Chapter 371: Battle! Port City of Veneth (3)

“Aaaargh!”

Retreating enemies were taken out by the ambushes set for them by the Khalodian Empire and enemy corpses lay all over the place.

‘This is the power of the Empire!’

War reporter Benjamin was thrilled to see this with his own eyes.

‘This is huge news!’

He had heard about the power of the Empire Army since he was very young. He had heard legendary tales of the Emperor Joonbum and his powerful army saving the world. All war episodes of the empire consisted of the Emperor Joonbum and his Commander Jinpok.

‘I thought it was all just a legend…’

He thought stories were exaggerated but after seeing it with his own eyes, he knew it wasn’t exaggerated after all. Rather, it was actually even more amazing than what he had heard.

‘This war is already won.’

Benjamin thought that he should see more to share the stories when he got back and began to run forward.

“Lieutenant Benjamin! You should fall back!”

“Dammit! Get him before he kills himself!”

The soldiers stopped Benjamin from running into the fierce battlefield. The soldier called Godric grabbed Benjamin.

“Are you crazy?”

“Oh, sorry, Sergeant Godric.”

“Yeah. Don’t worry about it.”

As Godric spoke, the area seemed to calm down as the enemies were being pushed back further.

“Whew. There goes my pictures.”

Benjamin commented in disappointment. Godric then glanced around and pointed somewhere.

“If you don’t go mad like just now, I will guide you to something you might like.”

“Hmm?”

Benjamin nodded at Godric’s words.

“Sure. You want a drink?”

“Oh! Alright.”

Benjamin then handed him a water bottle containing liquor. Godric opened it to smell and was surprised.

“Is this the Emperor’s liquor?”

“Oh, you know?”

Benjamin was surprised that Godric recognized the liquor.

“It’s the lowest grade, but it’s still authentic. My chief at HQ gave it to me when I volunteered for this.”

“Whoa. That’s a good chief you got there.”

“Yeah. He didn’t really like the idea of giving this up, but he couldn’t find any other volunteer, so…”

They took a sip of the liquor and got up.

“Good. Let’s go then, shall we?”

The two of them began to walk through the bushes for quite a long time. Soon, there was no longer any sign of battle nearby and Godric lowered his body. At the end of the forest, they saw it.

“WHA-!”

“Sshhhh! Quiet!”

“T-those bastards!”

There were enemy soldiers moving something. Benjamin realized what was being moved and quickly took pictures with his camera. The objects were iron cages with kids of various races being moved over to the other side of the grey Gate.

“Daddy!”

“Mom!!”

“I want to live! Please!”

“Don’t cry, Fia. The Emperor will save us soon.”

“He will rescue us. We have to wait for him!”

They were being kidnapped by the alien species but they were bravely holding out against their fears.

‘What is up with this idiot? This isn’t funny at all!’

Benjamin glared at Godric.

“They are taking our kids after destroying their towns. You never heard of them doing this, did you?’

Benjamin then came to his senses from rage.

“Look. They are all kids. And being taken care of too.”

It seemed the enemy wasn’t roughly handling these children. They were given food and water and also had facilities for taking care of their waste. It even seemed like they were protecting these children.
