Chapter 1037: The Sword Burial Necklace

“What do you want?”

Lan Xiaoni wrapped her arms around her chest at the sight of An Lin’s sinister smile, and she quickly opened up some distance between them with a fearful expression.

“How did you discover that treasure so quickly? Tell me the truth! Do you have more information regarding the Fallen God Seabed Tomb?” An Lin asked in a menacing voice.

Lan Xiaoni immediately shook her head. “No! I know nothing about this tomb! I had only coincidentally caught sight of that treasure just then, so I decided to try and take it.”

An Lin looked at the mirror in his hand to find that the Vermilion Bird Mirror had remained silent, thereby verifying the authenticity of Lan Xiaoni’s words. This wasn’t all that implausible. After all, this was the first time the tomb had ever opened up, so no one would have any idea of what lay within it.

“Alright then. Be careful and make sure you don’t die.” An Lin nodded before turning his eyes toward another direction.

Lan Xiaoni’s cold features were filled with rage, but she didn’t say anything.

She knew that An Lin was not saying this as a gesture of concern for her. If she died, the restrictions on the tomb would regard An Lin as an enemy and attack him.

Hence, he was only saying this for his own sake.

Sigh… If only Chen Nan were here… He would protect me…

A sense of disconsolation welled up in her heart as she reminisced about her deceased fiancee. However, the thought of him leaving her behind with zero hesitation during that dire situation flashed through her mind.

“Waah… Douchebag! So handsome but so unreliable…”

Lan Xiaoni burst into tears again. Even though she hadn’t been in a relationship with Chen Nan for a long time and that there was a certain purpose attached to their marriage, but her heart had still been completely won over by his absurdly handsome face! Who said love couldn’t be based on looks alone?

An Lin turned toward the bawling mermaid before speaking in a cold voice, “You’re right in calling me handsome, but the rest of that was all slander!”

Lan Xiaoni wiped the tears from her face, and her expression faltered slightly before she provided an explanation.

“I… I wasn’t talking about you.”

“Hmm? I’m not handsome?” An Lin raised his voice as killing intent spilled forth from his body.

“You… you are! You’re very handsome!” Lan Xiaoni’s body stiffened as she spoke.

“Don’t be such a crybaby, woman! It’s really annoying!” An Lin scolded in a stern voice.

Lan Xiaoni hung her head obediently and interlaced her fingers between one another. “Yes!”

An Lin nodded with satisfaction before leading the way forward. “Follow me. I’ll protect you.”

“Yes!” Lan Xiaoni nodded instinctively.

However, she soon came to her senses and looked up with incredulity in her blue eyes at the man walking ahead of her. Did he just… say that he would protect me?

An Lin’s original plan was to let Lan Xiaoni lead the way and use her as cannon fodder.

However, Lan Xiaoni was simply too weak, and he was afraid that she would die if she fell into some trap. If that happened, he would come under attack from the entire tomb.

After taking these factors into consideration, he decided to lead the way instead.

An Lin flew ahead atop his brick and unleashed his divine sense to scan the largest area possible.

“Hmm, there’s nothing else here. Let’s keep going.”

After flying for some distance, An Lin’s brows began to furrow.

This place was much more massive than he had imagined.

He cast his eyes in all directions to discover that there were antiquated swords stabbed into the ground wherever he looked, stretching as far as the eyes could see in all directions.

“That’s strange…” He suddenly slowed down.

Lan Xiaoni had a lapse in concentration, and she almost crashed into An Lin’s back, sending her heart rate accelerating through the roof for an instant.

“Wh… what is it?” the mermaid princess asked in a nervous voice as her blue eyes scanned their surroundings, thinking that they had fallen into some sort of trap.

“Where did the Spirit Fish Clan and Heavenly Turtle Tribe get so many swords?” An Lin was perplexed.

Lan Xiaoni: “…”

That was what this was all about?

An Lin continued, “Even though these antiquated swords aren’t very powerful and don’t seem like they’re very valuable either, making so many of them would still expend an unimaginable amount of labor and resources. So what’s the point? Why do these swords exist? There doesn’t appear to be any reason for their existence! Is this all just to create some sort of visual spectacle?”

