Chapter 167: Feral Pythons Leaderboard

Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation  Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

All of Jiangnan City was left in utter chaos, with traffic congestions, chain vehicle collisions, and civilians screaming without end after being struck by the sonic pulse. Every personnel from the Martial Arts Department had to be mobilized at the same instant, maintaining order alongside the military and public security outfits.

But as the confusion and discomfort from the sonic pulse faded, everyone looked up to the skies in curiosity.

There was at once shock, terror, and wonder…

The existence of Ferals was no longer a secret now, but civilians who had encountered Ferals were still in the minority. All they usually saw were videos and images on tv or the internet.

Now that a Feral had appeared before them, alive and kicking, how could they not be curious?

And it was one that was so powerful everyone was left palpitating.

***

Meanwhile, outside Hotel Caesar.

Jiang He was very nervous even if he looked out at the horizon.

Should he step forward and confess?

But what if he gets killed for it?

“Let’s hold back and see how this turns out first…” He muttered, changing his mind right then. “Old Brother Lin, what’s the story of that blue drake?”

Being a veteran rank-nine who knew a lot, Long Mountain Lin replied, “It’s the Blue King Drake, one of the most powerful Ferals which ascended during the early days in the Revival of Qi. It’s said that it was a tiny blue snake that lives in an old mountain forest and mistakenly ate some sort of treasure, hence evolving form snake to drake, becoming one the strongest Feral Kings in the Hua Nation with a single stroke.”

Glancing at Jiang He, Long Mountain Lin then added, “Incidentally, the government has categorized and ranked the most powerful Ferals known across the world. The Blue King Drake ranks third amongst Feral Pythons, whereas the Black King Drake ranks at twenty-one.”

Gasp!

Jiang He winced.

To think that the Blue King Drake was so amazing, yet only ranked third amongst Feral Pythons.

And before he could ask, Long Mountain Lin explained, “On top of the Feral Python leaderboard is the Nine-Headed Serpent, the Supreme Ruler of the Pacific Ocean. In second place is the Winged Serpent of the Amazon Rainforest, and in fourth place is the Titanoboa of the Atlantic Ocean.”

“The Nine-Headed Serpent? I know about that one.”

Jiang He said, “I think I read about it on the news that it attacked a certain island nation, even sinking one of its islands and inflicting up to three million casualties. Is the Nine-Headed Serpent really that amazing? To be fair, the Winged Serpent was a divine beast of legends, and if I’m not mistaken, the Titanoboa is also an abnormal ancient species, yes? That said, the Blue Drake King ascended from serpent to drake, and yet it’s still weaker?”

“But of course!”

Long Mountain Lin replied. “The Nine-Headed Serpent ascended even before the Revival of Qi. It was deified by the citizens of the island nation since several hundred years ago, meaning that it had been alive for that long in the very least. That said, it only became even more terrifying following the Revival of Qi.”

“…”

Jiang He was taken aback.

The Nine-headed Serpent was a god to the folks of the island nation?

A name surfaced on Jiang He’s mind then: Xiangliu.

Xiangliu, another creature from mythology shared the same appearance: nine heads, devouring countless humans and leaving floods in its wake. It loved to devour soil and could eat nine hills on a single go, and the water it spat was more devastating than floods.

Incidentally, Xiangliu was also a divine creature that the folks of the island nation worshipped.

Jiang He sighed. “Almost destroyed by the god they worshipped… the folks of the island nation are quite something.”

Long Mountain Lin grinned. “By the way, the human martial artist standing against the Blue Drake King is Pei Donglai, or Chief Commander Pei of Jiangnan Military Zone if you’re feeling formal. He’s said to be the top bladesman of the Hua Nation and is known as the Blade Sovereign, and one of mankind’s most powerful divine-tier elites. Obviously, he had gained his own providence, since it’s said he was just a normal human before the Revival of Qi.”

Glancing at Jiang He, he could not help chuckling. “Don’t worry. Your killing of the Black King Drake is lawful, and the Blue King Drake would never dare touch you… eh?”

Long Mountain Lin’s gaze shifted eastward abruptly then, and Jiang He looked there as well, having sensed something.

