Chapter 215: Spider Queen Gilian?

Translator: Atlas Studios  Editor: Atlas Studios

Lin Jie struggled hard against the doors and tried to squeeze in. However, the doors did not move at all, and Lin Jie’s big head remained stuck firmly between them.

Lin Jie could feel the deathly auras emitted out from the Exodus Bone Dragon, and his buttocks trembled! Following which, the Exodus Bone Dragon shot a rib right at Lin Jie’s backside!

At this moment, Gilian’s Character Card turned black, and the original portrait of the little loli Gilian was transformed into a Paladin who held a great silver sword! She looked the same as Gilian, but her eyes were full of despise and bloodlust!

A faint black mist-enshrouded Lin Jie’s body and his whole body finally passed through the door! He fell with a loud thud upon the ground. When he turned, he could see the Exodus Bone Dragon’s gigantic body from within the doors’ creak. Lin Jie shuddered and kept the key of the doors—he had managed to snatch it up in the nick of time. When he threw the key into his backpack, it transformed back into a map and lied down quietly at the bottom of his backpack.

Boom—

A terrifying air current passed through the door creaks and hurled Lin Jie up into the air—it was from the Exodus Bone Dragon which was blocked outside the doors!

Lin Jie drew in a sharp breath when he was lifted up into the air. Just imagine, this air current was formed from the Exodus Bone Dragon’s attacks on the doors. Even with the doors blocking off most of the attacks’ impact, it could still hurl him up into the air! If Lin Jie was outside the doors and had faced this wave directly… His stomach muscles tightened when he thought of this.

Lin Jie’s health bar decreased by about 80% when he was hit by the airwave. He quickly used the Life Runes and drank down a Middle-Grade Natural Recovery Potion, and replenished at least half and more of his health bar.

Lin Jie had not expected to be blown up into the air—however, there were still some gains from this episode. While he was hurled across the space in the air, he managed to get a quick view of the structure within the Demonic Dragon’s Lair! The Demonic Dragon’s Lair was shaped like a piece of a snowflake, with six different outer rims. There were about 300 or more nodes per rim, and one dragon egg would be placed on each node.

Vicious Black Dragon Moratti was one of the rarest Legendary Bosses which did not have any battling abilities. Its strongest ability lied in its ability to reproduce dragon eggs! Saying that it was, of course, laughable if one thought that this Boss would leave itself all defenseless—all these dragon eggs were its best defenses!

Lin Jie looked at his own position, activated the Feather Drop spell, and his descent speed became more gradual. He twisted and turned his body rhythmically around in the air. Aligning his body with the flow of air currents, he aimed for his descent in the middle of the snowflake-like lair!

A gigantic black Demonic Dragon, whose size was unable to be gauged by the human eye, was lying face-down in the middle of the lair. Its eyes were shut, and it slept on peacefully. A lively glow emitted by the Powers of Life surrounded the fleshy crown it wore on its head and made its Undead corpse look extremely peculiar.

Note: Vicious Black Dragon Moratti is the strongest Undead Demonic Dragon within the Dark Shrine. Its magnificent Death Control abilities and Life Prayer abilities allowed it to be elevated to a most significant position within the Dark Shrine. If you can successfully acquire Moratti’s Crown, you will be given high respect within both the Guild of Light and Tribe of Darkness!

The Powers of Life and Powers of Death were transformed into two agile Spirit Dragons, and they were inhaled in and exhaled out of Moratti’s body along with every breath like playful kids.

Lin Jie’s heart skipped a beat—these two Spirit Dragons were the demonic dragon’s sensors! He held his breath as he attempted to land near the dragon. However, when he was about 10 plus yards away, he came into contact with the enchantment seal and his body was bounded out, landing gradually on the first outer rim. There were dragon eggs the height of five grown men just 10 steps away from his spot. Although the creatures hatched from the eggs would not be as ferocious as the Exodus Bone Dragon, they would definitely be more powerful than the Guardian Dragonites!

Lin Jie took out the map cautiously. After all, Zheng Ziliang and Wine God Youngster had paid for this opportunity for him to get into the Demonic Dragon’s Lair with their lives—he must be careful with every step he took!

Ring—

Some faint colors appeared gradually on the map! Lin Jie’s eyes widened in surprise, but he immediately understood then: this was the ghosts’ methods of passing him the information. If they had revealed the information all at once, the airwaves caused by their magic would alarm and hatch the dragon eggs! As such, they could only reveal it bit by bit, as if they were pickpockets.

If Lin Jie closed the map now, there wouldn’t be any changes on it, and it would then become a useless piece of paper!

Lin Jie lowered his body to escape contacting the enchantment seals and waited for the changes to take place completely.

