Chapter 497 The Cultivation Master’s Blackened Disciple (74)

In the center of the alchemy room stood an enormous furnace.

And beneath the furnace was a circular array, which would be used to reshape Ning Yishu’s spiritual root.

And reshaping spiritual roots required fuel.

Bai Weiwei’s thousand-year lifespan was precisely that fuel.

She sat quietly with her legs crossed in front of the furnace. The green flames burned above the array.

She didn’t feel pain because the flames didn’t burn anything except life.

The thousand years of life was worth nothing to Bai Weiwei because at most, she could only live for sixteen months. She was just making good use of waste material.

She watched the furnace, letting Ning Yishu shout and stomp around inside, without the slightest indication of being moved.

She knew that her body in this world was ruined beyond repair by her own hands. She sacrificed the entire lifespan of a Nascent Soul stage cultivator to reshape Ning Yishu’s spiritual roots.

She wouldn’t last longer than a few hours.

So the remaining five points of favorability, as well as the bullshit mission of kicking him off the cliff, getting her skin peeled, her flesh sliced, life cut short, and soul sacrificed would be finished in one go.

Bai Weiwei: “I’m so busy, ah.”

Sixteen months of work squeezed into three; she was completely exhausted.

System: “Hehe.”

Bai Weiwei: This damn system, what was that ‘hehe’ supposed to mean? Wouldn’t normal systems busy themselves comforting the host?

System: “Hurry, ah, hurry up and finish. Give the male lead a break.”

This world’s male lead was already pathetic enough to make him doubt life.

Bai Weiwei: “If I didn’t know any better, I’d have thought you were the male lead’s system.”

The system was suspiciously silent. “If only that were true…”

Bai Weiwei: “…”

Just how much did the system dislike her?

Bai Weiwei counted on her fingers how much life was burned away. When it was almost over, she rearranged her facial expression and tried to adjust her voice.

Calm, with suppressed sorrow.

Righteous, but also afraid.

Cold, but with deep affection and a reluctance to part.

“A’Ning.”

Her voice quietly rang out.

Inside, Ning Yishu’s hands were bloody and bruised from beating the walls of the furnace.

When he heard Bai Weiwei’s voice, he froze. His eyes were red.

“Shifu, let me out, I’m begging you.”

His voice was choked and desperate. He was at his wit’s end.

Her lifespan had become fuel to remold his spiritual root. Every time one of his meridians was repaired, every time spiritual energy flowed in.

He was completely terrified.

This was her lifespan. Him getting stronger meant that she was getting weaker.

From outside the pill furnace, Bai Weiwei’s lips curled into a smile.

“You already know that the things in the dreamworld are a congregation of memories of my past.”

Ning Yishu’s fingers left behind bloody tracks on the walls of the furnace. His voice trembled. “I know, I know it all. Don’t say it, don’t say any more.”

With each passing breath, a few more years of her life vanished.

Bai Weiwei continued as though she hadn’t heard him. “I had a miserable life as a child. My entire family was killed, I joined Grand Heavens Mountain, I was stupid and useless, and I was constantly bullied.”

Ning Yishu stared at his hands covered in blood. He was powerless and could only remain trapped in the furnace.

Her voice was steady and unhurried.

“It’s been almost a hundred years. I nearly forgot all about the past.”

“But I remember. When I nearly died in the woodshed, a mysterious1 senior came and saved me.”

“He looked completely ordinary, but he could get past everyone and save me, isn’t it quite strange?”

Ning Yishu frowned deeply when he heard this. Wasn’t this about their experience in the dreamworld?

But Bai Weiwei was saying that this was her actual experience.
