Chapter 227: The Cultivation Method Jiang He Needs Most!

After seeing Cheng Dongfeng off, Jiang He walked around his farm and planted the two eggs of the Golden-Crowned Black Eagle.

Nonetheless, he felt a little weary that no buds were sprouting after waiting several dozen minutes.

“Eh?”

Jiang He yawned, at once surprised and delighted!

He actually felt a little sleepy?

How long has it been since he felt it?

After all, he had been left tossing and turning in bed reasonable, hardly falling asleep.

He had to stay up late every night until he could fall asleep, and it was not even dark out at the moment. How could he not feel surprised, even if it a little bit of drowsiness?

“Perhaps because I’ve resolved some potential problem by killing the Golden-Winged Roc, which is why I biologically recovered thanks to my relief?” Jiang He returned to the mansion and had a bath in the swimming pool, when he remembered something…

“No!”

“The reason I would feel tired and sleep is not because my obsession with killing the Golden-Winged Roc. I mean, how could my mind be at ease when the Sky Demon Cult isn’t wiped out yet?”

“It must be a repercussion form using Twenty-Three Swords.”

Jiang He chuckled bitterly, but soon became pleased.

Since using Twenty-Three Swords would hurt his mind, in turn causing fatigue and sleepiness—was that not the cultivation method he needed most?

It effectively helped him sleep… it was basically divine!

Jiang He returned to his room and lay on the soft big bed, and soon arrived at dreamland.

Outside the window, the sky was becoming dark.

It was already night.

***

Meanwhile, in front of a huge lake far inside Shennongjia.

A figure walked out of the shadows and walked up to the shores of the lake.

The figure was wearing black robes, and appeared to be a woman with a stunning figured when seen from behind.

Even so, the true looks of person when seen from the front had always been a cruel truth… beneath the black robes was an ugly face whose skin color resembled the Hulk’s.

Splash!

Waves abruptly churned in the lake as a thirty-meter-long ancient crocodile lunged out of the water, its maw opened wide as it bit down towards the black-robe figure.

“Freeze!”

The black-robed figure lightly pointed a single finger at the lunging crocodile.

Ooom!

A soft humming sound echoed, and the air actually froze, keeping the rank-seven Feral Crocodile up in the air.

“A trifling rank-seven daemon would dare to attack me, a cardinal?”

The black-robed figure spoke very hoarsely despite being a woman.

The lake churned again then, and an even larger crocodile surfaced from beneath the lake.

It was over 300 meters long and its body was covered in pitch-black scales seemingly cast from concrete steel, and its head resembled a dragon head with a single horn growing out of it.

In fact, it was the Dragoncroc Emperor itself.

And this lake was its lair.

Once the Dragoncroc Emperor appeared, the air around seemed to have become misty and its dark-golden gaze glinted coldly beneath the moon light. It stared coldly at the black-robed woman and spoke in human tongue, saying, “A human elite? No… I sense a special aura from your body, and you seem at once human at not.”

The woman lowered her hood then.

Her grotesque green face squirmed, becoming a normal human’s face.

She now had long blonde hair, exquisite facial features, and appeared foreign instead of resembling a Hua Nation citizen.

“I am a cardinal of the Sky Sage Faith, Dragoncroc Emperor. I have come to Shennongjia under the Saint’s decree to present you a gift.”

Whoosh!

The blonde woman whipped outa jade sword with a wave of his hand.

It was merely three inches long, but as it hovered before the Dragoncroc Emperor and was touched by its spirit, a message streamed inside the Feral’s mind as a spirit energy.

The Dragoncroc Emperor’s dark-golden eyes slowly closed then.

After around three minutes, the Dragoncroc Emperor opened its eyes again.

The imposing presence it exuded eased considerably, the killing intent fading from its eyes as it spoke, “Us daemons and humans may be like oil and water, but we are all life on earth. Go back.”

“What a shame.”

The blonde woman did not say anything else.

She slowly backed away, and it was only after she vanished into the darkness that her hoarse voice could be heard, “The human elites of the Hua Nation grow stronger by the day, Dragoncroc Emperor, whereas the daemons only have you and the Golden-Winged Roc championing the daemons in this country. Won’t you think about your race’s future?”

“If the human truly rises… would the daemons still have any space to live?”

“By the way, I forgot to mention—Cardinal Wu Dong is seeking out the Golden-Winged Roc to discuss this matter as well…”

With that, her voice faded.

That shadow was gone.

Floating on the surface of the lake, the Dragoncroc Emperor stared at the direction where the black-robed figure had disappeared and could not help sighing.

Huh…

These people really awakened some weird superpowers. That woman’s powers was not much, but she could run really quick… I did not even have the time to tell her about the Golden-Winged Roc.

Closing its eyes, the Dragoncroc Emperor submerged beneath the lake once more.

***

Nighttime, with the moon hanging high above.

It was the fifteenth of October, and the fifteenth day of the ninth month in the lunar calendar, which was why the moon was especially round and bright.

Another black-robed figure was hovering in the air beneath Mount Bukadaban.

Black mist surrounds the figure and there was a faint glimmer in his eyes. The hands exposed beneath the robes were rather deformed, a clear sign that it was the unlucky cardinal who was injured by Three Blades Lin soon after returning from his negotiations with the Graywolf King deep within Mount Dadong.

As a matter of fact, there was more than one cardinal of the Sky Demon Cult.

According to Sky Demon Cult rules, any believer who completed cultivation of the Boundary of Wills may be baptized in the Holy Lake and be promoted to a cardinal of the Sky Demon Cult.

Of course, the Boundary of Wills was not so easily cultivated, which was why there were only four cardinals in the Sky Demon Cult, with two being foreigners, including the blonde woman.

Incidentally, the one here at Bukadaban Peak was a Hua Nation citizen named Wu Dong.

He was a killer famed in the underworld long before the Revival of Qi, but was eventually put on every wanted list for assassinating a ranked official. With nowhere to go, he joined the Sky Demon Cult and became one of their hierarchs.

Still, Wu Dong could not be considered a human now.

After being baptized at the Holy Lake, his body was slowly mutating to resemble the sky demons.

Now, as Wu Dong stood in the air beneath Mount Bukadaban, a look of disbelief showed in his eyes. He turned stiffly to look around, only finding collapsed peaks, shattered glaciers and the traces of a terrible battle everywhere.

“What…”

“What actually happened?”

Wu Dong could not find the Golden-Winged Roc even after reaching its roost.

A foreboding feeling arose inside, and Wu Dong muttered to himself in disbelief, “No way, no way… the Golden-Winged Roc is an Emperor-class Feral. Who could have hurt it?”

He felt much grief at that!

Damn!

What the heck?

Am I really that unlucky?

He had already come to an agreement with the Graywolf King in its journey to Mount Dadong, only to find that all the elites he was leading died without exception. Now, under orders from the Saint to discuss another agreement with the Golden-Winged Roc, he certainly did not expect…

That the Golden-Winged Roc would be gone.

Its nest was basically blown up.

As he stared at the golden feathers all over the ground, Wu Dong even suspected that someone had killed the Golden-Winged Roc…

“Whatever!

“The Saint can’t blame me with the Golden-Winged Roc not around.

“It’s a full-moon tonight. Time to find the Graywolf King to open the heritage site!”

Wu Dong clenched his teeth and laughed coldly. “I will not believe that I would be unlucky for a third-time. Try spooking me when I’m opening the heritage site too!”
