Chapter 453: Under the Mine

Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio  Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

Jiang Chen wished he could fight Lin Jingyu with his sword, but he knew he wasn’t strong enough to do that. He was even more sure of it after the fight against Green Ghost.

Among the top fifty, the gap between two adjacent places was hug, not to mention the ten-place gap between him and Lin Jingyu.

The pit in the mine was well connected and especially deep. Jiang Chen had been leaving marks behind him along the way since he had entered. That was how he was able to get back to the ground from the bottom of it.

Running at a high speed with Gao Huoling, he didn’t forget to erase the marks.

“Jiang Chen, the mine is closed,” Gao Huoling said anxiously.

“I knew I wouldn’t be able to escape. I brought you in here because I didn’t want him to threaten me with you. Please understand that,” said Jiang Chen.

“We’re a family. Besides, I’m the one who’s a burden.”

Of course, Gao Huoling wouldn’t blame him. This girl was hot-tempered, but she was sensible and clear about what she loved and hated.

Her prejudice against Jiang Chen came from her love for her father, since after so many years of devotion to the Gaos, he would have to give the position of lord to someone else.

So of course she was angry. It would be weirder if she wasn’t.

“What’s your plan?” asked Gao Huoling.

“I’m going to escape from underground, to burn a way out.”

It would be easy for him to be exposed in the air. The underground world was different. Holy awareness was affected by soils and rocks.

Gao Huoling thought it was plausible, but something else occurred to her. She said, “It won’t work. If I remember correctly, Li Jingyu has a treasure that can trace any energy in a certain range.”

“Yeah?”

Jiang Chen stopped, looking serious. This was the sort of result that came about from a lack of intel. However smart a person was, if he knew nothing about his enemy, he wouldn’t be able to come out with a smart plan.

“That’s why he was so relaxed.”

Jiang Chen looked back. It was dark in the curved pit, the air putrid.

“It’s like shooting fish in a barrel for him,” said Jiang Chen helplessly.

“Let’s just fight against him!” Gao Huoling’s eyes were burning. Her morale was high.

Jiang Chen smiled bitterly, finding his cousin lovely.

“We’re not a match for him. And we have nowhere to run.”

He had almost reached the limit of speed his holy wings could reach. After all, it was a secret method used only by Mental Wander States.

He had once been hotly pursued by Green Ghost. He didn’t think this time he could get rid of Lin Jingyu.

“I’ve got a plan. It’ll be very dangerous, but we’re risking our necks as it is,” said Jiang Chen.

“I trust you.” Gao Huoling didn’t ask more questions or query about his plan.

Lin Jingyu landed on the peak of the mine and saw Green Ghost’s corpse. He gazed at it for a moment, frowning.

He squatted down beside the dead body and reached his hand out. He said confusedly, “He was killed by a strong dragon force. Could Jiang Chen really be a member of the Evil Cloud Palace?”

By then, his men had come back from all different directions.

“Apprentice brother, the job is done.”

“Okay.” Lin Jingyu stood up. Looking over sharply, he said, “Who killed them?”

“It was Jiang Chen. He tried to occupy the mine alone. As a result, the others weren’t happy with him, but no one expected him to be so cruel as to kill all of those with a different opinion,” his men said, knowing what he had been insinuating.

“Apprentice brother.”

But one of them was pale and sweating heavily. His voice was shaking when he said, “One man got away from me.”

The others turned pale immediately, cursing him furiously.

Lin Jingyu made a horrifying face. His look was so vicious that the man who had spoken couldn’t help but feel frightened.

“So why did you come back?” asked Lin Jingyu.

The man was struck dumb. He knew what Lin Jingyu had meant. Gnashing his teeth, he flew into the air.

“Apprentice brother, shall we send more people over?” Mo Jianfei said uneasily.

All he wanted was to kill Jiang Chen. He had never expected things to go this far. Once what they did was exposed, he would be doomed eternally.

“Not necessary. Even if there’s a man alive, who would believe him?”

That wasn’t Lin Jingyu’s first concern. Looking towards the pit, he said, “Go down there with my bird. Find out where he is. Surround him but don’t kill him and wait for me there.”

As he spoke, a golden bird flew out of his sleeve, fluttering its wings rapidly. It could even turn its eyes. It was not only vivid, but looked like it had a soul.

He’s afraid there are traps in there, Mo Jianfei thought to himself. He glanced at Lin Jingyu’s strapping figure. He looked majestic and righteous, but was actually as vicious as a poisonous scorpion.

Not daring to oppose him, he was going to fly into the pit with the others.

“Mo Jianfei, you’ll stay here,” Ling Jingyu said calmly.

Mo Jianfei felt cold. He kept sweating in fear.

The others gave him a confused glance, not thinking too much about it.

When it was only Lin Jingyu and Mo Jianfei, the former said, “I saw something weird in you. What do you know?”

He was suggesting something.

Mo Jianfei knew if he didn’t give Lin Jingyu a satisfying answer, he would definitely die.

“Apprentice brother, so many people died. I’m worried.” He was smart. He brought this up first, half-genuine and half-fake.

“Jiang Chen killed them. What are you afraid of?” Lin Jingyu didn’t believe him at all. He kept pacing behind Mo Jianfei with an unreadable look.

“Yeah, of course. The thing is, with Jiang Chen’s position in the Hero Palace, he’s influential. I’ve experienced it myself.” Mo Jianfei’s heart was pounding quickly. He had never run into such a dangerous circumstance.

“You think he can walk out of the small world alive?” said Lin Jingyu again, putting his hand on Mo Jianfei’s shoulder.

Boooom!

Suddenly an extremely loud rumble came from the mine. All the pits were smoking. Lin Jingyu shifted his attention from Mo Jianfei. The latter felt a huge weight lifted off of him.

Lin Jingyu’s men ran out of the pit soon, and in bad shape.

“Apprentice brother, that b*stard bombed the pit!” one of them cursed. His mouth was full of ash!

“He bombed it?” Lin Jingyu said confusedly.

“Yeah. All of the pits collapsed. There’s no way out from inside,” another man said.

“So… hasn’t he trapped himself there, too?” Mo Jianfei said, puzzled.

“Maybe they want to flee underground. Gao Huoling has phoenix blood. She could burn a way out,” someone guessed.

“If that’s the case, he’s stupid. I’ll let him die in the most ashamed way.”

Lin Jingyu released the golden bird, letting it fly around the mine.

“We’ll dig a pit to mine crystals of fire dragon before the small world is closed. Let’s see how he goes from there.”

Lin Jingyu intended to trap the two there until they died.

Maybe they wouldn’t die of hunger or thirst in only ten days, but by the time the small world was closed, they would have to leave.

That was Lin Jingyu’s plan.

In the deepest part of the pit, Jiang Chen and Gao Huoling went into the practicing tactical formation that he had deployed.

“We’ll make more progress by taking advantage of our phoenix blood. Then we’ll go out and fight against him. We’ll let fate decide our lives!”

This was Jiang Chen’s plan, simple and direct.