After half an hour, a nail-sized faint yellowish dot appeared on the upper half of the map. Lin Jie pondered about it. ‘It seems like this dot is pointing to the Demonic Dragon Crown’s hiding place! According to the map, I have to cross about 1/8 of the lair…’

However, a small dot started appearing at the right side of the map again… Lin Jie was stunned. After waiting for another half an hour more, he realized the new dot looked the same as the first dot. This most probably meant that this might also be another possible hiding place for the Demonic Dragon Crown!

Just when he was about to keep the map to mull over which place should be the correct hiding place, Lin Jie discovered to his surprise that there were new transformations to the map again—another dot appeared on the left side of the map.

Lin Jie, “…”

For the next six hours, Lin Jie did nothing except to lie down flat on the ground and wait for the map. He witnessed how all the big dots occupied the whole map until it looked like a dotted night sky, and was so irritated by it until he felt like throwing the whole map away.

“Human, you seem frustrated…” Gilian put her face near to Lin Jie’s face and spoke softly.

Lin Jie acknowledged the question out of habit, then got stunned. He whipped out Broken Blade and cried, “How did you get out?”

Gilian blinked and laughed, “Oh, I just broke off our contract.”

Lin Jie was stumped. He looked at the Gold Character Card and saw indeed that it was all blank now. Gilian’s image was nowhere to be seen.

“You are not a Night Elf. If I guessed correctly, you should be a Dark Elf?”

“Yes, but you are not totally correct either.” Gilian strutted out her chest, and she looked like a magnificent queen instead of the usual sickly maiden. However, Lin Jie was not alarmed—her Stats did not change.

“I was once a human, and I was a Dark Elf too. In fact, I used to have another body due to a Modified experiment. However, all these are not important. Human, I request your help now.”

Lin Jie snorted. “Help you, a Dark Elf? Don’t you know of the contempt the Guild of Light had for the Dark Shrine? Even research on Shadow Spells had to be carried out secretly, and by decree, both Dark Priests and Spellcasters would be submitted to all kinds of heavy taxes. If I help you, it will signal to the Holy Church that I am rebelling against them—what good will I get out of this?”

Gilian smiled and said, “Now, what if I told you that the Guild of Light and the Dark Shrine are not rivals, but instead… they are partners in cooperation?”

Ding~

—’Spider Queen Gilian will be telling you a Secret legend. Do you want to accept? (Note: Listening to accounts which are not favorable to the Guild of Light might change your attitude towards the Guild of Light. The Holy Church members who are adept at deciphering players’ intentions might change their attitudes towards you.)’

Lin Jie’s heart beat fast like an uncontrollable drum!

‘It’s a Secret legend!’

Secret legends were like the unofficial history records. They might have really existed, but were deliberately covered up or eliminated by the official historical records. The history records of the Guild of Light had always told everyone a tale which was like a credo of truth: ‘the Guild of Light is the righteous, and all who belonged to the evil and the dark must be expelled!’

Most of the players who were deeply influenced by the heroic notions of doing what was ‘righteous’ and upholding morality would hence naturally side more with the Guild of Light! This was also why the players who chose the Dark jobs were always persecuted by masses in the game.

In Lin Jie’s previous life, he had been a proud Warrior of the Guild of Light. He had taken sides with the Guild of Light and killed many players from the Tribe of Darkness, participated in the War of Light and massacred large numbers of the Undead, and also helped to conquer maps for the Guild of Light. As such, he had gained handsome rewards for all his actions!

“Nothing will thrive for long in Darkness! People can only become safe and wealthy when they are enlightened by the Holy Light—this is the strength of the righteous!” This was the doctrine of the Holy Light.

Yet now, Gilian was telling Lin Jie—the Dark enemies which he had been fighting against was actually on cooperation terms with the Guild of Light. This was something that Lin Jie, who was a reborn person and who had seven years’ experience of playing in the game, was unable to accept!

‘But… Isn’t this what I want—a different path from my previous life? Most importantly, the more I know about the game, the more I will get out of it!’

Lin Jie reassured himself again, and finally replied Gilian, “Speak then, Gilian.”

“This story may be quite long, so do focus and don’t wander off halfway,” said Gilian in a calm manner. “After you listen to these hidden histories, I will require your help in a task—I want to get Moratti’s crown!”

Lin Jie blinked and saw that Gilian’s Stats had changed.

Spider Queen Gilian (???)

Level: ???

Health Points: 70/??? (Weak)

Mana: 100/??? (Weak)

Magic Attack: ???

Defense: ???

Spider Queen—what did this mean? There were no changes to Gilian’s appearance, so why did she suddenly have such a name?

Meanwhile, her Stats seemed to revert back to the time when he first got the Character Card—except that the upper limit of all her Stats was changed to question marks. This made Lin Jie quite worried.

“You want to get the crown? Sure, no problem, I will get it for you,” Lin Jie took a look at the Shield Cut in his Skills Column and felt somewhat more secure. With this skill, he would be able to overpower Gilian no matter what!

‘So what if she gets the crown? I can still snatch it back after I kill her!’
