Chapter 1817: Never Say Die

Fel Reavers were the peak creation of Engineering. Besides the complexity of their inner workings, they were gigantic. If Infinite Starry Sky was left to deal with it alone, he might not complete it even after 3 months of working. As such, he would need a group of Engineering students.

They were called students, but all of them had the same level of Engineering. All of them were level 60.

In the beginning, everyone was disgruntled. Why were they still doing student-work when they were all the same level?

Student just involved making spare parts, which gave some Engineering experience points. However, it couldn’t be compared to the growth of Infinite Starry Sky’s experience. Furthermore, when the Fel Reaver was complete, Infinite Starry Sky would take the credit for it as well.

Everyone wanted to have something that they were known for when learning a Profession.

However, as they began the project, they slowly understood. This was because they found that Infinite Starry Sky was able to refer to similar machinery in the real world effectively as well. They realised that he was a robotics specialist in real life and was someone who was highly capable.

If players could understand how real life mechanical engineers thought, then they would naturally be able to pick things up quickly in the game as well. This was why Infinite Starry Sky called the Life Alliance a ragtag group of people.

Lu Li didn’t stay and witness the birth of the first Fel Reaver.

This was because he estimated that the success rate of the first Fel Reaver would be close to zero. He had already prepared himself to waste the materials.

Furthermore, he had recruited Infinite Starry Sky for the creation of the Fel Reaver not only because of his success rate, but also for another reason. Infinite Starry Sky had a rare Engineering skill, which had a chance of converting failed products back into some of the used materials.

Because of this skill, they wouldn’t be losing as much money.

Infinite Starry Sky was precious. It was unfortunate that they were unable to fully recruit him. They could only hope to progress slowly and hopefully, one day he would have a sense of belonging within their organisation.

Hachi Chan had already completed her quest. Danath Trollbane could not hide his own affection towards Hachi Chan, giving her an abundant amount of EXP and Fame. After all, they had killed a level 62 Wild Boss. Then, Hachi Chan rose to the top of the level rankings.

She was also rewarded with a level 65 equip that had a decreased level requirement and was Epic tier.

As well as this, she was given a skill book. Unfortunately, it wasn’t an Enhanced Skill Book, but it was the most popular Skill Book at that time. This was the Apprentice Flying Mount skill book. Hachi Chan had a flying mount, but she did not possess the Skill Book.

Lu Li wanted to hug Danath Trollbane’s leg and yell, “Dad! Dad! I don’t have one either! Give me one, please!” However, he, of all people, knew that the ending would not be that peaceful. It was extremely likely that Danath Trollbane would kick Lu Li away, then skewer him on his hammer and cook him for dinner.

“These were gained from my early years of adventuring.”

Danath Trollbane was still taking items out.

What the hell? Was the System not going to limit this? This was enough to tilt the balance of the game. Lu Li’s jealousy was going through the roof. He wanted to go and secretly report Hachi Chan to the officials. However, since Hachi Chan was known as the System’s daughter, the System might not have even deal with her properly. Furthermore, he might end up as the one punished instead and have his luck and Charisma values drop even further. Upon considering this, he gave up on that idea.

“Wow! This is such a pretty bag! Thanks Uncle Danath!” Hachi Chan was over the moon.

She didn’t even look at its storage space. Lu Li was curious and lamented upon Hachi Chan’s attention to detail.

Hachi Chan’s part was complete, so Lu Li cosied up to Danath Trollbane and said, “I completed the mission. General, the Mageddon Forge Camp has already been reduced to rubble. Including the Razorsaw, all the Legion monsters are dead.

“My warriors have already returned for a long time, yet you only just reported it to me,” Danath Trollbane said coldly as his expression immediately changed. “You should thank the stars that you are not a professional soldier. Otherwise, I would be using the name of the military to punish you.”

“No, General. There’s a misunderstanding. On the way back, I was pursued by countless soldiers,” Lu Li lied, completely ignoring the condescending look in Danath’s eyes. “However, I found a secret place.”

“What secret place?” Danath Trollbane’s attention was successfully diverted.

“Do you know about the Hellfire Ramparts?” Lu Li asked.

“Of course. During the first and second Orc Wars, it was the main territory of the Orcs. It was a sacred area that could not be touched. However, the large fortress has already been abandoned for so many years. Why did you mention it now?”

“I just saw a Fallen Orc who was red and went berserk. Furthermore, I think that they found a new source of corruption to satisfy their original thirst for blood. I heard a thunderous and wild roar from the depths of the fortress. General, I have reason to believe that this will be our next threat,” Lu Li reported.

“Bastards! These corrupted Orcs…” Danath Trollbane seemed like he knew about this too, so he immediately accepted Lu Li’s words.

He turned around and looked at Hachi Chan, who was counting her dollars with Remnant Dream and said, “Young and brave girl! There is an imminent threat on the horizon. The future is unclear, and is shrouded in mystery. Are you willing to help us provide insight and gather information about the incoming war?”

Lu Li nearly fainted.

It was him who triggered the quest, yet it was Hachi Chan who received the quest instead. How was this fair?

“I am willing,” Hachi Chan immediately accepted. Both Hachi Chan and Remnant Dream were laughing and couldn’t stand up straight. They loved to see Lu Li devastated. They didn’t want to steal his quest, but it was just a pure stroke of misfortune.

Danath Trollbane began to give the details of the quest.

“Go to the outside of the Hellfire Ramparts and kill 20 Hellfire Sentries and gather some letters from their corpses.”

Then, he looked at Lu Li.

“Hah! He’s finally looking at me now.”

The situation wasn’t all hopeless now. Danath Trollbane still remembered him. After all, he was good friends with Windsor.

“Follow them. Protect them. Do not let a single hair on their arms be touched. Soldier, can you do this?”

“Pft!” Lu Li nearly spat out blood. He was just an escort.
