Chapter 356: Demon Robe’s Final Attack

Translator: Atlas Studios  Editor: Atlas Studios

At the Mesosaprobic Shrine.

The place was now a bloody massacre field! The fight between Torre’s team and the Hunters’ team ended with the sacrifice of 15 Warriors on his side. The Hunters’ team was wiped out completely, and by right, this should be the end of the fight. However, another group of players arrived at the City of Sea King and started another battle—and all of them donned Gold equipment from head to toe!

Such a mighty team, of course, could not be formed by any ordinary people. This group of players was from the Mage Heavens guild—but neither Baili Xuanyuan nor Baizhan Yusheng was sighted amongst them. Their leader was… Eighteen Massacres!

The appearance of this team gave Torre a rough shock. Not long after, all of the 700+ players led by Torre were killed by them. Eighteen Massacres was clearly elated at the chance of being able to kill Lin Jie’s friends, and he instructed his subordinates to guard their corpses. As long as anyone revived, they would be tortured and killed by Eighteen Massacres and his team again and again. No one was able to stop them!

Eighteen Massacres’ rampant deeds were being told to Torre’s other friends, who rushed to gather more help for them. This piece of news pissed off the entire Sky Provisions Shop’s supporting community, and when it was made known to Brotherhood, numerous Brotherhood members couldn’t stomach such injustice. They volunteered to join in the battle, swearing loudly at the top of their voices! When aid finally arrived, Torre revived and shouted for all of his teammates to revive and fight again. The two teams thus began yet another round of deadly battle!

Meanwhile, Bu Yi, Baili, and Qiu Yuan led 500 players to rescue the other Savage Blade team members. When they reached the place where the Savage Blade team members’ corpses were being guarded, they were shocked to discover that Demon Robe had actually ordered 600+ members of his team to guard their corpses! He had indeed taken no chance at underestimating their strengths.

This arrangement was what rendered the other Savage Blade team members unable to escape. After all, how could anyone possibly survive from the attacks of 600 players?

At the same time, Baili Changcheng received news that Baili Xuanyuan’s manpower had arrived. Left with no other choice, he could only make a painful decision—he summoned all of his guild members to come over and help to resolve the Savage Blade team’s crises, even though he knew full well that this action would definitely cripple his growing guild!

Subsequently, news about a big battle at the City of Sea King was spread out. A big group of players rushed there—they were either thinking of trying to make some money out of the battle, pick up spawned equipment, or just simply to see what was happening. Amongst them were many players who had strong backstage supporters. However, those players ended up being killed—some out of accident, and some on purpose. They naturally wanted to get their revenge, and thus called more companions to come and help them out. Eventually, all players began killing one another left and right, up and down! The whole place was transformed into a gigantic, messy battlefield, and the horrors seen during this particular battle were unfathomable, to say the least!

No matter whether their initial motives were to get more equipment, gain rewards for missions, or just to PK with one another, no one bothered to care anymore! One sentence could sum up the whole situation: ‘JUST KILL!’

This brutal atmosphere spread throughout the whole City of Sea King. The normally peaceful city suddenly became extremely noisy and full of bustle. Everywhere, one could see the stunning visual effects of various skills and hear cries of killing people.

At the same time, Lin Jie went straight ahead into the depths of the Mesosaprobic Shrine. It was as if he had no idea Demon Robe was luring him in—or rather, he was ignoring Demon Robe’s lousy acting and following him just because he wanted to scoff at what Demon Robe had in plan for him.

In any case, considering his strength, Lin Jie did have the confidence to be this arrogant—because, on the way into the depths of the Mesosaprobic Shrine, Lin Jie had managed to kill all of the players Demon Robe had arranged to ambush him!

There were 10 teams which Lin Jie encountered in total: the Mages team, the Warriors team, the Hunters team, the Shield Specialists team… and all of their souls were now being kept away by Lin Jie as his mission items.

Soul Count: 545.

In other words, Lin Jie had killed 545 players all by himself, and all of them were Demon Robe’s subordinates!

‘Hehe, Demon Robe, you are really my lucky star! Alright, I won’t let you suffer a too painful death later. Don’t bother to thank me, I am just being a Lei Feng 1 , after all!’

Naturally, killing all these players had caused a mild side effect for Lin Jie. Other than gathering the souls required for his mission, Lin Jie’s Evil Score was now increasing rapidly.

