Chapter 1631: Mind Having One More?

Jiang Chen explained to Fei Yue what had happened earlier, trying to keep his voice as calm as possible.

Hearing that she’d been exuding a foul odor from her body, Fei Yue was ashamed.

As the story ended, her face and neck had become bright red.

“Are you saying that you’ve seen all of me?” Fei Yue’s voice was faint and soft. She was too shy to lift her head.

“I don’t think that it was the first time,” Jiang Chen said, only half-joking.

They’d had a sensual incident when they were both students at the Sacred Institute a long time ago.

“You need to be more responsible for me.”

Fei Yue raised her eyes, glanced at the person sitting on the edge of her bed, and then pulled back swiftly. Her small white teeth were gently biting her lips.

“How should I be responsible?” Jiang Chen chuckled.

Fei Yue was vexed that Jiang Chen was asking her when he already knew the answer. She grumbled, “Out, get out. I’m about to change.”

After waiting outside of Fei Yue’s chamber for about 15 minutes, Jiang Chen saw the lovely lady emerge wearing her favorite clothes.

“Let’s take a walk,” Jiang Chen said.

As soon as he’d finished his sentence, Jiang Chen and Fei Yue disappeared from where they’d been and arrived at the site of some lush green mountains.

Fei Yue, after being held captive for so long, showed a pleased look on her face. She breathed the fresh air in deeply and felt the warm and gentle breeze.

Sharing a tacit understanding, Jiang Chen and Fei Yue didn’t talk about sensitive subjects. They walked around and relaxed.

“How is it going with your apprentice sister?” Fei Yue asked casually, as she was looking at the splendid view of the mountains.

Her memories of him were still from the time when Jiang Chen had left for the Three Middle Realms, and she didn’t know what had happened afterward.

“It’s been somewhat satisfying, albeit with some zigzags in the course,” Jiang Chen said.

“Is she the only one?” Fei Yue dropped her voice, sounding extra careful.

Jiang Chen shook his head.

“Two?” Fei Yue took a guess.

Jiang Chen remained silent with a smile.

“Three?” Fei Yue continued.

Jiang Chen shrugged slightly.

“Four?” Fei Yue couldn’t help but look at him with a sullen look. She hadn’t expected Jiang Chen to be a ladies’ man.

“Yes,” Jiang Chen admitted honestly.

Pouting her cherry lips, Fei Yue gazed at Jiang Chen with her bright black eyes.

“Then, do you mind having one more?”

Jiang Chen wasn’t surprised by her words. He shook his head gently. “You’re one of the most important women in my life. But it doesn’t mean we have to be together.”

Fei Yue was also unsurprised hearing Jiang Chen’s answer. She’d just felt compelled to ask him for a sense of resolution.

She exhaled a long breath and squeezed out a smile after hearing Jiang Chen’s reply.

“I understand. Let’s go back.”

Looking at Fei Yue’s teary eyes, Jiang Chen felt somewhat hurt and sad. But he knew it wasn’t the right time to be sentimental.

Fei Yue detected his thoughts and wiped away her tears.

Neither of them talked on their way back.

…..

Meanwhile, the capital was in turmoil. The political cleansing was taking place.

The Lying Dragon Clique dared not resist after realizing that the Marquis Champion had come back.

The few people who were still unwilling to accept the situation had been executed.

By the time Fei Yue returned to the Palace, all the officers had arrived at the main hall and were waiting for her.

“In one month, I’ll have the Flying Dragon Dynasty united as one, fight for the opportunities at East Ridge, and strive for an Immortal Dynasty!”

Unlike her demeanor in front of Jiang Chen, Fei Yue had gained back her manner as the Empress. Adding to the breakthrough in her state of awareness, her stately majesty compelled everyone to lower their heads.

“Empress, we’re already three years behind everyone else. What should we do?” Somebody asked.

Sometimes, catching up after sudden enlightenment wasn’t enough.

The reality was that you could be so far behind other people before you even realized it.

