After a day and a night, Jiang Chen formed three holy points successfully, then slept to recover his energy.
He had planned to rescue Shui Sheng after waking up, but to his surprise, Mo Li’s guys found him first.
“Someone is inside!”
Jiang Chen heard a great disturbance from outside. He pushed the door open and saw a group of people had intruded past the gate and walked into the yard.
Everyone stared at him when they saw him standing at the door.
“It’s him, the one who exchanged for the fierce black metal,” a guy shouted in surprise.
It turned out that the Mos hadn’t given up when they lost track of Jiang Chen. They had been searching the City of Wolf and finally found him.
“What are you up to?” Jiang Chen asked, although he knew.
The people glanced at each other and moved quickly to surround him in a ring. The leader was a handsome youngster in the peak of the late stage of the Gathering Yuan State.
“Are you the guy who ignored the Mos and traded for the fierce black metal?” the youngster questioned him.
“Yes, so what?” Jiang Chen was still in his disguise as a rude man. He opened his eyes wide and gave the youngster an angry glare.
The youngster paid no attention to his anger at all. He raised his chin and squared his shoulders. He said arrogantly, “I’m Mo Fei, young master of the Mos. My third eldest brother needs the fierce black metal desperately. Could you give up your treasure and give it to us?”
“You’re asking for my permission, but it sounds like if I refuse, terrible things will happen to me,” Jiang Chen said coldly.
Mo Fei shrugged his shoulders and said, “The Mos won’t take advantage of you. Or, you don’t want to be associated with the Mos?”
“Of course I don’t want to be associated to the Mos. You imprisoned a weak girl. What a reputation you have!” Jiang Chen said sarcastically.
Mo Fei’s expression changed. He flew into a rage and said in a low voice, “You’re provoking the Mos and insulting my third eldest brother!”
“Isn’t this what you’re aiming for? You can’t rob me openly, so you’re picking a quarrel aggressively so that your brother, who is ranked on the Prince List, will have the excuse to fight me.”
Jiang Chen glanced at the others, then looked towards Mo Fei. He said, “I’ll give you this chance. Listen to me carefully. Your brother is rubbish. Decisive in killing? No, he’s nothing but a bully.”
The Mos were shocked by his words.
If Mo Li had heard him, he wouldn’t show any mercy to this guy.
“Do you know what you just said?!” Mo Fei shouted.
“Yeah, so what?”
“Great! Attack! Take him down and teach him a lesson!” Mo Fei said.
Among the group, there were two guys in the Mental Wander State, one in the beginning of the preliminary stage, and all the others in the completed preliminary stage. There were also some others holding the line. Jiang Chen was at a disadvantage.
“Don’t show any mercy,” Mo Fei added.
What he meant was obvious. The Mos were teaching a lesson to this guy since he had used offensive language. If he tried to fight back and was killed, they were not the ones to blame.
It wouldn’t affect Mo Li’s rank on the Prince List.
At the same time, Mo Fei could claim the fierce black metal.
Those who came with him also knew that clearly. The two Mental Wander States sneered. One of them was standing on the left, the other standing on the right. One used a knife, the other a sword. Both of them were cruel and ruthless.
“Hehe.”
They were still very young. They might achieve something big one day.
It was a pity that they would die in this place on this day.
Jiang Chen raised his sword. The radiance of the sword jumped like an electric arc, leaving an untraceable path in the air.
Before Mo Fei and his guys realized what had happened, they saw the two lying on the ground, bleeding.
“You—You!”
Mo Fei was shocked by Jiang Chen’s power, and he hadn’t expected Jiang Chen to have the nerve to be so heavy-handed. Mo Fei was both surprised and scared.
“You’re doomed. No one can save you. Let’s wait and see!”
Then he turned around, ready to leave.
“Did I say you could go?” Jiang Chen said.
That was what worried Mo Fei the most. He was relatively calm. He didn’t run away, but turned around to face Jiang Chen. He said, “Are you going to kill me?”
“Mo Li is famous for being decisive in killing. If he were here, he would kill me for sure, so why should I let you go?”
Jiang Chen grinned. His killing intent was as chilling as frost, numbing them.
“No, don’t…” Mo Fei couldn’t refute Jiang Chen, but he didn’t want to die. He didn’t know how to persuade Jiang Chen, but he wouldn’t have to. Jiang Chen moved, sliding across the ground.
He brushed past Mo Fei and stopped at the gate.
“Take his dead body to Mo Li. Tell him this is only the beginning.”
Then, he left without looking back.
Mo Fei was covering his throat that had been cut open, but blood kept spattering out. The others were scared silly.
When they looked outside the gate, Jiang Chen had disappeared.
Jiang Chen walked towards the city center. He removed his disguise to show his real face.
The square was in the same state as some days ago. There weren’t many people, but there weren’t just a few either. They were wandering around the cage, some feeling remorse or empathy, some even gloating.
Jiang Chen’s arrival didn’t catch anyone’s attention, not until he came up to the cage.
“Jiang Chen?”
Two youngsters showed up before him. They were Xu Tao and Han Qianye. Jiang Chen had saved them once.
They were staring at him as if he was a ghost.
Jiang Chen ignored them and kept walking, then saw Tan Yun standing under the cage, looking up and speaking. “Shui Sheng, what should I say to you? You didn’t have to stick up for him back there. You didn’t help Jiang Chen at all, and now you’ve ended up like this.”
Shui Sheng didn’t answer. Maybe she didn’t want to. Maybe she wasn’t able to. It was silent in the cage.
Tan Yun flew into a rage. She crossed her arms over her chest and said, “Do you think you’re the only noble person in the world? You’re honest and upright, while others are just worms in a ditch? Let me tell you one thing: this is how it works in this world. Your kindness is nothing but foolishness!”
“I’ve seen the dark side of the world, but I still believe in the good of humanity.” Shui Sheng slightly moved her head. Her voice was weak and hoarse, but as unshakable as a mountain.
Tan Yun was struck dumb. She suddenly kicked the food she had brought and said angrily, “I’m interested to see how you’ll look when you starve to death. Bah!”
Suddenly, Tan Yun sensed someone behind her. She was given a scare and hurried to jump away.
When she was about to look back to see who it was, she was slapped across the face.
“Jiang Chen!” Shui Sheng called him immediately.
“Jiang Chen?”
Tan Yun was covering her face where she had been slapped. She couldn’t believe it, but she did see Jiang Chen standing there, as upright as a sharp sword.
Whoosh!
He threw his sword out and the cage was open. Shui Sheng fell, and he caught her in his arms.
“Look out!” Shui Sheng shouted with her last bit of strength left.
This square had been a trap for a long time.
The machine-operated snake dashed over fiercely. Machines throwing bolts appeared out of nowhere and put the whole square under siege.
Jiang Chen flew into the sky as the spear-like bolts were shot at him. They were moving extensively at high speeds, covering the whole sky above the square.
“He’s so fast!” Tan Yun exclaimed.
Yet Jiang Chen continued to move even faster. He flew high enough that all of the bolts hit nothing.
Jiang Chen took Shui Sheng to an isolated peak and put her down. He fed her some panaceas and treated her.
“Wait for me here,” Jiang Chen said after finishing everything.
“Where are you going?” Shui Sheng asked, confused.
Jiang Chen stood up and looked at the City of Wolf that was far away. He said, “To get revenge for you.”
