Chapter 592: The Accidental Assist

Translator: Henyee Translations  Editor: Henyee Translations

There were only eight people left standing on the seventieth level of the Immortal Spirit Tower.

Liu Qianhuan, Liu Yuan, Tang Ximen, Zuo Qiubing, An Lin, Xu Xiaolan, Xuanyuan Cheng, and Su Qianyun.

Tang Ximen looked up into the air with a scorching gaze in his expression. “I’m no longer the same person I was a year ago. I’m definitely going to get past level seventy this time!”

A bit of anticipation was building in An Lin’s heart as well. He wanted to see just how powerful the divine-intent warriors would have to be to defeat Senior Student Tang.

Outside the Immortal Spirit Tower, a huge crystalline screen hung in the air. It was displaying the scenes taking place within the Immortal Spirit Tower.

All the fallen students had regained consciousness and were spectating the battles on the large screen from outside the tower.

They couldn’t participate in the battle themselves anymore. However, just by watching the battles between the prodigy students and the divine-intent warriors would be quite beneficial for their own Dao observation.

“There are only two people left from our year.”

“The third-year students are absolute monsters this year. Out of the eight people left inside, four of them are third-year students.”

“Do you all think Senior Student Liu Yuan will make it into the Hall of Fame this time?”

“It’s going to be hard… After all, he’s only at the Spirit Nurturing Final Stage.”

Just as all the students were discussing among themselves…

Boom!

The vital energy suddenly surged within the Immortal Spirit Tower as eight figures with extremely vast auras appeared in the air above.

An expression of excitement appeared on An Lin’s face. These were all Return to Void Stage divine-intent warriors, so it was no wonder that Senior Student Tang would fall here. This was a huge leap from the Soul Formation Opponents they had faced earlier!

Although they were only wisps of divine intents, the battles were going to be quite challenging as An Lin and the others had only one percent of their normal strengths.

Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh!

All eight divine-intent warriors streaked through the air in unison.

The divine-intent warrior charging toward An Lin was a man wielding a metallic mace.

He swung his mace toward An Lin as his mountainous aura crushed down with mighty force upon An Lin.

An Lin felt his blood surge in his body, and even his Earth Lotus Supreme Skill was forced into activation. This fearsome attack was imbued with the mighty power of the earth.

“Nice!” An Lin was getting a little excited.

Only through battling opponents like this could he accumulate worthwhile combat experience.

The insignia of a golden lotus appeared on his forehead when the Earth Lotus Supreme Skill was activated automatically by his body of the War God. His fists began to glow with a golden light, and the formidable aura emanating from his body threatened to tear apart heaven and earth.

This was the first time An Lin had used the power of his initial success stage body of the War God. He felt like his opponent was worthy of such an attack.

The mace fell and cracks began to appear in the space around An Lin.

An Lin immediately sent a fist glowing with scintillating golden light flying toward the oncoming mace.

Boom!

An earth-shattering boom reverberated throughout the seventieth level of the Immortal Spirit Tower.

The mace collided with the golden light, creating a monstrous shockwave that proliferated outward as the devastating power behind the golden light instantly pulverized the mace as well as its wielder.

The golden light did not stop there. It continued onward, leaving a trail of brilliant golden light in its wake.

Boom!

Another earth-shattering boom erupted.

A woman holding a longsword was struck by the golden light, and she flew through the air like a cannonball before crashing into the wall of the tower. Her body then slowly dissipated.

An Lin was a little dumbstruck at the scenes unfolding before his eyes. “D… double-kill?”

Tang Ximen’s expression also mirrored An Lin’s expression.

He turned with a completely lost expression toward An Lin as if to say “who am I? Where am I? Why did my opponent suddenly die?”

He was just engaged in an earth-shattering battle when his opponent was blasted to death by a golden fist projection. What the hell should he do?

Outside the Immortal Spirit Tower, all the students drew a collective sharp intake of breath.

“Is this the legendary killing two birds with one stone? That’s awesome!”

“The Tamer of Divine Lightning is indeed formidable!”

“As expected, God An is still the most powerful student in the entire school. But what is Student Tang going to do now?”

“The rules state that intentional interference with another student’s battle would result in disqualification. However, God An simply effected an accidental double-kill with his badassery, so he shouldn’t be disqualified, right?”

Just as An Lin and Tang Ximen were staring at each other with dumbstruck expressions…

At this moment, a white-robed elderly man appeared in between the two of them. He was the guardian of this restricted area, Bai Zhong.

Bai Zhong looked at An Lin, then at Tang Ximen, and his face convulsed slightly.

He turned to Tang Ximen first before interrogating in a stern voice, “Did you plan this out with him?”

Tang Ximen was about to burst into tears upon hearing this. “No! I don’t know anything! I was just engaged in an intense battle when my opponent mysteriously died…”

Bai Zhong then turned to look at An Lin. “Was that intentional?”

An Lin shook his head. “It wasn’t. I was simply unable to control my strength…”

Bai Zhong glowered at An Lin as he took a deep breath. “You can’t even control your own strength? Are you a little child?! What if you’re fighting on a densely-packed battlefield in the future, and you hurt someone innocent with your lack of control?! How can a person who can’t even control their own strength observe their Dao?”

“And you!” Bai Zhong pointed to Tang Ximen before pointing at An Lin again and said, “Couldn’t you two have battled further away from one another? This is such a large space, and all your strengths have been restricted to one percent, so this would not have happened had you both stood further away from one another…”

Bai Zhong unleashed a long, rambling rant as Tang Ximen and An Lin hung their heads in shame.

After a prolonged scolding, Bai Zhong finally seemed to have vented all his negative emotions, and he heaved a long sigh before snapping, “Make sure this doesn’t happen again!”

His body disappeared on the spot as his voice trailed off.

An Lin heaved a sigh of relief before turning to Tang Ximen with an apologetic expression. “Sorry, Senior Student Tang. I didn’t mean to interfere with your battle.”

Tang Ximen shook his head with a blank expression. “Th… that’s ok.”

He then turned to look around at his surroundings, as if he was in a bit of a daze. “So I passed through the seventieth level just like that?”

“That’s right. Congratulations, Senior Student Tang,” An Lin congratulated him while smiling.

Tang Ximen pursed his lips. “All I wanted to do was to prove that I’m different from the person I once was a year ago. I’ve finally progressed beyond level seventy… but why do I not feel a single shred of joy…”

An Lin: “…”

An Lin didn’t know what to say.

Senior Student Tang didn’t seem very pleased with his assist…

Xu Xiaolan, Liu Qianhuan, Xuanyuan Cheng, Su Qianyun, and Zuo Qiubing all finished their battles in quick succession.

Liu Yuan from the fifth-year cohort was only at the Spirit Nurturing Final Stage. He was gradually being ground down by his Return to Void Stage divine-intent opponent.

However, the longer the battle progressed, the brighter his eyes lit up. It was clear that he was getting a lot out of this battle.

Fifteen minutes later, Liu Yuan was defeated.

He looked around at the Immortal Spirit Tower with a hint of disappointment in his eyes. He was unable to immortalize himself into the university’s Hall of Fame after all…
