Chapter 663: Heavenly Mountain Platform

Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio  Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

The Heavenly Mountain Platform was actually a cliff with an open view.

Shrouded in clouds, it looked like heaven after being decorated with

meticulous care.

It was only big enough to hold about 100 people. Those who had been invited

here were all famous people in this small desolate land.

Many people were surprised to see Yi Chen and Wen Xin seated there with

Jiang Chen and Lil Fan.

Jiang Chen saw many Venerables there.

Their general level was even lower than that of the young Venerables from the

Three Lower Realms.

However, those young Venerables were the best of the Three Lower Realms,

while these people were just average in the Three Middle Realms. They

shouldn’t be compared at all.

After all of the guests had arrived, the leader of the Ancient Sword Sect

appeared, surrounded by her disciples.

“Happy 80th birthday to Mistress He!”

Saying with one voice, everyone on the Heavenly Mountain Platform got to

their feet simultaneously, as if they had rehearsed this.

“Happy 80th birthday to Mistress He!”

Then the guests seated in other places also said with one voice, resonant

enough to shake the clouds.

The leader of the Ancient Sword Sect, an old woman but still going strong,

was beaming.

Jiang Chen was very surprised, but soon he had to admit it was quite normal.

In fact, this was what a small part of practicers would achieve in the end.

After all those efforts, they finally got there, where they could enjoy the wealth

and the respect that they had gained through strength, but they also got old.

Jiang Chen estimated this old woman could at most launch three all-out

attacks.

That was why everyone was talking about talents and valuing young

geniuses.

Young geniuses still had a long life ahead. If everything went smooth, they

would achieve something great for sure.

Jiang Chen came up with such thoughts because of his father Jiang Qingyu.

The Mistress expressed her gratitude to everyone. Then the Venerables

started an interesting conversation, while the Reaching Heaven States on the

spot were listening to them.

“Why don’t we let the young people have a competition to liven up the

atmosphere?” someone proposed.

The Heavenly Mountain Platform was the perfect location to hold and watch a

competition, so the proposal was agreed by most of the people immediately.

“Don’t go too far. Peace is what matters most,” the Mistress said.

“Of course.”

No one had a second opinion. Everyone was waiting to see who would be the

first volunteer.

“Since the Clear Spirit Sect is also sitting on the Heavenly Mountain Platform,

I guess their representatives must be great. Apprentice Sister Yi Chen, let’s

exchange some blows.”

Shi Ling came forward confidently.

It would be fine if it was just Shi Ling. However, Yi Chen found all of the other

women were looking at her in an unkind manner.

Then, laying her eyes on Apprentice Brother Song, who was also standing

there, she tumbled to the reason.

I can’t lose!

Yi Chen told herself. She rose to her feet.

“Yi Chen, let me handle her,” Wen Xin said, obviously worried.

Shi Ling was in Cloud Four, while Yi Chen was in Cloud Three.

“No.” Yi Chen flew into the air.

Jiang Chen found the people here weren’t using any list to rank the practicers.

What mattered to them was state. This was not commonly seen in the Three

Middle Realms.

Nevertheless, to give it a second thought, those lists were created because

too many people were in the same state.

In this small place, for example, on the Heavenly Mountain Platform, Jiang

Chen could only see thirty-odd Reaching Heaven States.

Everyone knew whose disciples were strong and whose disciples were skilled

at sword method. For this reason, a list wouldn’t be necessary.

Shi Ling and Yi Chen were both known as average Reaching Heaven States.

Standing in the air face to face, Shi Ling and Yi Chen were both holding a

sword.

Jiang Chen was never a genius who could be evaluated by state, but he had

to admit Yi Chen was at a disadvantage.

Especially after finding her sword method was also the Sword Method of

Breeze, he already guessed the result.

He had seen Wen Xin exert this sword method. Judging from Yi Chen’s

character, it didn’t suit her.

Although she could practice it, it was quite impossible for her to master it

perfectly.

The fight soon started. The two women didn’t say any unnecessary things.

They attacked directly, a sword movement versus a sword movement.

She will lose.

Seeing Shi Ling attack, Jiang Chen confirmed his assumption.

“Flying Rainbow Sword: Whoosh across the Sky!”

