Chapter 716: A Mad Rush for Survival

“Master, what do we do now?”

Dong Guo turned a worried glance behind him while Da Bai had already adopted his miniature form and was sprawled over An Lin’s head.

“Aren’t you a Return to Void Stage mighty figure? Why are you asking a Soul Formation Stage cultivator like me?!” An Lin snapped.

Dong Guo: “…”

An Lin heaved a forlorn sigh. “We can only hope now that we can find some allies from the Four Nine Immortal Sect or the Green Wood Imperial Family before they catch up to us. Otherwise, we’re actually going to be screwed!”

Crack…

Another spatial rift opened up ahead of them.

An Lin and Dong Guo immediately fled in another direction!

Return to Void Stage mighty figures were only able to spatially teleport to a set location, so by the time the mighty figure had torn open the spatial rift, An Lin and the others would have already gotten far away. As such, if it was over a short distance, it was actually better to just pursue the target by flying.

When Shuang Yukong finally stepped out of the spatial rift, An Lin and the others had already become a black spot on the horizon.

Shuang Yukong harrumphed coldly as his body transformed into a frosty streak of white light before giving chase again.

An Lin and the others switched the direction toward which they were escaping, and the four mighty figures began playing a game of cat and mouse with them. However, no matter how much they struggled, they could not get any further away. Instead, the gap between the two parties was constantly closing.

“We can’t keep going like this, Master! We won’t be able to escape!” Dong Guo was starting to panic. The slowly closing gap gave him a sense of a timer ticking down to his death.

An Lin didn’t say anything, and he didn’t fly out any further away from the mountain either. Instead, he suddenly began to fly around the mountain.

Within the mountain, An Lin detected that familiar aura once again. However, it was only for a split second, and it was not very clear.

But he could only take a gamble now!

If it really was her, then perhaps she could help him!

“Oh? They’re flying toward the mountain? Aren’t they just cornering themselves?” Duan Hunzi chuckled with glee as he continued in pursuit of An Lin.

The other three mighty figures were also quite pleased to see this, and they too unleashed a series of divine abilities to enhance their speed.

“Master, why are you flying toward the mountain? It’ll be more difficult for us to evade them with this gargantuan mountain in the way!” Dong Guo yelled in panic.

“Shut up and follow me!” An Lin snapped.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh…

An Lin and the others skirted around the massive mountain as the mighty figures behind them gradually closed in. Duan Hunzi was unleashing a series of black soul slashes toward them, but An Lin managed to evade all of his attacks.

“There!” An Lin discovered a huge cave, and he was able to detect with his divine sense that there were a series of tunnels within.

He immediately dove into the cave without hesitation, and Dong Guo could only grit his teeth as he followed along.

Dong Guo had no choice now but to follow An Lin everywhere he went.

The temperatures within the pitch-black cave were extremely high. An Lin had only flown a few hundred meters, but the temperatures had already sweltered to above a hundred degrees Celsius.

“Big Brother An, this is such a weird place! Woof!” Da Bai couldn’t help but marvel.

As they continued onward, a faint green light began to glow from within. The green light emanated from the rock formations and revealed to everyone the strange, jagged rock formations around them.

“Why did we come in here? We’re trapped now!” Dong Guo turned to An Lin with a resentful expression as he spoke.

“Shut up and conceal your aura! Otherwise, the enemies are going to find you with their divine senses!” An Lin scolded.

Everyone immediately concealed their auras. Within this pitch-black cave, visibility was at an absolute minimum. As long as they concealed their auras, it would be quite difficult for their enemies to find them. This was the case even if their enemies were Return to Void Stage mighty figures.

Soon, An Lin came to a crossroads leading to a series of different tunnels.

“There are so many! Which way do we go?” Dong Guo asked in a panicked voice.

An Lin made a recollection of the general direction he had detected that familiar aura from before pointing toward one of the smaller tunnels. “That one!”

Duan Hunzi arrived at the crossroads right after them, and the massive comical face crashed into the opening of the tunnel before imploding.

“Oh… my Death God’s smile, to think you would perish in this accursed cave! Let me avenge you! I will capture An Lin and use his dead soul as a sacrifice to you!” Duan Hunzi wailed with grief.

Soon, Bai Pengzi, Celestial Maiden Fei Ying, and Shuang Yukong also arrived at the cave.

“Oh, how interesting. It looks like he came to the cave to play hide and seek. Make sure you don’t get caught by me.” A seductive smile appeared on Celestial Maiden Fei Ying’s face.

Her eyes suddenly turned a piercing red, and it was as if they could pierce through the darkness and everything before her.

“It’s just a futile struggle.” Bai Pengzi flew like the wind as he went into the cave.

Shuang Yukong transformed into a frosty streak of white light and entered the cave right on his heels.

After arriving at the crossroads with countless tunnels, all four of them were a bit hesitant.

Duan Hunzi waved a hand to unleash countless spirits that flowed into the tunnels, with about three spirits allocated to each tunnel.

Bai Pengzi brought out a simulation artifact and waved it through the air before flying toward a certain tunnel.

Shuang Yukong was quite sensitive to temperatures, and after a brief hesitation, he picked one of the smaller tunnels.

Celestial Maiden Fei Ying remained rooted to the spot as her eyes flashed with light before surveying each of the tunnels one by one.

After a short while, she also stepped forth into a certain tunnel.

An Lin and Dong Guo continued onward as fast as they could, and the green light up ahead seemed to become more intense as they forged ahead. Even the temperatures had risen by quite a bit. It was as if they were approaching a fiery cauldron.

“Big Brother An, are you sure there are allies up ahead? Woof!” Da Bai asked with concern.

“Don’t worry. I’ve detected her presence, and there’s no mistaking it,” An Lin said as he consoled Da Bai with a gentle smile.

Dong Guo heaved a sigh of relief upon hearing this, but he was also a little indignant.

Why was Master more gentle to a dog than he was to him? Did that mean that he was inferior to a dog?!

“Roar!”

A dark green python suddenly sprang out from the darkness before charging toward the miniature Da Bai.

Whoosh!

A dazzling sword projection instantly sliced the python in half.

Dong Guo sheathed his sword elegantly before turning to An Lin with a smug expression.

However, he was greeted by the sight of an expressionless face. Most importantly, there was a hint of disdain in An Lin’s eyes. It was as if he was looking at a retard.

Not only An Lin, but even Da Bai heaved a forlorn sigh and slapped a paw to his face.

“What?” Dong Guo was a little baffled.

“Unleashing your power like this will result in a lot of energy fluctuations. What if our enemies detect the energy fluctuations and find us as a result? Woof!” Da Bai explained.

Dong Guo: “…”

That was very valid. Why hadn’t he thought of that?

“Even a dog has better critical thinking skills than you do. Sigh, there’s no saving you!” An Lin sighed with disappointment.

Dong Guo’s body swayed slightly upon hearing this. He really wanted to retort, but there was no f*cking way that he could!

After continuing onward for a while longer, the tunnel began to expand.

Finally, they came to a large chamber, which was glowing with the light of green flames.

There was a metal gate at the end of the chamber, which was tightly shut, in front of which was a silver figure.