Lan Xiaoni faltered slightly before realizing he had a point.

She had gradually become accustomed to seeing these swords and subconsciously ignored them, but after thinking about it, she too realized that they were quite bizarre.

It wasn’t exactly strange that a mighty figure’s tomb would have some visual spectacles, but one of this scale was just absurd.

This was like someone setting up a little garden in front of their mansion, which would probably earn them praise for their good taste. But what if they set up an artificial forest in front of their mansion? They would be denounced as a nutjob!

An Lin suddenly thought of that blue necklace.

Initially, he had intended to take the necklace and study it once he was out of this tomb.

However, he suddenly recalled back to how all of the antiquated swords seemed to have sprung to life when he and Lan Xiaoni tried to grab the necklace. Could there be a reason for this?

An Lin pulled the blue necklace out of his storage ring.

The necklace was like an indescribably powerful electromagnetic, which instantly drew all of the antiquated swords below to them. Countless flying swords pierced through the air like a reversed storm, slashing toward An Lin with fearsome force.

Lan Xiaoni’s expression shifted drastically upon seeing this, and she was just about to unleash spell techniques to combat the swords when she heard a cold harrumph.

Boom!

Purple divine flames erupted forth, enshrouding both of them within. Their devastating temperatures made the air shimmer and warp as the ground below melted. The flying swords crashed into the barrier of flames, only to be instantly vaporized by the fearsome temperatures. Not even a single one of them was able to break through.

Lan Xiaoni stopped what she was doing and turned to the man beside her. She was greeted by a pair of tranquil and calm eyes that did not see the powerful flying swords as a threat whatsoever.

A strange thought welled up in her heart. From a certain perspective, An Lin was actually quite a reliable man…

After unleashing his Demonic Star Flame, An Lin focused on the necklace.

Divine Inspection Technique!

[Sword Burial Necklace: A spatial storage weapon constructed with a star of sword intent as its core. It can absorb and store “deceased” swords before unleashing them after being charged with energy.

[“Deceased” swords are swords that previously had owners, but their owners have since perished. Without an owner, the sword slowly loses its spirit, upon which it can be referred to as a deceased sword.]

“This…” An Lin was shocked.

Never would he have thought that this was a weapon that made use of deceased swords.

Deceased swords were quite rare, and most of them appeared on battlefields that were stained by blood and death. However, all of the antiquated swords here coincidentally appeared to be deceased swords…

An Lin looked at all of the flying swords that were being vaporized by his Divine Flame, and his heart instantly began to throb. These were all treasures! He immediately withdrew his Divine Flame before refining the necklace and throwing it into the air.

“Come! I’ll take all of you!”

He activated the necklace’s spatial storage ability with all his might.

A dark blue light erupted from the Sword Burial Necklace, which transformed into a blue hole.

The entire ground below began to tremor and quake!

Countless antiquated swords pulled themselves out of the ground before surging like an ocean of swords into the blue hole unleashed by the necklace, where they then disappeared.

Ten thousand, a hundred thousand, a million, a hundred million…

That’s right, all of the flying swords in this entire world began to surge toward the blue hole, and there seemed to be no end to them!

An Lin’s excitement was tinged with a hint of concern. Where did such an unfathomable quantity of deceased swords come from? The mystery surrounding this place had An Lin both intrigued and a little worried…

Lan Xiaoni stared blankly at the scenes unfolding before her, and tears began to well up in her eyes.

Even an idiot would be able to tell that this was a super bad*ss treasure!

And she had just missed out on this super bad*ss treasure!

Lan Xiaoni’s heart throbbed with pain, but she couldn’t do anything about it.

An Lin couldn’t be bothered to consider the feelings of cannon fodder like her. He continued to absorb deceased swords.

After being absorbed into and nurtured by the Sword Burial Necklace, the deceased swords would be able to unleash much more fearsome might than before. Furthermore, their power would be enhanced as their master’s power in the dao of the sword improved.

This was a spatial treasure with extreme evolutionary potential.

From a practical point of view, this treasure definitely exceeded most immortal tools!

To think that he would come across such an incredible treasure having only just entered the tomb.

An Lin was starting to look forward to encountering all the other treasures in here…
