Chapter 1621: Hanging on by a Thread

What did it feel like to be beaten up by tens of thousands of Ghost Tribe powerful beings at the same time?

This was the most terrifying torture in this world.

All sorts of curses and slaughter spell techniques rained down like a torrential downpour.

The Dark Spirit King felt like it had landed in hell and was suffering from tens of thousands of forms of terrifying torture.

All of a sudden, the loud sound of a gong being struck rang out across the judgment plaza.

“That’s fifteen minutes, everyone stop.”

Ding Xiaoru’s voice fell upon the ears of all of the Ghost Tribe powerful beings like a gentle spring breeze.

Patriarch Zhu Yin had already spoken, and no one dared to oppose him. All of the Ghost Tribe powerful beings obediently stopped what they were doing, but it looked like they hadn’t yet had enough, and some of them even wore expressions of disappointment.

If they left the Dark Spirit King alive, what if Patriarch Zhu Yin went elsewhere and the Dark Spirit King decided to take revenge? However, Patriarch Zhu Yin had instigated this event, so the Dark Spirit King wouldn’t dare to take vengeance, right? After all, doing so would be like a slap to the face for Patriarch Zhu Yin…

The Dark Spirit King’s body was riddled with wounds as it lay sprawled onto the ground. All five of its heads had tears in their eyes, and the corners of its lips curved upward, revealing smiles of the utmost relief. “I… I finally made it!”

It was already completely unrecognizable, and there were several hundred thousand wounds on its body, alongside all manners of destructive power that continued to wreak havoc. The fact that it was managing to hold on through sheer will was already a marvel in itself.

An Lin and Xu Xiaolan were also satisfied.

They had promised Ding Xiaoru that they were only going to beat the Dark Spirit King to the point of disability rather than kill it. In the Dark Spirit King’s current state, both its body and consciousness had been extremely severely wounded, and it wouldn’t be able to recover without at least a thousand years of recuperation, so there was no way it could contribute to the Heavenly Human Tribe United Army.

As for a thousand years later?

An Lin was confident that the Dark Spirit King would be nothing but trash in his eyes that far in the future.

“It’s so good to be alive…” The Dark Spirit King sighed in an extremely feeble voice.

Ding Xiaoru made his way toward the Dark Spirit King and looked down at the colossus who was sprawled at his feet like a dead fish. “Do you know what you did wrong?”

“Thank you for sparing my life, Patriarch Zhu Yin! I… I shouldn’t have been so rude to you and your friends…” the Dark Spirit King apologized with all its might.

“And?” Ding Xiaoru’s brows furrowed.

The Dark Spirit King shuddered as it scrambled for something else to apologize for before gushing in a panicked voice, “I shouldn’t have created such disgusting dark meat and forced all of the living beings in the city to accept it!”

Ding Xiaoru nodded before clasping his hand behind his back and speaking in a meaningful and heartfelt tone, “Remember, there will always be someone who will take you down a notch when you get too arrogant. An Lin did it this time, but next time, I might do it in person.”

“Yes, Patriarch Zhu Yin! I promise that something like this will never happen again!” The Dark Spirit King trembled as it made a desperate promise.

If Patriarch Zhu Yin taught it a lesson, it would have to be a lesson it would have to learn with its life!

In all honesty, the Dark Spirit King was only able to survive today as Ding Xiaoru was in a good mood after getting back together with Li Yiyin.

Otherwise, Ding Xiaoru would’ve killed the Dark Spirit King a long time ago.

Ding Xiaoru turned toward An Lin and the others with a smile. “Are you satisfied? If not, I’m happy to extend the session.”

What? Extend the session?!!

The Dark Spirit King’s five heads wept at the same time!

“I do want to continue, but in its current state, it’ll probably die after another punch.” An Lin clapped his hands together as if he wasn’t satisfied yet.

In reality, it didn’t matter much to him anymore. He had already completed the system mission, and the Dark Spirit King was pretty much disabled. At the very least, it would be no threat to the human race for a long time.

“Thank you for sparing my life, Sect Leader An Lin…” The Dark Spirit King bowed its heads with a disgraced and humiliated expression.

What had it done to be targeted by a freak like An Lin?

It had a feeling that even without the dark meat incident, this was probably going to happen anyway.

The only thing it couldn’t understand was how had An Lin become so chummy with Patriarch Zhu Yin? This didn’t make any sense!

No one was going to answer its questions.

The only thing it knew was that An Lin was most likely going to be able to do whatever he wanted in the Opposite Shore Realm from now on.

Oh, and also, the local dark meat delicacy was going to be wiped off the face of the world…

After a brutal beating, An Lin and the others left.

They came and went as free and graceful as the wind.

All of the tens of thousands of Ghost Tribe powerful beings also fled. Regardless of whether the Dark Spirit King dared to exact revenge on them, they couldn’t afford to stay at Tian Ming City any longer.

Even though they hadn’t really reaped any rewards from this experience, it was still really awesome to have been able to act as lapdogs for the paramount god of the Ghost Tribe!

Only a small portion of Ghost Tribe powerful beings who were very loyal to the Dark Spirit King stayed at Tian Ming City for logistic purposes, such as to sweep the floor and to carry the Dark Spirit King away…

At the border of the Opposite Shore Realm.

The purple-robed Ding Xiaoru waved farewell to An Lin.

“Mr. An Lin, contact me via voice transmission talisman the next time you come to the Opposite Shore Realm.”

“I’ll be sure to do so! Farewell, Senior.”

An Lin bade farewell to Ding Xiaoru and Li Yiyin with a buoyant smile before flying into Sinister Spirit Beast Cesspool territory.

This trip to the Opposite Shore Realm had reaped them more rewards than he had expected. Not only had he completed a part of the system mission, but he had also obtained the Underworld Dao Flower and established a great relationship with Patriarch Zhu Yin.

The process during which he pummeled Dark Spirit King had also been very satisfying.

How could it not be satisfying with Patriarch Zhu Yin helping them on the side?

The long-awaited sun reappeared, basking all three of them with a warm glow.

They were quite happy to be able to finally see the sun again after departing from the Opposite Shore Realm.

“Our next target is the Divine Bat Emperor. According to my sources, it’s currently situated in the Heavenly Beast Divine Mountain of the Sinister Spirit Beast Cesspool,” Xu Xiaolan relayed the information she had received from the Four Nine Immortal Sect to An Lin.

“The Divine Bat Emperor… That’s an old friend of ours…” An Lin smiled.

“It sure is. We almost died at its hands once.” A frosty smile appeared on Xu Xiaolan’s face. “It’s time we get some payback.”

Back in the day, they were carrying out a mission for the Heavenly Court and had entered the Vast Land of Blood to secure the Kirin Blood Jade. However, they were targeted by the Divine Bat Emperor and a few mighty figures at the Return to Void Pinnacle Stage. As a result, they really did come very close to dying there.

If it weren’t for the fact that the Celestial Thearch had arrived in time to save them, they would’ve been killed by the Divine Bat Emperor.

“Damn! I should’ve told it to rue the day when it crossed me back then so that I can remind it of that day now!” An Lin was a little depressed.

Xu Xiaolan rolled her eyes. “Is that really necessary?”

An Lin clenched his fists. “Of course! It would make the experience a lot more satisfying!”

“I’m starting to look forward to your encounter,” Tina said with a wide grin.

An Lin also smiled. “I hope the Divine Bat Emperor has improved in these past hundred years. Otherwise, it would be too easy an opponent for me…”
