Chapter 318: The Befuddled An Lin

Within the darkness, An Lin felt a soft warm hand on his forehead.
His body was wobbling with the wooden board under him, and he heard the sound of rotating carriage wheels and thunderous horse hooves.
This was quite weird.
An Lin immediately opened his eyes and abruptly sat up.
“Ah!” a high-pitched yell suddenly erupted from beside him as a woman retracted her slim hand as if she had been electrocuted.
“Are you a tomb keeper?” An Lin asked as he looked toward the woman in white beside him.
“Wh… what did you say?” the woman asked hesitantly.
An Lin had just posed the question to her in Tai Chu tongue while the woman was speaking in Mandarin.
“Are you the tomb keeper?” An Lin asked again in Mandarin.
The woman stared at him blankly. “What are you talking about, sir? I’m a doctor!”
“Huh?” An Lin blinked in confusion.
He surveyed his surroundings to find that he was in a barren desert. The horizon was extremely broad, and he could see eagles flying in the sky under the vibrant sun.
He retracted his gaze and looked around himself to find that he was in an open-top carriage.
There were a bunch of extremely imposing horses who were dragging along carriages full of merchandise as well as a few dozen people on horseback with swords strapped to their waist.
This was… the interior of the tomb?
An Lin: “…”
He took a deep breath and asked with a worried expression, “May I ask where we are at the moment?”
“Sure, this is the Drifting Cloud Desert!” the woman in white answered.
An Lin’s lips twitched slightly. “Tai Chu Continent?”
The woman in white looked at An Lin with furrowed brows and a peculiar expression. “You seem to be acting a bit strange, are you suffering from some memory problems? The world we are situated in is known as the Zhan Qi Continent, what is the Tai Chu Continent?”
An Lin looked at the woman and chuckled lightly.
Zhan Qi Continent?
What a vivid dream, is this some sort of illusion?
Fake, it’s all fake!
His storage ring flashed, and the Evil-Slaying Sword appeared in his hand.
“Wake up!”
An Lin roared as he slashed his Evil-Slaying Sword down onto his own arm.
“Ah! What are you doing!” The woman in white shrieked as her eyes widened in shock.
She then copped a face full of blood.
“Gasp!”
An Lin gritted his teeth and looked down at the wound on his arm as an all-too-realistic sense of pain shot through his body.
“Holy f*ck! This isn’t a dream?!”
He stared at his arm with a dumbfounded expression, and his brain seemed to have stopped functioning.
“Are you alright, Bai Shuyan?” A man charged over with an enraged expression before faltering at the sight of the bloody gash on An Lin’s arm.
“Everything’s fine. It seems like this man is a little bit emotionally unstable, and for some reason, he decided to slash himself with his sword,” the woman hurriedly explained.
The man: “… How the f*ck is that fine? What if this nutjob decided to cut you instead?”
Bai Shuyan: “…”
She had no response to that. After all, his concerns were quite valid. She turned to look back at An Lin.
An Lin was also looking at her, and he extended his bleeding arm out to her. “I heard you’re a doctor, can you take care of this for me?”
Bai Shuyan: “…”
The unfamiliar man became enraged again. “I told you not to rescue this guy, but you won’t listen to me! This is just adding to our burden. He’s going to waste our food and our medical supplies…”
“That’s enough! If you’re unhappy with me, why don’t you just toss me off the carriage!”
Bai Shuyan’s expression cooled as she retorted.
The unfamiliar man faltered in his words and glared angrily at An Lin before departing with a cold harrumph.
There was only one doctor on this caravan and it was quite a rare occupation. If he really did leave her behind, then there would be no one to tend to any wounds they might receive from being attacked by mutant beasts that lurked in the deserts.
On top of that, no one dared to mistreat her considering her social status.
“The man just then was the caravan leader, Chen Meng. He’s really annoying and likes to talk a lot, don’t take it to heart,” Bai Shuyan washed her face to remove the blood as she spoke.
She then cleaned An Lin’s wound and applied some ointment before strapping some bandages on his wound.
An Lin remained expressionless throughout the whole process as he stared blankly around him, muttering inaudibly to himself.
He brought out his voice transmission talisman to find that there was no signal.