Over on the east horizon, several vague auras of Ferals shot up to the skies, each of which were above rank-nine. One of them was particularly eye-catching as it was a bloody presence that permeates heaven and earth—an aura that did not lose out to the Blue King Drake.

It was not only the Blue King Drake that had come calling!

“Blue King Drake!”

Bellowing in rage, a blade radiance landed between Chief Commander Pei’s fingers at a wave of his hand as Blade Qi overflowed. Though he appeared ready to fight at a moment’s notice, he questioned the Feral solemnly, “Do you really want a war?”

The Blue King Drake seemed to smirk even as it spoke human tongue, “Give us the one who slew Black King Drake and we would naturally leave… humans are no longer the only ones ruling Earth now, Pei Donglai.”

Pei Donglai sneered in return. “If a human elite had indeed slain a newly-ascended piece of trash, why would they stay anonymous? You claimed that my human elite had hidden their cultivation to blindside the Black King Drake, but what evidence do you have to show?”

“Evidence?”

The Blue King Drake’s enormous body swayed up in the air as it coolly said, “Black King Drake wasn’t alone on Chongming Island, and after it ascended as a Feral King, who else could kill it if it wasn’t a human elite?”

“Noisy!”

That was when an even voice resounded up in the air. Though the tone was almost apathetic, the words echoed over a hundred miles like a thunderclap.

Blue King Drake’s eyes narrowed as it looked out into the distance.

A figure had appeared over the horizon.

And while it was still far away at first, the figure covered a distance of almost a hundred miles. A profound might had descended from above just then, before the silhouette of a palm materialized out of thin air.

Boom!

The palm silhouette shot downwards, slapping towards the Blue King Drake.

Bellowing even as blue radiance shone radiantly over its body, the creature could not withstand the slap at all.

Pow!

Its gigantic thousand-meter long form was instantly left bloodied and bruised by the palm, and its body was sent falling down at Jiangnan City.

At the rate which it was falling, its enormous body would cause a massive earthquake throughout the city… but even before it could fall far, another massive hand materialized out of thin air again.

The hand, larger than the Blue King Drake, blanketed the skies and the sun—it easily caught the descending Feral with just two fingers, and then…

It threw the Feral.

Whoosh….

With that, the Blue King Drake was flung towards the direction where several auras of Feral Kings exploded.

Meanwhile, the figure had arrived.

It was Wang Hou in his Chinese tunic suit.

He looked downwards at Jiangnan and then at Pei Donglai, before stepping a single stride towards the distant wildlands.

Where he passed, the bodies of countless Ferals promptly exploded and died instantly.

“Wang Hou!”

The Blue King Drake roared furiously as it took to the air once more.

But no matter how one went about it, the roar was a tough face put out to conceal inner weakness…

“Wang Hou, give us the one who slew the Black King Drake and I will withdraw immediately.”

Wang Hou smiled flatly in return. “Barked again and I’ll crush you.”

The Blue King Drake: “…”

Aggrieved but no more than a sheep in wolf’s clothing, it retorted, “You were the one who set the agreement before, and yet you would renege upon it now? Your human elite had hidden his identity to kill the Black King Drake, and our brethren demand an answer for that.”

Wang Hou frowned…

He had arrived in such a rush that all he knew was the Blue King Drake’s rampage over the skies of Jiangnan… and did not understood the specifics.

But judging from the Blue King Drake’s words…

The Black King Drake was dead?

Who had killed it?

Noticing the look on Wang Hou’s face just then, the Blue King Drake sneered, “I knew you would renege on our agreement…”

Extending its talons and grabbing, it caught the rank-eight pangolin that had fled early in the battle, roaring as it said, “Use your spirit powers to project the appearance of that human elite who massacred Chongming Island last night. It’s the evidence of the human elite hiding his identity to assassinate the Black King Drake.”

Wang Hou twitched then.

Others notwithstanding, he was really keen on seeing which bugger had so much free time and ran off to kill the Black King Drake.

They didn’t even give me a shout before they did it… really, it’s like they aren’t worried about me—eh?

Wang Hou did a double take then.

What the hell…

The pangolin had projected Jiang He’s appearance up in the air with its spirit power.

Spirit powers were not solid and had no shape, but the pangolin’s projection of Jiang He’s appearance certainly could be seen by others in their spirit sense.
