Chapter 217: Breaking the Enchantments!

Translator: Atlas Studios  Editor: Atlas Studios

Lin Jie remained silent for a moment. All the recorded histories of the different eras in The New Age were full of grandeur. Numerous soldiers paid with the price of their lives to build the new kingdoms and allowed their future generations to live in peace and happiness. When all the people thought that they had expelled the Dark and the evil for good, what they did not know was that dirty transactions were still taking place beneath the pretense of peace.

—’You heard Gillian’s accounts and started having doubts. Please make your choice: 1. What she said is not real. The Guild of Light and the Holy Church is the incarnation of Justice! 2. What she said may be real. After all, there are always two sides to every story, and it’s true that the Light and the Dark always coexist in the world!’

Lin Jie looked at both options, made up his mind, and smiled. He chose option 2: ‘What she said may be real. After all, there are always two sides to every story, and it’s true that the Light and the Dark always coexist in the world!’

Ding~

—’Your doubts proved that you have an inquisitive mind and you yearn to discover the truth beneath surfaces. Your Guild of Light Reputation decrease by 300 while your Dark Shrine Reputation increase by 300. You gain a reward: Random Inspect-type Skill Level +1!’

‘Those who are not of the same race will never swear true to you!’—the system announcement exemplified this particular ideology of the Holy Church fully. Lin Jie’s half a month worth of efforts to get the 300 Guild of Light Reputation points were wasted now! However, he did not expect to get another better reward instead—increase by one level in a Skill!

Lin Jie had two types of Inspect-type skills: Inspect, and the Dwarvish Identify Skill! He checked his Skill column in anticipation, and nearly fainted in happiness—his Dwarvish Identify Skill which had just reached middle-grade was increased to superior-grade!

If used against players, there were certain chances of identifying the player’s equipment! Meanwhile, if the Dwarvish Identify Skill was used against monsters, it would be able to identify part of the monster’s weakness areas, coupled with its Stats which normal players would already find hard to inspect for. This meant that this skill would become ultra-useful!

What’s more, the most exciting thing which Lin Jie gained from this reward was that the Dwarvish Identify Skill had an additional skill attached along with its upgrade: Keen Sight!

[Keen Sight]: You can see through any living creatures in Stealth Mode within a 3×3 yards radius, causing the target to be exposed for 1 second. Requires superior-grade Dwarvish Identify Skill.

Lin Jie had always craved for an Anti-Stealth Skill to allow him to see through Stealth modes. The Stealth Move skill was the signature skills of both the Bandits and Beast Druids jobs. He would definitely run into players of these two jobs sooner or later, and he would be played by them easily if he did not possess any Anti-Stealth Skills!

However, it wasn’t easy to get an Anti-Stealth Skill. Lin Jie could get this type of skills from the Auction House, but those skills—even for the ones with inferior effects—would often be auctioned off at the price of nearly up to a few thousand gold coins. Lin Jie would definitely not want to become a sucker and waste all his money on this!

In anticipation, Lin Jie activated the Keen Sight skill. A light blue sheen covered his eyes, making them looked just like the Dark Iron Dwarves’ eyes. The world in front of him blurred, and he saw a dark blue spider’s shadow in front of him—this was Gillian. However, when Lin Jie scanned the surroundings using the last effects of the Keen Sight skill, he saw a blood-red human figure fleeting past!

‘Someone else’s here too!’ Lin Jie got alarmed. The Keen Sight skill could also allow him to use Detection on those in Stealth Mode, but it was too short for him to activate Detection just now!

No matter what, it was still good that he knew someone else was there, so he could be on guard.

Actually, it was great that he could not use Detection just now. Or else, he might accidentally hatch the Dragon eggs during the pursuing process and caused himself more danger.

Lin Jie stood up and asked, “So, history lesson’s over?”

Gillian raised her brows and revealed a meaningful smile as she commented, “Human, I wouldn’t have like you as much if you had commented, ‘So is the story over?’”

“Well, I am no fuddy-duddy,” Lin Jie shrugged, and commented, “Since you want the Demonic Dragon Crown, I supposed you need my help to find it for you? Well, I don’t understand this starry night sky-like map, maybe you can help with this first.”

Gillian tapped onto the map, and all the faint yellowish dots disappeared, leaving only one which pointed to the Vicious Black Dragon Moratti’s head!

“Oh my…”

“Do you think the wandering Ghosts would be able to get the Demonic Dragon Crown’s map so easily? You are belittling Moratti’s powers,” said Gillian in a stern manner.

“Although the Dark Shrine and Holy Church are on cooperation terms, there are still many extremist members within the Dark Shrine. This dragon which focused all its energy on producing offspring is one of them, and it had always supported the idea of the Dark Shrine leaving the Holy Church’s control and rebelling against the Holy Church. As such, I believe it’s high time for it to let go of its rule over the 12th sub-shrine of the Dark Shrine.”

Lin Jie nodded in an understanding manner and smiled. “Okay, I will help you.”

Ding~

——’You have accepted the Spider Queen Gillian’s mission, [Coronation]. Once you get Moratti’s Demonic Dragon Crown and pass it to Gillian, she will reward you handsomely!’

The moment Lin Jie and Gillian acknowledged their mission’s status, both of them curled up their lips.

