Chapter 1300: Liberating Him

Wabei gritted his teeth. “Little wolf pup, you have turned bad from example!”

This couple was using the same method to threaten him!

Damn! They were both Beast Kings and more powerful than him. He was the one always being bullied!

He sighed…

Ha, the truth was meaningless in Snake’s eyes. As long as Gu Mengmeng said it, even she claimed that fishes were flying and birds were swimming—Snake would believe her without any hesitation.

Elvis smiled. “Thank you for your compliment.”

While Gu Mengmeng was settling Wabei’s matter, Lea had already stewed a pot of food. He called Gu Mengmeng and Elvis over to eat.

Apart from Gu Mengmeng and her males, the dining table comprised Wabei, Ian, Gregory and the constant presence of Auretin.

As Gregory was around, no one mentioned the information that Gu Mengmeng had obtained from the Beast Deity. After all, Gregory was not one of them. Although he liked Gu Mengmeng, he had yet to reach the trusted status of Wabei, Ian and Auretin.

Gu Mengmeng asked as she ate, “How long was I asleep this time?”

Lea’s gaze drifted over to Gregory. He replied mildly, “Five days.”

Five days…

Gu Mengmeng nodded. “Gregory, so you are leaving today?”

Gregory’s heart tightened as he nodded reluctantly.

Actually, for just a second there, he nearly blurted out that his wounds had yet to heal and he wanted to stay on a couple more days to recuperate. But… male vultures just had an indestructible sense of pride embedded in their bones.

Although Gu Mengmeng had been a bit heavy-handed when she pushed him that day, he had already recovered after resting for the past three days.

He was unwilling to exhibit any signs of weakness in front of Gu Mengmeng. He was even more willing to lie to her.

“So have you come up with a reason to convince me to bring you up the mountains?” Gregory’s gaze was profound. His eyes looked calm, but a fierce anticipation and longing churned beneath the surface.

Gu Mengmeng shook her head as she looked at Elvis’ chest with a smile. “There appears to be no way to realize the marriage agreement set down by that great lord for the vulture tribe. I met that great lord and he asked me to tell you to just forget about that contract. From today onwards, the leader of the vulture tribe is free to marry whoever he pleases. There is no need to spend the rest of your life in loneliness just to abide by that agreement.”

Traces of disappointment and desolation appeared on Gregory’s face. That marriage agreement was a promise, as well as a lock and chain to the vulture tribe. But he didn’t feel any sense of relief now that it had been dissolved.

Could he pursue Gu Mengmeng now that he wasn’t bound by the marriage contract?

But… why didn’t he feel any joy?

Ha, he understood now.

The huge gulf between them was never due to that marriage contract.

The facts were there right before his eyes. Now that he was to leave, she wasn’t trying to keep him at all.

He had been so mentally well-prepared. No matter how ridiculous her excuse might be—as long as she showed the slightest inclination for him to stay or bring her along with him—he would have agreed.

But she had just calmly shook her head and even “liberated” him, allowing him “marry at his own freewill”.

“The Love of the Sky, don’t you want it anymore?” Gregory asked in a light manner.

Gu Mengmeng smiled. “Of course I still do. Without that object, my males won’t let me bear children.”

Gregory’s heart felt like it was being carved up by a dagger.

So she had been trying so hard to seek the Love of the Sky, just to bear offspring for her partners.

Ha, this was a treasure of the Beast World, and she wanted to use it for such a purpose…