Shi Ling consolidated her advantageous position after throwing her sword

over. Yi Chen kept retreating. The situation was more and more unfavorable

for her.

To Jiang Chen’s surprise, Yi Chen wasn’t frustrated or desperate.

She seemed to have anticipated this.

Jiang Chen felt respectful of her, since she had accepted the challenge

without any hesitation.

“She is too bossy!” Wen Xin said out of anger.

After some blow exchanges, it was very clear that Shi Ling could win the

victory, but she didn’t end the fight.

She kept making a fool of Yi Chen in the same way a cat would play with a

rat.

She didn’t intend to hurt Yi Chen, but kept patting every part of the latter’s

body.

Yi Chen leaned to one side to dodge, but even the side of her stomach got a

pat.

“Please stop. The result is already obvious,” getting to her feet, Wen Xin said

to those from the Primordial Wood Sect.

“As long as Yi Chen admits her defeat,” someone from the Primordial Wood

Sect said casually.

It was true, but Wen Xin knew Yi Chen wouldn’t just do what they wanted her

to do.

Pah!

A dangerous scene happened in the air. Shi Ling’s sword got Yi Chen’s right

cheek.

Fortunately, it wasn’t the tip of the blade. Otherwise Yi Chen’s face would

have been ruined.

“Look at you. You think you’re good enough to get Apprentice Brother Song?”

Shi Ling scorned.

“Damn it!”

Yi Chen couldn’t swallow it. She wanted to go on attacking.

“Enough. Young people, calm down,” the Mistress suddenly said. Then the

two women in the air felt they had met some obstruction.

Shi Ling landed on the Heavenly Mountain Platform complacently.

Pretty frustrated, Yi Chen didn’t even dare look at Apprentice Brother Song.

“It’s all right. Your state is lower. It’s nothing to feel ashamed of,” Apprentice

Brother Song comforted her.

Encouraged by Apprentice Brother Song, Yi Chen cheered up immediately.

“Your sword method doesn’t suit you. You should stop practicing it,” Jiang

Chen said.

Out of question, what he got was nothing else but Yi Chen’s contemptuous

look.

“Clear Spirit Sect has made such a great effort to train you two. You finally

became Reaching Heaven States, but you are still so lame. You even

collapsed at the first blow.”

Shi Ling, the winner, said.

The people on the Heavenly Mountain Platform burst out laughing.

Wen Xin was so angry that she sprang to her feet. She said, “Primordial Wood

Sect, show me how great you are.”

“You?” Sizing her up, Shi Ling didn’t take her seriously.

“Sword Divinity, do you think Wen Xin is a match for her?” Yi Chen asked

Jiang Chen unhappily.

Jiang Chen didn’t answer, since the answer was obvious.

He decided to do something. He stood up and came up to Wen Xin. Lowering

his voice, he whispered into her ear.

He went back to his seat, without giving Wen Xin any chance to question him.

Wen Xin looked confused. None of the others knew what Jiang Chen had

said.

Soon, Wen Xin flew into the air first.

“Shi Ling, would you like to take a rest first?” someone from the Primordial

Wood Sect said in a caring tone.

“No. I wasn’t serious at all in the fight with somebody. Hopefully her sibling

disciple is a little bit stronger than her,” Shi Ling said.

She said it so loudly that Yi Chen could hear her perfectly. Yi Chen’s face

sometimes turned black and sometimes turned pale due to anger.

“It’s your fault.”

She suddenly looked at Jiang Chen, putting the blame on him.

She had intended to stand in the limelight by getting seated in the Heavenly

Mountain Platform, but in the end, she made such a fool of herself.

“Anything to do with me?”

“Didn’t you say that sword was yours?” Yi Chen’s answer was totally

unreasonable.

Jiang Chen shook his head. He was a good-tempered person. If it were

others, she would have got a slap.

“You’re too restless, and not resolute enough. If you can’t improve these two

weaknesses of yours, the Reaching Heaven State will be the farthest you can

go,” Jiang Chen said.

“You sound you know a lot. Did you just tell Wen Xin these great truths, too?”

“Sort of.”

“Wen Xin will be doomed if she listens to your advice,” Yi Chen said angrily.

“Not necessarily,” Jiang Chen said, smiling.