In the beginning, it was Demon Robe’s Bandits team who had attacked Lin Jie maliciously. Thus Lin Jie’s counterattacks against them were considered as rightful defense. Killing the Bandits team did not add on to his Evil Score. However, as Lin Jie continued following Demon Robe, all of the players he met along the way did not put up much of a resistance—in fact, they seemed like they were just purposely waiting for Lin Jie to kill them. That certainly added on to Lin Jie’s Evil Score—Lin Jie’s name was now blood red, and it seemed like it would turn black at any time!

However, Lin Jie couldn’t be bothered about this fact anymore. After all, he had been cursed by Yatasha before and had an Evil Score of 1,000 points. During that time, he had continued to roam the lands and gotten over it eventually. Thus, how would the Evil Score he had now bother him much?

Another team lie awaited for him in front.

It was a Paladins team!

The team was yet again made up of 50 players, and all of them were Level 30 Paladins. They donned the Holy Light Judge Golden Armor Set and wielded the Choice Swords produced by Saint Malo’s Church as their weapons. Those were Gold weapons, and though they had so-so attributes, they had an increment of 15% Holy Light Mana Effect, and hence would be very powerful weapons for Paladins.

“Lone Wolf has come, prepare the Hammers of Discipline!” The leading Paladin was a lad with thick eyebrows, and he was named Drunk. He made a gripping action with his right hand, and Holy Light condensed from his palm to form a shimmering hammer. This was a Retribution Paladin’s signature skill—the Hammers of Discipline. It could cause 50% damage to its target and stun them for three seconds.

All of the 50 Paladins followed suit and condensed up their Hammers of Discipline.

Lin Jie was there in the blink of an eye. The wings of his Holy Light Winged Armor flapped lightly, and his Movement Speed was increased by 50%. At the same time, he activated the Feather Drop Skill, jumped up into mid-air, and activated the Holy Light Winged Armor gliding skill… He actually planned to evade this whole team of Paladins and just glide past them in the air!

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

All of the Retribution Paladins panicked. They threw their Hammers of Discipline at Lin Jie, and their weapons shot across the air like shooting stars! However, Lin Jie swerved left and right, and dodged all of them!

After all, the Holy Light Winged Armor was no normal gliding equipment. All six of its wings had allowed Lin Jie to change directions as swiftly as he wished. Thus, it was an easy feat for him to dodge the attacks.

“What, he managed to dodge all of them? Is this fellow still a human?” Drunk couldn’t help but draw in a deep breath. Even Bandits, the likes of Demon Robe, wouldn’t be able to dodge this whole series of closely-dotted Hammers of Discipline attacks unless he activated the [Phantom] skill!

“Leader, he’s aiming at Boss. What should we do?”

“Shall we give chase?”

Drunk waved his hands and commented, “No need. Leader Demon Robe has his own plans. Our main motive was to waste as much of Lone Wolf’s skills effects with our thick skins and high health bars anyway. It was a pity we did not succeed.”

“No wonder. I was puzzled why Boss had arranged for teams of different jobs to attack Lone Wolf one by one. After all, Lone Wolf has skyrocketing stats, and if we do not have enough manpower with crowd control abilities, he can finish off dozens of us easily. However, I bet we will still be able to contain him if he faced hundreds of us all in one go! Why didn’t Boss Demon Robe arrange for this then, if he wanted to get rid of Lone Wolf?”

“Boss has his own concerns,” answered Drunk in a thoughtful tone.

“One needs to cast a long line to get a big fish. Besides, the ‘fish’ we face is a ‘shark’. If we are not careful, he might summon his whole ‘sharks’ community! We will all be dead meat then…”

After evading the Paladins team, Lin Jie finally neared his target.

Yet Demon Robe, the Guild Leader of the Dark-Robed Knights and the best Combat Bandit in the whole of The New Age in Lin Jie’s previous life, appeared to be waiting for Lin Jie. He folded his arms across his chest, calmly. This low-key fellow did not seem panicked at all about the fact at being pursued.

“Lone Wolf, I have long wanted to battle with you face-on, and now I finally have the chance.” Demon Robe sounded composed as he said those words. One might even imagine he was talking to an old friend. He smiled and said, “Can I just ask, how much is your Evil Score now?”

