Chapter 307: Negotiation (3)

“Kiiieeek! Smell!”

A goblin sniffed around and raised its bow. It was not a crude bow like the ones they normally used, but it was a well-made one. The arrow was fired at an animal.

“Wolf!”

“Kiiek! Heron! Good eyes!”

Heron smiled bitterly. It wasn’t his eyes, but the night vision goggles that allowed him to see in the dark. But he couldn’t see more clearly than the goblins.

‘Now I have to stand guard with a monster?’

It was unimaginable just a year ago. He was determined when he first came over the Gate. There were rumors that the gate might not open again, but with the Emperor going, there still were many volunteers like Heron.

“Kieeek! Heron! Thinking about females?”

“Ugh.”

Heron coughed. The goblin burst into laughter.

“Kiik. We need make babies with females on day like this. Kiik kiikk!”

The goblin cackled with laughter as Heron frowned.

‘Ugh, this perverted goblin.’

“I like new young female. Name Jenah. Now I guard, she flash butt at me. Kik!”

Heron sighed. This was the usual start of a long talk by the goblin. He had to respond.

‘I don’t want him to get mad at me either.’

“Kiik! Good here! Safe! Lots food! Good job! Popular to females! Kik kiik!”

After the negotiation, the war against the goblins was declared to be over. Now, large fights were solely on the goblins, unless it was too difficult that they needed help. With the help of humans, goblins spread through the entire continent and allowed the Khalodians to rescue more survivors. And with that, goblins were also given jobs that worked together with humans; those jobs became popular among the goblins.

“Kiiek! Smell! Coming!”

Heron then turned in the direction the goblin pointed at. Large wolves began to appear.

“A lot! Lot!”

‘There are five.’

Heron fired a red signal fire into the air and the wolves scattered in surprise.

“Kieee!”

At the sharp sound of a whistle, the goblin began to shout and the five wolves slunk back into the dark forest.

“Kiiek! Run! Gone!”

Heron laughed. It was funny that goblins changed their emotions so quickly.

‘Well… it isn’t too bad.’

Heron and the goblin were stationed there to protect the large plains. It was boring but important as there were a huge amount of Durans and livestock being raised in the plains.

‘But what happened to this place anyway? How did those humans turn into monsters? I hope it’s not contagious.’

Earth had millions of humans living on it the past, but the human civilization fell due to earthquakes and the plague that spread. The plague corrupted humans and turned them into monsters. One such monster were the Amons that filled the old Korean peninsula. And there were also other such monsters in other regions.

In China, there were monsters called Gerg, named after the sounds they made. There were also monsters called Gordo, named by the goblins. They were long-bodied with eight legs that could move fast over land. Gordos lay beneath the ground most of the time and attacked when prey walked over them. They had a human-like face, but half of it was a huge mouth and they had no intelligence.
