Chapter 306: Negotiation (2)

Jinpok burst out into laughter.

“Hahahaha! Duvall!! Hahahahaha!”

Duvall frowned as Jinpok laughed out loud. Duvall was one of the highest-ranked officers within the army and the only ones who spoke casually to him were the emperor, Jinpok, and Doral.

“Ha… thanks for that.”

Duvall responded bitterly to Jinpok’s laughter.

“Oh, but I should congratulate you all for that too.”

“Huh?”

“For what?”

“The goblin king has many wives and daughters. Hahaha. I suspect you will have more wives coming for you.”

Jinpok, however, laughed it off.

“Oh! I welcome daughters of the king. Well, but let’s not try to make interspecies babies.”

Everyone became shocked. Jinpok glanced around at everyone and spoke.

“Why? It’s only the beginning you know. It’s not only the king. All those goblins will be sending females and we cannot reject them. If we do, it’ll be another war… We all know that, don’t we?”

Jinpok spoke as he looked at Joonbum. Duvall also added, “Yes. There will be more coming… they will be trying to use it to their advantage. To sell their daughters.”

“Sell?”

“They will want to receive something with them.”

“Oh.”

Humans did the same thing when Joonbum became the emperor of the new Khalodian Empire. They requested marriages to the emperor and the empire had to take many of their requests so that they could avoid war and stabilize the new empire.

It was the same here as well. This world was no longer owned by humans. It was controlled by monsters and required coexistence with them to live in peace.

“Well, we do have the choice of using weapons of mass destruction to wipe them out… but that would ruin the lands so we’d have to leave. Besides, that might bring about another disaster that we cannot foresee. From our reports, Earth has now been stabilized so it’s better not to disturb it in any way we can. So the easiest way is to accept the goblins’ requests.”

Whatever happened in the negotiations was no longer amusing to Duvall.

“And what are we getting from it?”

“Trust with the goblins?”

“Trust?”

“Is that possible?”

“As long as their leader stays, they will stay. Their kings are different from humans. They have more control over their race.”

“Do we really need to go that far?”

“I know. Seriously, is this all you tacticians can think of?”

Some commanders were not happy about all this.

“We are talking about millions of lives here. We have to feed them and provide shelter. We have enough since we were successful in taking over and excavating the land of the old Korean peninsula.”

Duvall paused for a second and continued, “And the Khalodian Empire sent us vast amounts of supplies, enough to let us last for years. However, with the gate closed, we now have to support ourselves. We are on the way of doing it on our own here, but it is not enough. If we keep on warring with those monsters, we will reach a shortage much faster.”

Everyone nodded.

“If we ally with the goblins, we will be given large amounts of land that we can farm and breed animals while the goblins will keep us safe from other monsters. They don’t have any use for those plains anyway, so they won’t mind us using it.”

“Right.”

Jinpok nodded. The armies had been consuming a lot of meat and they required large facilities to breed livestock. It was a good opportunity to easily get that by siding with the goblins.

“I don’t like it one bit either, but we need to make some sacrifices. Okay, let’s take it,” Joonbum decided. Joonbum, Jinpok, and Doral then walked out quietly.

“Why don’t we visit the plains that we’ll be getting?”

“Oh, that’s a good idea. Let’s go.”

Jinpok and Doral both agreed with Joonbum’s idea.

‘It’s been a while since we traveled with only the three of us.’

They were always with other soldiers that they didn’t have much time alone.

“Let’s go!”

The three of them got up on their horses and began to ride out. As they rode through the deep forest, they soon reached the large plains that spread out into the horizon. It was like a sea of land.