Lin Jie looked nonchalant, and his lips, which were covered under his Lone Wolf Helmet, curved up into a smile. No one was able to see through what he was thinking of as he revealed, “400 points.”

Demon Robe looked slightly alarmed at this. “You have indeed held up to your reputation. Lone Wolf, you do have great abilities, and I admire your skills. When Eighteen Massacres told me how abnormally strong you are, I did not believe it. Yet now, you have proven to me that you are indeed that strong. This is something, indeed.”

“Since you now know how strong I am, shall I give you a suggestion?”

“Oh? What suggestion?”

Lin Jie pointed to the ground with Broken Blade and commented sardonically, “Leave Baili Xuanyuan, join Brotherhood, and become one of my workers at the Sky Provisions Shop. How’s that? I can procure the gold coins you have at a 10% higher price than the market rates.”

Incensed by his words, Demon Robe couldn’t help but let out a peal of ridiculing laughter. He sneered. “Lone Wolf, you really think you are invincible? Let me tell you, you were bound to die the moment you stepped into these grounds! An Evil Score of 400 points is enough to let you drop to Level 0 and spawn all your equipment, once you are killed! And there you are, still audacious enough to want to ‘hire’ me as your worker? How about I give you a chance instead—you join my team, work for me, gather equipment for me, and I will spare your life. Or else, I vow to kill you until you delete your account!”

“You are asking for it!” A gleam of light flashed past Lin Jie’s eyes. In the next instant, he activated Hunter’s Forward Charge, Wild Charge, and with the increase of speed brought by the Holy Light Winged Armor, his Movement Speed doubled as he charged forward! One could only see a brief shadow rushing ahead as Broken Blade’s cold gleams flashed by—Lin Jie was planning to finish off Demon Robe with a strike from Broken Blade!

How would Lin Jie not be able to guess Demon Robe’s true intentions?

Initially, Demon Robe had planned to ambush Lin Jie with his Bandits team, but he had failed. Observing Lin Jie’s equipment, Demon Robe then developed a change of plans—to get Lin Jie’s equipment for his own!

Now, what was the main reason that Eighteen Massacres was against Lin Jie for so long? It was all because of that particular weapon!

No one knew what the weapon Lone Wolf used was, but for one thing, they knew it was absolutely powerful. Why? This was because a weapon which Brotherhood’s leader would still use up till now must naturally be a most powerful one!

Demon Robe had thus fixated his whole plan on getting this weapon! To make sure that he could get it, he had even let Lin Jie kill his subordinates so that Lin Jie would accumulate high Evil Scores.

10 or more Evil Points would make a player spawn half of their entire equipment when they died, and in fact, some might even spawn the items they kept in their backpacks. Lone Wolf’s Evil Score was now 400—just imagine what he would spawn when he was killed!

Now, everything was ready. This was the exact moment Demon Robe was waiting for, the moment when he would reap the gains off Lone Wolf!

Demon Robe looked even calmer as Broken Blade neared him.

Phantom!

Broken Blade stabbed into yet another illusion—Demon Robe disappeared again! However, there was a fist-size ball left on the spot he stood before, which looked like a peeled egg. At the same time, bright lights shone all around Lin Jie. Arcane Spells condensed into walls and locked Lin Jie within the space!

This was the same technique that Ophadi Wantless had used before, the [Arcade Cage]. However, the walls which Lin Jie faced now were about 10 times thicker than the walls Ophadi Wantless had conjured up that other time. One could just imagine how many Arcane Mages were gathered outside now!

Lin Jie looked at this stone, and a shiver ran down his spine.

[Dark Waters Kingsnake Egg]: This is the egg of the Aquatic Behemoth Dark Waters Kingsnake. Dark Waters Kingsnakes are rare, and will only produce one egg in its entire lifetime. One can use its egg to lure it out. You can also cook the egg.

‘Aha, so you wanted to use the Dark Waters Kingsnake against me! Hahaha, Demon Robe, you’re dead meat!’ Lin Jie picked up the egg. Immediately, the ground he was standing on split apart. All sorts of bloody, decaying, and disgusting odors spread out in the air, and a gigantic snake, which was even bigger than the Three-Headed Serpent, crawled out. Its body was covered in black scales, and it had horns on its head. The moment it crawled out of the ground, its razor-sharp scales turned the whole earth into crumbles. There seemed to be fire in its eyes as it slithered angrily towards Lin Jie!
