Chapter 544: Cooperating With Whom

When Dark Emperor reacted, his teammates and the Boss he yearned to kill had already disappeared from his line of sight! There was only a Warrior wearing black armor with his hands casually crossed and leaning on a withered tree, sizing up Dark Emperor.

“Boss.”

“Boss! Be careful, he is very powerful.”

At the side were the three Shield Specialists, who had been grabbed earlier. Their health was critically low, and they stayed at the side dejected.

Upon seeing that Dark Emperor had also come, they hurriedly warned him since the two camps’ language was different. Thus, they did not have to worry about Lin Jie listening.

Dark Emperor nodded and signaled for them to calm down. He then turned his attention to the fellow that had mysteriously appeared in the Tribe. His actions looked casual and maybe even lazy, but his hands were consciously or unconsciously hovering around his sword sheath as his right leg leaned lightly on the tree behind. No matter which angle he attacked from, Lin Jie would be able to rely on that leg to push him and dodge the attack. Also, Lin Jie’s throat was slightly swollen, so he was obviously brewing some skill, like Outraged Roar.

He was an expert!

From Lin Jie’s standing posture, Dark Emperor could conclude that the person in front of him was an expert, and his strength was not weaker than his! He directly asked his subordinates, “What skill did he use?”

One Shield Specialist replied awkwardly, “Besides that Death Grip, which is the same as the Boss’ outside, we temporarily don’t know the rest.”

“He did not use any skills to beat the three of you up to such an extent?” Dark Emperor gasped. The three Shield Specialists were first-rate experts in the guild. Though Shield Specialists were not good in PKing, they had been beaten up until low health by normal attacks and were even unable to find out any skills. They had also given up on resisting, just how powerful was that person?

The rotten flesh on one of the Undead Shield Specialists had already turned red from embarrassment. “Boss, I don’t think he is a player. He might be a Guild NPC disguised as a player to obstruct your God of War’s trial. Otherwise, how could he be that strong? He could deal 1,500 points of damage with one stab of his sword!”

God of War’s trial!

Lin Jie was astonished. He did not expect that the other person that had accepted the God of War’s trial was Dark Emperor!

Language barrier? That’s right, of course, one would not be able to understand the language of the other camp, but don’t forget Graceful Snake had also not realized the language problem at first, so she had not adjusted her language settings. Thus, Lin Jie had been able to understand her.

That was because Lin Jie had learned Truman’s Language of the Undead, and these three Undead players were the same as Graceful Snake—they were from Truman Town. It was obvious that the game had arranged for them to be born there from the start.

Never in their dreams would they expect that a Guild player had actually eavesdropped on their conversation!

Dark Emperor’s pupils constricted as he heard “God of War’s trial”, and he stared at that Guild player while being slightly nervous. He realized that the Guild player was still smiling casually without any reaction, so he secretly heaved a sigh of relief and said, “What is his objective?”

“I don’t know Boss, didn’t you learn the human language before? Can you communicate with him?” asked one of them.

“I’ll try.” Dark Emperor frowned.

Truthfully speaking, he was also very interested in Lin Jie. Dark Emperor also knew a human language, that was the first reward he had chosen when he had completed the first God of War’s trial, giving up the choice of powerful skills and equipment. Instead, he had chosen such a thing as the human language. Meanwhile, in the subsequent adventures, he had discovered plenty of hidden clues and side missions from the Tribe’s main enemies—Paladins—that other players were impossible to obtain, thus allowing his strength to increase exponentially.

“Cough, cough, hello…” Dark Emperor’s throat vibrated and let out stiff sounds.

Lin Jie looked at him in astonishment. “Oh? You can speak the human language?”

Dark Emperor’s mouth twitched before he nodded. “Are you a player or an NPC? What have you come here for? I have no ill intentions. If you need my assistance, I can help you.”

“Help me? I believe your thoughts were different at the start, right? You know, using Undead Chain to lock me up and wanting to keep me captive to farm Commendation Signets and equipment,” said Lin Jie with a smile.

Although he was not a Tribe player, he was reborn, so he still knew a few things. Saying it out now could confuse the Dark Emperor.

“You…” Dark Emperor pondered for a moment. “Looks like you know a lot about the Tribe.”

Lin Jie shrugged. “Although Tribe and Guild are opposing camps, we can obtain many benefits from one another. For example, you killing me and vice versa. However, that’s what idiots do. As clever people, the first thing we should think of is cooperation! Also, you know the Guild language, so you should have a better understanding. Cooperating is what benefits both of us, and that is also the reason I’ve found you.”

Dark Emperor blurted out, “You want slaves?” If one had to say the most special advantage of Tribe players, it would most likely be the fact that they were able to capture slaves. However, it was a pity the intelligence of those slaves was not high, so he was unable to command them in battles, such as when fighting against Alpistin. Otherwise, they would be a vital battle asset.

“That’s right. I want slaves.” Lin Jie suddenly thought of something and chuckled. “Actually, you are not the only one I’ve discussed with about collaborating. But I heard that the strongest team in the Royal Capital of Darkness was your Blood-Sucking. Such being the case, I have come to find you to cooperate.”

Dark Emperor went silent.

Although it seemed that Blood-Sucking ruled the main city, there were still many people fighting for the best guild in the Royal Capital of Darkness. They may seem to be staying low normally, but they were like poisonous snakes, concealing themselves and ready to bite when one was not careful.

