face and she smiled gently. “I’m sorry, I forgot to tell you something. The doctor told me that I won’t be able to make it past the 30th of this month.”

What she meant was, she had less than a month of life left.

Lu Jinwen froze for a few seconds, before carrying her up. His husky voice betrayed little emotion. “Mrs Lu, let’s go home first.”

Home.

Lin Xuanji’s eyelashes quivered at that word.

Lu Jinwen bent over and kissed her forehead. “We might be busy tonight, so let me know when your body feels uncomfortable.”

Lu Family Manor.

This was a European style manor with cream colored towers shining as bright as diamonds. There was a bridge over a clear river and an endless field of colorful dandelions, which floated over the entire manor whenever the autumn breeze blew by. They were extremely beautiful.

Butler Ye opened the metal doors to the manor, and Lu Jinwen walked in with Lin Xuanji in hand.

Lin Xuanji looked at this fairytale-like place and froze. The colorful dandelions floated lightly past her face and she closed her eyes.

At this moment a bell-like laughter rang out. “Grandma, you’re finally back! Niuniu missed you so much.” Little Munchkin pounced on her, hugging onto her calves.

Lin Xuanji quickly patted Little Munchkin’s head. “Niuniu, Grandma missed you too.”

“Grandma, do you like this place? This is the new home Grandpa prepared for you. You and Grandpa will stay here in the future.”

New home.

Lin Xuanji looked sideways at Lu Jinwen. He was gazing at her gently. Her heartbeat seemed to accelerate.

“Grandma, Grandpa even prepared a beautiful wedding dress for you. Come! Come and see it!” Little Munchkin pulled Lin Xuanji inside.

Upstairs.

He opened the door to the room and led Lin Xuanji inside. Her footsteps suddenly came to a halt.

In the room was a white off-shoulder wedding dress. There were hand-sewn lace flowers adorned on it, and the waistline was cinched in at the middle. Below that lay the skirt, made up of winding layers of sheer white. The dress was breathtakingly beautiful.

A woman’s most beautiful moment in her lifetime would be when she put on a wedding dress. Lin Xuanji walked forward and touched the dress. Tears suddenly welled up in her eyes.

Her dream when she was a younger woman was to marry Lu Jinwen and wear the most beautiful dress for him.

The day had finally come, but it was too late.

She was already past her most beautiful years.

“Mom.” At this moment, she heard a gentle voice beside her ear.

Lin Xuanji lifted her eyes to see Mo’er.

Tang Mo’er’s red lips curved upwards and she ran over to grab her mother’s hands, acting coy. There was a sheen of tears in her bright eyes. “Mom, you’re finally going to be married.”

“Silly child.” Lin Xuanji reached out to hug Tang Mo’er. Like that, mother and daughter shared a warm embrace.

At this moment, a series of footsteps approached them. Tang Chenyi had rushed over from Country A. He took off his black gloves and handed them over to Fan Men. Seeing his mother and sister embracing, his cold eyes softened. Walking forward, his thin lips curved into a smile. “Mom, I wish you a happy marriage.”

No matter what decision their mother made, both son and daughter would approve and support her. It was fine as long as their mother was happy.

Lin Xuanji raised her hand and pulled Tang Chenyi into the embrace. Both her son and daughter were beside her right now.

She had no other wishes for her remaining life other than to love those around her. It was the only way she would not have any regrets.

In the living room below, Gu Mohan sat on the sofa, looking at Lu Jinwen opposite him. He raised his eyebrows unhappily. “Dad, you’re really too much. Mo’er and I haven’t even had our wedding ceremony yet. You and mom are going to beat us to it?”

Lu Jinwen lifted his eyes and looked at Gu Mohan lightly. “You have a problem with that?”

“No!” Gu Mohan quickly shook his head.

Lu Jinwen retracted his gaze. At this moment, Butler Ye walked over and handed over a list of guests. “Sir, the invitations have all been sent out, but Master Yan… here…”

Butler Ye wanted to speak but held his tongue.

Lu Yan was supposed to have died three years ago. Today was the Lu and Lin families’ big wedding, all the aristocrats and wealthy families of the Capital would be there. There would be great commotion, and there was no way Lu Yan could expose himself.

But Lu Yan was Lu Jinwen’s adopted son and their relationship was strong. On such an important day, Lu Yan would definitely be back.

“I understand.” Lu Jinwen’s handsome face betrayed no emotion. He raised his eyes and looked at Gu Mohan. “Mohan, how has your sister been these three years?”

“Very well,” Gu Mohan said as he took a sip of tea.

Lu Jinwen gave a laugh. “Are you playing dumb with me? We both know why Ah Yan lost his leg three years ago. If not for the fact that Ah Yan was unwilling, I would have already sent your sister over to service him. Would Huo Yanmei have had the chance to cause such trouble?”

Gu Mohan put down his teacup and raised his sharp brows. “Actually, I would rather have sent An’an to Master Yan these three years. Maybe she would have led a better life.”

Lu Jinwen remained silent.

At this moment, a phone rang. Gu Mohan picked up the call. It was Fu Qinglun.

Fu Qinglun was here to attend the wedding.

“Dad, Qinglun is here. I’ll go fetch him.”

“Fu Qinglun?” Lu Jinwen read his name out. “He’s the one with a lot of skills, but no wife and child? Ha, birds of the same feather do flock together. Seems like you haven’t secured Mo’er as well. You two brothers share the same fate.”

Gu Mohan was speechless. The sarcasm and disdain was practically dripping from Lu Jinwen’s voice.

Alright, so he was being conceited?

Who was the one crying bitterly yesterday night? Now that Lin Xuanji was back today and he had become a groom, he was laughing at others.