This was just plainly an act of ‘each with his own axe to grind’ for both of them!

For Lin Jie, Gillian’s story was still just a bunch of data, no matter how enticing it was. However, as she was both Lady Anne and the Spider Queen, she definitely could be made use of—at the very least, she could be used to feed this troublesome dragon.

In any case, the longer she was able to hold out and support him, the greater the chance he would get to obtain the Demonic Dragon Crown!

‘No matter what, you are just an NPC!’—Lin Jie had never changed his idea about this!

“Human, you will need my help if you want to get the Demonic Dragon Crown!”Gillian activated the [Awaken] skill and recovered 40% of her Mana bar in front of Lin Jie. She could use this skill under all kinds of conditions, and it had a cooldown time of 30 minutes. Gillian pointed to the Dragon eggs all around them and said, “There are enchantments within 10 yards meters radius all around the sleeping Moratti. However to break the enchantments, all the Dragon eggs much be hatched, and the dragons must be killed! I will bestow you with the temporary ability to fly, and thus you can avoid being killed by the dragons and also hatch all the eggs.”

Lin Jie blinked and said, “Great! Then please help me! Do reward me with more Legendary equipment after I get the Demonic Dragon Crown!”

“No problem!”

“Great!”

Gillian waved her want, and a black wind whirled around both of Lin Jie’s legs.

[Dark Speech Flight]: You receive the temporary ability to fly.

Lin Jie twisted his body, and he floated up gradually. He tried to use simple actions like run, glide, and change of directions in the air and even did a few somersaults.

“Human, you better hurry, I don’t have endless Mana for you to waste,” reminded Gillian.

Lin Jie finally got used to controlling his body comfortably in the air. He nodded in acknowledgment, and levitated to the highest point of the Demonic Dragon’s Lair! From here, he could see the whole of the Demonic Dragon’s Lair. In the next one hour, Lin Jie memorized and almost etched the whole of the Demonic Dragon’s Lair into his mind! He ran through the different paths and trails once again—he would retreat and start all over again once he sensed any danger!

“Enough,” Lin Jie revealed a smile. He charged down towards the left side of the Demonic Dragon’s Lair!

A gigantic Thresher egg was located there!

Just when Lin Jie was about to land on the ground, the Dragon egg which sensed human presence cracked opened. A python-like tongue wriggled out of the egg, and surged towards Lin Jie who was in mid-air! Great winds were raised up, and Lin Jie made use of the force from the winds to swerve to another side. Avoiding the Thresher, he rushed towards another Dragon egg! The other Dragon egg cracked opened and a gruesome Tyrant Devilsaur came out. It aimed its razor-like sharp teeth at Lin Jie’s throat! Lin Jie made use of the reaction force and changed directions again, floating towards another Dragon egg!

“Ang——”

“Ang——”

Lin Jie’s actions were very dangerous, but at the same time extremely accurate too! The moment he neared the Dragon eggs, the dragons within the eggs would be hatched, and Lin Jie would then make use of the reaction force by the dragons to escape in time. He had employed this tactic just so that he could hatch all the eggs within the Demonic Dragon’s Lair as fast as possible! All of his actions were comparable to an expert Bandit, and would not lose out in terms of agility or positioning techniques! For a Warrior to achieve this—in mid-air some more—even those who claimed to be best of Bandits would feel ashamed of themselves!

With the passing of time, more and more dragons were being hatched! The whole Demonic Dragon’s Lair was filled with dragons—Tyrant Devilsaurs, Triceratops, Threshers and all other kinds of dragons popped their heads out from the Dragon eggs. They looked up into the air at Lin Jie, opened their mouths, and attempted to munch down on him! Lin Jie naturally wouldn’t let them have their wishes—he was getting more and more used to flying about in the air and had hatched almost all of the Dragon eggs in the map! However, all the noises caused by them did not affect the Vicious Black Dragon, which was within the enchantments.

Gillian was having a hard time trying to sustain the Flying magic on Lin Jie—it definitely wasn’t an easy task trying to let a heavily-armored Warrior remained levitating in the air! Gillian’s Mana bar was not very full in the first place, and now it was almost emptied! If this situation continued, she would not be able to hold on any longer and persist until Lin Jie lured out all the dragons. Gillian rolled out her tongue and revealed a dark purplish pill which she had kept hidden near the root of her tongue all this while.

[Mana Storage Pill]: This can recover 20,000 Mana points for you, but it has a similar cooldown time as a mana potion.

All along, it wasn’t that Gillian was unable to recover her Mana bar—she had just been hiding it!

“Come out now!” Lin Jie kicked hard at a Dragon egg. It cracked, and a serpent-like dragon wriggled out of the egg. Lin Jie’s body was flung up into the air once again as all the dragons roared ferociously in unison! Meanwhile, Lin Jie saw that there was only one unhatched Dragon egg left!

Lin Jie whipped out Broken Blade, and charged towards that Dragon egg! About 100 yards away, that Dragon egg cracked opened, and a Tyrant Devilsaur crawled out, opening its blood-red mouth!

At the instant the last Dragon egg was hatched, all the enchantments around Moratti disappeared!

Lin Jie tried to fly away, but he realized to his horror that the Flying spell on him was taken away!

“F*ck!” Lin Jie cursed out loud as he fell into the Tyrant Devilsaur’s mouth!
