Chapter 1595: The Valley of Spears

Translator: Exodus Tales  Editor: Exodus Tales

“You guys are here. Why are there so many people?”

“Indeed. These are all my friends. They are willing to sacrifice their lives for your safety,” Whinging Hollow said with a hoarse voice. It was only now that he had finally grasped the fact that the enemy was already in front of him. His respect for this Thief Mentor grew even more.

“Hehe…an adventurer from the Horde.”

Ed Harris smiled. It seemed that he didn’t mind working with the enemy camp’s players.

This led to everyone breathing a sigh of relief because they could continue with their original plan. If Ed Harris had rejected the notion of working together with the enemy camp, then the only thing that Glory Capital could do was to kill this NPC and treat him like a Wild Boss.

That was the last possible option. After all, they didn’t know whether he would drop an Enhancing Skill Book even if they killed him.

It was good that it was simple.

“Can we go in now? Or, you could just give us the herb’s description, and we’ll go and pick them out for you. This way, it would be safer.”

Whinging Hollow hoped for Lu Li to nod his head. If things proceeded as he suggested, then the difficulty of the quest would drop by at least tenfold. Perhaps they would only need a few Thieves to complete the quest.

“Truthfully speaking, I don’t know what the herbs look like either. I only know that it grows within this mountain,” Lu Li said regretfully.

Well, that couldn’t be helped. To have a quest give two Epic items and an Enhancing Skill Book was already indicative that it couldn’t have been easy to complete. Whinging Hollow only wanted to give it a try.

“Alright then. Let’s go.”

Lu Li led the way into the valley with the players from Glory Capital following closely behind. They all surrounded Lu Li in the middle.

If Lu Li was using his player identity, he would already be dead.

Fortunately, he was identified as an NPC, and moreover, he was an NPC who needed escorting. It was quite ironically funny. His nemesis was now trying their utmost best to protect him while stepping ever closer to the trap that he laid.

The first contact was with the Centaurs.

There were many Centaurs outside the Desolace. It could be said that this whole area was the Centaurs’ territory. The Centaurs’ principles were built on the foundation of war. Only the most powerful could survive in the Centauri society, but these were also usually the most evil.

There were also four different Centauri clans here. One was led by Khan Dez’hepah, and was called the Kolkar clan. Another was the Magram Clan, led by Khan Jehn. The third one was led by Khan Shaka, and was called the Gelkis Clan. The final one, which was also the greatest one, was the Maraudine Clan. This great clan was the ancestor of all other Centauri and was also the protector of Zaetar’s tomb.

The Magram was able to conquer the Valley of Spears because they had an advantage. They began to learn necromancy, so they were able to control a few undead beings. The existence of the Mok’Nathal spirits were tempting them.

Then, the Centauri quickly discovered a rule.

Everyday, when the sun set in the west, an odd-looking Orc would enter from outside the Valley of Spears, along with his gigantic bear. Then, he would kill all Centaurs on sight. This was especially true when the Centaurs captured the Mok’Nathal spirits.

This strange Orc would always enter their territory when the last sliver of sunlight disappeared from the Valley of Spears.

Then, when the sun rose and shone on the Valley of Spears again, he would bring his gigantic bear and leave. The Magram Clan had deployed members of the clan to follow him previously. They found that he would go through the Desolace, enter Feralas, then return back to the Valley of Spears in dusk.

His routine was the same and never late. No living being could obstruct him.

Of course, Lu Li knew of this, which was also precisely the reason why he unhesitatingly dug his trap at the Valley of Spears. He wanted to employ Rexxar’s assistance in teaching these players of Glory capital a lesson.

Now, Rexxar was already in the Valley of Spears.

All he had to do was wait for the people of Glory Capital to enter the trap. Outside of the Valley of Spears hid a group of Thieves, led by a player called Buggy. This group was a secretive, yet extremely powerful mercenary group.

Of course, the relationship between them and Lu Li was one of utmost secrecy as well.

This time, Lu Li chose not to use the people from Ruling Sword. This was because he wouldn’t be blamed for this trap. However, if it was Buggy and the mercenary group, then there was no problem. After all, mercenary groups only prioritised self-benefit and generally wouldn’t accept being under the command of clubs. The only exceptions were the mercenary groups working together with the Gangnam Royals.

“Brother Buggy, when do we go in?” a masked thief called Black asked.

Buggy, who was also masked, slowly replied, “Of course, only after when everyone is dead. We just need to loot their equipment. I’ll say this first. This time, we’re only getting 20% of the loot. The rest is for Lu Li. Don’t blame me if any of you guys decide to grab some for yourselves.”

“Brother Buggy, don’t worry. We all know the rules,” Black answered. “Brother Lu Li is in there as well. Is he alright?”

“Of course he won’t be alright. Furthermore, he’ll definitely die. It’s Rexxar that we’re talking about. According to what Lu Li said, there are no chances of anyone remaining alive,” Buggy sighed. “Lu Li is too ruthless. He’s ruthless to others and himself as well.”

“To exchange one life for this many is worth it,” Black said, admiring Lu Li for his actions.

Lu Li was watching on as the people from Glory Capital killed the Centaurs. These Centaurs were only around level 50, so it was a completely one-sided massacre.

They were simply too unfortunate. They managed to avoid Rexxar returning home and came out to celebrate, but they ended up encountering these Glory Capital players.

The items that the Centaurs dropped were not bad, but the people from Glory Capital didn’t want them. Their target was the depths of the Valley of Spears, where the rare herbs grew.

“Respected Lord Ed Harris. We are nearing the lands of the Ogres. You must be careful.”

Whinging Hollow had already emphasised this three times. He hoped that this Ed Harris wouldn’t run around randomly, but he looked like he was smart enough to stay put.

The scariest part about escorting quests was the NPC dying because of the players’ incompetence. Not only would the quest be failed, but the players involved would also lose a great amount.

“Don’t worry. I am able to protect myself against these spirits. However, all my attention will be on the herbs, so I will need all of you to assist me,” Lu Li said expressing his willingness to work together.

They finally encountered these spirits of the Mok’Nathal ogres. It was said that the Mok’Nathal blood was one that was of noble status. It was unfortunate that they were all massacred in the betrayal of Gul’dan. Besides these spirits who were not able to rest in peace, only Rexxar, the legendary Beast King, remained.