He tried his phone, also no signal.
All the while Bai Shuyan was very carefully tending to his wounds.
After strapping on the bandages, she had her slender hands gently over An Lin’s wound and a white light began to emanate from her hands.
An Lin’s expression stirred slightly as he detected a peculiar energy.
“What is that white light?” He gasped in amazement.
“This is Battle Qi! I have healing-class Battle Qi. Are you suffering from memory loss? How do you not know what Battle Qi is?” Bai Shuyan stared at him with curiosity, wondering why he didn’t know something that was common knowledge for a three-year-old.
“Hehe, Zhan Qi Continent eh? Then there must also be Battlers, Battle Masters, Battle Grandmasters, Battle Spirits, Battle Kings, Battle Emperors, Battle Monarchs, Battle Lords, Battle Sages, and Battle Gods, right?” An Lin chuckled coldly, unsure if he was laughing at himself or laughing at the whole world.
“Huh? Where did you get so many ranks from? Aren’t there only Battle Masters, Battle Spirits, Battle Kings, Battle Emperors, Battle Sages, and Battle Gods?” Bai Shuyan exclaimed in shock.
An Lin’s lips twitched. “Hehe.”
He was trying to enter the Shou Yang Tomb; what the f*ck was he doing in this Zhan Qi Continent? This had to be the f*cking precursor to insanity!!
He couldn’t really complain if he was to transmigrate as a useless piece of trash, but he was destined for great things in the Tai Chu Continent!
Why the hell did he end up in the Zhan Qi Continent right now? What kind of bullsh*t was this!?
An Lin felt like he was near the brink of collapse.
He couldn’t accept his fate, and he didn’t want to accept his fate.
He had friends and family and many things that he couldn’t give up…
Boom…
The ground suddenly began to rumble and quake at this moment.
“It’s the mutant beasts, everyone be careful!” Chen Meng roared.
Everyone drew their swords and looked ahead with grave expressions.
Around a dozen huge wolves with brown fur suddenly appeared over the horizon.
These huge wolves were all around ten feet in size, and a vicious light glinted in their eyes.
“No! These are Desert Wolf Monarchs, each of them possessed strength equivalent to a Battle Spirit warrior…” All the blood drained from Bai Shuyan’s face as she stared into the distance with fear in her eye.
An lin looked at the wolves in the distance. “Battle Spirit? Is that strong?”
Bai Shuyan seemed to have already grown accustomed to An Lin’s ignorance and she opened her mouth to explain, “Only Chen Meng and I are Battle Spirit rank in this whole caravan. The rest are all only Battle Masters, and my Battle Qi is more geared toward healing, so I’ll only be able to take on one Desert Wolf Monarch…”
“So you’re all screwed,” An Lin summarised calmly.
Bai Shuyan flared up in rage. “What’s that supposed to mean? You’d be screwed too if we all died! Clean up your act, goddammit!”
“Don’t worry, I’m the man who will change the course of history, I can slaughter a dozen Desert Wolf Monarchs with a flick of my finger,” An Lin replied with a serious expression.
Bai Shuyan grimaced. She really had rescued a nutjob.
She didn’t continue speaking with An Lin and ran to Chen Meng’s side in the hope that their numbers would scare off the Desert Wolf Monarchs.
However, the Desert Wolf Monarchs seemed to be even more excited after seeing everyone lined up together.
The Desert Wolf Monarchs pounced toward the caravan squad and opened their mouths to expose the sharp teeth within.
All the caravan members were trembling uncontrollably. Even Bai Shuyan and Chen Meng had only fear in their eyes, but they had no choice but to fight. Only death would await them if they chose to run now!
Whoosh!
A dazzling sword projection descended with the mountainous force and instantly crushed the pack of Desert Wolf Monarchs.
Boom!
The residual power of the sword projection continued onward and sliced the mountain in the distance in half as well.
Everyone stared in shock at the scene in front of them as they stood rooted to the spot.
Bai Shuyan turned to look behind her.
Everyone else also followed her lead, and their eyes widened in shock.
They were greeted to the sight of a man in strange attire stowing a longsword away into his storage ring with a gleeful expression.
“Done!”