This was such a case. Whichever guild met a Guild player, who could enter the Tribe, was an opportunity to acquire a large amount of impossible-to-obtain items through the exchange with the Guild. That said guild would immediately expand and become stronger, so they could rely on such things to win support from the people. In addition, the Blood-Sucking guild had been ruling over the Royal Capital of Darkness for quite some time, so many guilds had the intention to revolt against it. What if a battle was started…

Dark Emperor immediately recognized the importance of the person in front of him and asked, “Who has wanted to cooperate with you?”

Lin Jie smiled and looked at that guild leader with a meaningful smile.

“Cough, cough, it was rude of me to ask. Choosing to work with me is a wise decision. There are also good or bad slaves in the Tribe. Only innermost ones have the strongest Strength stats and even consumed some rare treasures before becoming a slave. Only those are the best merchandise! I can prepare a batch of slaves for you. And you, what can you give me?” asked Dark Emperor.

“Equipment with Holy Light attributes, above the grade of Gold,” replied Lin Jie.

“Deal!” exclaimed Dark Emperor.

Tribe players would mostly choose races like Orcs and Undead. Also, their Job-Change were related to Dark creatures, like Devils. No matter if it were Devil Hunters of the Hunter job, which mainly hunted down Devils as their background story, or Berserkers, like Dark Emperor, that would drink the Devils’ blood, they were all the same.

Their blood belonged to the lineage of Dark creatures, thus when they were attacked with Holy Light, the Damage Dealt would be twice as high. Meanwhile, at the Tribe, Holy Light-type items were basically impossible to find, and they the best items to have, be it for PK or farming in the wild!

Lin Jie observed Dark Emperor’s behavior, while he started thinking of all kinds of plans in his head.

After a while, Lin Jie took out an item and held it in his hand. He then stretched it towards Dark Emperor silently.

[Sword of Judgment] (Dark Gold)

Requires: Level 30

Attack: 210-345

Strength: +35

Endurance: +25

Attack Speed: +10%

Holy Light damage: +30

Additional effect: Each of your attacks will deal Holy Flame effect to the target. It deals an additional 15% of Holy Light-attribute damage.

Additional effect: There are chances that your attack will release an attack wave that can deal 300 points of Holy Light damage to enemies in a fan-shaped range.

That longsword was the weapon given to Retribution Paladin Ten Thousand Men’s Enemy back at the Crescent Canyon. Its basic attributes were not counted as the best, but it had the most additional Holy Light effects from all the Level 30 weapons. When leveling up in Darkness maps, it would be even more powerful than Level 40 Dark Gold weapons! Such a weapon was definitely a bug-like existence in Tribe’s maps.

Dark Emperor gasped, and his eyes gleamed. “What do you mean?”

“To show my sincerity,” said Lin Jie calmly. “Since we decided to cooperate, I’ll show my sincerity first. This counts as my gift for you. If you want to complete the deal, then wait for me here three days later, I will come.”

After he finished, Lin Jie put the equipment on the ground and was about to leave.

It was a battle of mind games!

Lin Jie knew that with the status and thought process of this person before him, it was not that simple for him to accept the deal so easily. Thus, he wanted to let Dark Emperor dispel his concerns and then make a move. As for cooperating? Leaving aside that Dark Emperor had wanted to keep Lin Jie captive and kill him, just by the fact that he was the person who had accepted the God of War’s trial mission, Dark Emperor had to die!

Dark Emperor was conflicted. In the beginning, he did not have any plans to cooperate, but now, he was wavering. The Guild’s equipment had the effects that could naturally overpower Tribe players. Who could compete with him in the Tribe if his members possessed such equipment?

Maybe, they could cooperate!

Dark Emperor picked up the weapon and shouted, “Hey, this is for you.”

As he spoke, a badge-like item was thrown towards Lin Jie.

—’You have received Royal Capital of Darkness’ Low-Level Warlord Token.’

“This item can allow you to go anywhere at will in all the surrounding maps of the Royal Capital of Darkness and not be discovered. Three days later, I’ll wait for your news at the city gate of the Royal Capital of Darkness,” said Dark Emperor. He had specially fixed the trading place to be at the city gate to show his sincerity. It was obvious he had wanted to cooperate.

“Thank you. Since that is so, I’ll take my leave first. We will meet three days later,” said Lin Jie. “For our first batch of exchange, I will need 300 slaves. I will also prepare 150 Gold items.”

After finishing, Lin Jie immediately left.

The first step of the plan was a success!

Naturally, Lin Jie was not a person who would easily trust others. Imagine, if it were Lin Jie who was in the City of Light and encountered a Tribe player who wanted to strike a deal with him, what would Lin Jie do? Very simple: Try his best to control the other person to stay within his territory, then think of what to do next, be it killing the person or continuing the trade. That would depend on the behavior of the other person.

In order to achieve that aim, the first step was to let the other person see one’s sincerity by giving that person an item, which could allow them to enter the main city.

‘Warlord token? How could I not know that as long as you issue an order, it will immediately lose its effect? However, this is fine as in the time you kill Alpistin, I will complete the God of War’s trial. Meanwhile, Dark Emperor, as the price for attacking me, you’ll temporarily pay with the status of your Blood-Sucking guild!”
