Chapter 1308: Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

“Why? Did they request it?” Gu Mengmeng frowned.

Sandy laughed. “They wouldn’t dare to make any requests. They have become extremely obedient after you taught them a lesson that time. But isn’t this the goal of the alliance? If we want to have the wolf tribe really support Hede and Jialue—I, as the face of the alliance, must give birth to a new generation for the wolves. Only then will the alliance really be firmed up. In the future, if you and Lea and bear a daughter, just take one of my wolf sons as a partner… by then, Sauder would truly be united.”

Gu Mengmeng didn’t reply to Sandy as she didn’t want to impose her own views on marriage upon her. But she knew that should her daughter want to get a partner someday, it would be someone she liked and not for the sake of some dumb alliance.

But Gu Mengmeng was unable to tell Sandy this.

Sandy was gradually becoming more mature as she was taking on the responsibility that Gu Mengmeng should have bore. This was because when Cole was scheming against Gu Mengmeng, Sandy had prevented Collin, in his duty as the Messenger’s guard, from joining Elvis and the rest in the great battle against Sauder.

That bit of guilt had been festering inside her heart, and she was using every resource she had to try and make amends for it.

Gu Mengmeng had told her repeatedly not to take it to heart and that she had never blamed Sandy. But Sandy could not stop blaming herself. Whenever she failed to do something that she could have done for Gu Mengmeng, Sandy would be endlessly tortured by an immeasurable sense of guilt.

At the end of the day, she just cared too much for Gu Mengmeng.

The males who had gone out hunting started returning when evening fell. Elvis was in a hurry to see Gu Mengmeng again and was naturally the first to return.

He had the wild wolves deliver the hunted game back to the stone castle while he went straight to Sandy’s to get Gu Mengmeng.

Sandy’s seven partners followed close behind, and the eight wolves came sprinting over in a grand and energetic manner.

By the time he came before Gu Mengmeng, Elvis had already morphed into human form. He lifted her up into his arms and kissed her little face. “I missed you so much.”

Elvis said this every single time he returned to her after he had been out hunting.

At first, Gu Mengmeng felt he was being too mushy, but she was now used to it. Hence she hugged him back. “It has been hard on you. I missed you too.”

Sandy’s seven partners were all panting heavily when they finally came to a stop. They were already pushing the boundaries of their physical limits, but the difference in speed between third and fourth-level beasts and the Beast King was just too great.

Even so, their eyes still glowed with excitement.

The stronger the king, the more powerful the tribe would be. And a male’s desire for power was endless.

Elvis was just about to carry Gu Mengmeng off when he noticed a yellow figure galloping over. It came to a screeching halt right in front of Sandy, kicking up a huge dust cloud.

Gu Mengmeng smiled after realizing who it was.

“Hubby, let’s go home.” Gu Mengmeng patted Elvis on the shoulder.

Elvis replied, “We are not going over to greet Bode?”

Gu Mengmeng smiled again. “The couple has been apart for so long and absence makes the heart grow fonder. Do you want to stay on and be a third wheel?”

“Absence makes the heart grow fonder?” Elvis didn’t understand.

Gu Mengmeng whispered in Elvis’ ear, “If you have been away on business for over a month. What’s the first thing you would do when you return?”