Time was the most precious resource of all.

“Regarding that, I think our Marquis Champion will think of a way.”

Smiling mysteriously, Fei Yue motioned toward Jiang Chen who was standing not far from her seat.

“The Heavenly Palace will support the Flying Dragon Dynasty,” Jiang Chen spoke softly as he looked at the officers’ desperate faces.

“Great!”

Everyone was reassured and full of hope after hearing Jiang Chen’s remark.

In the following days, Jiang Chen met with Ying Wushuang and Yin Shuang separately.

After that, he took off with Tang Fan.

Fei Yue didn’t go to say good-bye when Jiang Chen left. She stood in the air, staring at Jiang Chen’s back as he walked away, her eyes tearing up.

There were desolation and disappointment in her gaze, but also assertion and aspiration. And it all turned into a soft sigh at the very end.

…..

Meanwhile, at the Middle River, which wasn’t strictly located in the center of the Endless Continent but closer to the western field, things were happening.

Middle River wasn’t named because it was a central location. Instead, it was because the Middle River was the place in the Endless Continent that had the greatest prosperity, the strongest spirit of martial arts, and the most martial masters.

The formation of the Endless Continent had destroyed the layering system of the Planes World.

The original seventh realm, also known as the three academies in the Realm of Heaven Martial Arts, had existed in name only in the last three years.

Now that all the power groups existed on the same plane, the only thing that could be done was to expand the ground on this plane.

Besides, because of the change of the terrain, many fields occupied by different powers would accidentally become favorable places with unique advantages.

Some forces that were initially at the bottom of the pile had developed rapidly due to the change.

The Heavenly Palace established by Jiang Chen was one of these places that had enjoyed a rare opportunity.

The Heavenly Defense Field of the Heavenly Palace happened to be located in the middle of the original Heaven Martial Arts and Divine Martial Arts and was filled with spiritual energy.

Plus, the area of the Heavenly Defense Field was many times larger now because several small Worlds of Meson had been integrated into it. This was like having the wind at its back.

People in the Heavenly Palace, however, weren’t so thrilled. Along with the Worlds of Meson, the people that had lived there had also been absorbed. Grouped into three different forces, they resided in the same region as the Heavenly Palace.

Coexisting peacefully wasn’t that difficult since the area of the Heavenly Defense Field was much larger now.

Still, the Heavenly Palace wouldn’t have been able to drive them out even if they’d wanted to, considering the lack of legitimate reasons and how forceful the three groups were.

With a variety of defense measures, the Heavenly Palace wasn’t worried about being attacked.

Even so, it wasn’t easy to absorb the groups.

The Heavenly Palace had initially planned to wait for Jiang Chen to come back to make a decision.

Yet three years had flown by, and they had suffered a considerable loss by compromising and trying to coexist peacefully.

In this world, after all, reason needed dominant force to back it up.

…..

In the Heavenly Palace, Wu Ming, the deputy lord of palace, sat in the Cloud Reaching Hall with a sullen face, suppressing the anger in his eyes.

“We will leave now if there is no other issue.”

“The Heavenly Palace doesn’t need to worry. We will discipline our subordinates.”

“Only if they listen to us! Ha, ha, ha!”

Three people stood in the middle of the hall, representing the three groups, looking smug.

They were present in the hall through projections instead of their material selves. Only a fool would actually go into the Heavenly Palace.

“This is outrageous!” Right after the three representatives had left, Empress Ling Long continued angrily, “They paid formal visits to befriend us when they first came here. Now they have become so rude and disrespectful and they pay no heed to us at all.”

“If it goes on like this, they will gradually encroach on the resources of our Heavenly Defense Field.”

“Jiang Chen would definitely find a way if he was here.”

Hearing these comments, Wu Ming shook his head with frustration and said, “For the time being, let’s not act recklessly.”

Everyone in the hall sighed wearily.

They had heard this type of compromise so many times. It was unknown how long this could last.
