Chapter 1221: An Lin’s Fan

They were going to the same destination?

An Lin and Da Bai came to a sudden realization.

No wonder this guy was so insistent on following them. No matter where Da Bai flew, he flew too. It all made sense now!

The male cultivator behind them was on the brink of tears. No wonder that white dog had been flying ahead of him this entire time. Was he going to be abused for the rest of the trip as well?

Da Bai was excited as he wiggled his backside around. “Are you regretting using that disdainful expression to look at me now? Let Daddy show you what true despair looks like!”

The male cultivator joined his hands in salute as he apologized through gritted teeth, “My apologies for any offense I might’ve caused. I am genuinely sorry!”

He knew what he should do and what he shouldn’t do at a time like this.

They were traveling toward the same destination, so it would be unwise to continue bickering over something like this.

Besides, he was initially at fault. He really did cast a disdainful gaze toward the big, white dog, which could be construed as an insult, so he should deliver an apology anyway.

He was a man who knew when to swallow his pride, and he made what he felt to be the most correct decision.

A content smile appeared on Da Bai’s face after receiving the man’s apology. “See? That wasn’t so hard, was it? You know, it’s really hard for me to force myself to fart over and over again like that!”

The male cultivator’s lips twitched, but he didn’t say anything.

He was thinking that after he completed this mission, he was going to have a dog meat feast!

The battle between the flying dog and the flying sword came to a conclusion with the flying dog emerging as the victor.

There was no point for Da Bai to work so hard and fly so fast anymore, so his tail corkscrew propeller stopped spinning and reverted back to the snowy white, bushy tail it once was.

The male cultivator finally managed to catch up to Da Bai.

He turned with a curious expression to look at the cultivator riding atop the dog. He had been too complacent earlier and didn’t notice what the cultivator looked like. However, he was now really curious to see just what sort of person could be the owner of such an infuriating dog!

Upon seeing the cultivator riding atop the dog, an expression of shock appeared on the male cultivator’s face, and he almost fell off his sword from the fright he was given.

“An… An Lin!?” the male cultivator exclaimed with astonishment.

“Oh, you recognize me?” A faint smile appeared on An Lin’s face.

“I do! Of course I do! I’ve gazed with reverence upon your portrait in the ‘Nine States Magazine’ countless times!” The man was trembling with excitement as he spoke with a scorching light in his eyes. At the same time, there was a sense of fear lingering in his heart.

He just flexed in front of an exceptional sword immortal! Did he want to f*cking die!

Thank God An Lin was quite easy-going. Otherwise, he would most likely be dead by now.

An Lin’s expression remained tranquil at the sight of the arrogant male cultivator who had now transformed into a frenetic fan. “Flying is just a mode of transportation, and there’s no fundamental difference to sword kinesis flight and dog kinesis flight. There is no need to focus on all of these things as long as you’re improving in areas that matter. Understand why a sword is a sword, and don’t just look down on everything that isn’t a sword!”

The male cultivator’s eyes lit up, and he bowed with excitement. “Thank you for your teachings, Sword Immortal An Lin! Listening to your words has provided me with more enlightenment than cultivating for ten years!”

A profound smile appeared on An Lin’s face.

He had just pulled that entire spiel completely out of his a*s, so God knew what enlightenment that male cultivator had attained.

Things were like that sometimes. Back when you were a no-name cultivator with no achievements, no one would heed your advice. However, when you became successful, whatever you said would be construed as extremely profound teachings.

Even if it didn’t make any sense, the listeners would force it to make sense in their own minds.

“May I ask what business you have for traveling to the Dead Spirit Demonic Land, Sword Immortal An Lin? If there is anything I can do, I would be more than happy to offer my assistance!” the male cultivator spoke with a diligent, fawning expression.

“Er… You are?” An Lin asked.

“Ah, I forgot to introduce myself, how rude of me.” An awkward expression appeared on the male cultivator’s face. “I am one of the eighteenth generation disciples of the Heavenly Sword Sect. My name is Sun Yuluo.”

Sun Yuluo then immediately backtracked as if he was worried that he had offended An Lin. “But please don’t take that to heart. Even though I am a disciple of the Heavenly Sword Sect, I hold no hostility toward you. On the contrary, I admire you very much!”

An Lin knew that Sun Yuluo was referring to the bad blood he had with Liu Mingxuan.

He didn’t really care about that. “What are you traveling to the Dead Spirit Demonic Land for?”

Sun Yuluo replied, “I’m traveling to the Dead Spirit Demonic Land in order to search for an ancient sword that has escaped from our sect.”

“An ancient sword can escape on its own?” An Lin was astonished.

Sun Yuluo nodded with a wry smile. “None of the ancient swords within the Myriad Sword Tomb have their masters. However, one of them suddenly nurtured a spirit and ran away… As it’s a yin-type dead spirit sword, we predicted that it would most likely have traveled to the Dead Spirit Demonic Land… Pretty much all of the errant sect disciples have been deployed.”

An Lin nodded upon hearing this. So this was an ancient sword that had nurtured a spirit, just like Little Xie.

Ancient swords nurturing spirits were extremely rare events.

As the number one sword sect of the Kingdom of the Nine States, the Heavenly Sword Sect would undoubtedly value a sword that had nurtured a spirit very highly. As such, it was not strange that the entire sect was deployed.

An Lin: “I’m going to the Dead Spirit Demonic Land in order to find a red mountain from which blood erupts once every decade. Do you know about this mountain at all?”

“A blood-erupting mountain?!” Sun Yuluo shuddered as his face paled. “How could there be such a terrifying mountain? Are you telling a ghost story? Please don’t scare me, Senior!”

An Lin: “…”

An Lin could tell that Sun Yuluo’s fear was not feigned. Could it be that he really was that petrified of ghosts?

If that was the case, then why would he come to the Dead Spirit Demonic Land? Was he masochistic?

The Dead Spirit Demonic Land was renowned for ghost sightings…

An Lin silently surveyed the map in his storage ring. He only knew that the red mountain was located in the central region of the Dead Spirit Demonic Land. He would just have to find the specific coordinates on his own.

“I’ll have a look at it myself.” An Lin didn’t have any high hopes for Sun Yuluo anyway.

Sun Yuluo stared at An Lin with scorching eyes. “Senior! Please take me with you! I’m willing to do anything for you!”

“That’s alright, you go complete your mission,” An Lin said as he rejected him.

“Please don’t send me away. You are the sword immortal I revere the most! Can you please just let me stay by your side? In any case, neither of us has any sense of direction in this place anyway…” Sun Yuluo pleaded.

An Lin’s lips twitched. “You may revere me, but that doesn’t mean I want to take you with me. There are countless people that revere me…”

Sun Yuluo had no response to this.

“Furthermore…” An Lin spoke with a hint of a smile on his face, “You’re a member of the Heavenly Sword Sect, but the person you revere the most is me rather than Liu Mingxuan… You’ve got a sense of humor, I’ll give you that!”

Sun Yuluo slapped his chest with an extremely sincere expression on his face. “Sword Immortal An Lin, my heart is true! You are more dazzling and eye-catching to me than the sect leader! How can I make you believe me?”

Da Bai shuddered at the sight of this borderline homosexual scene. “Big Brother An, should I accelerate and leave him behind? Woof!”

An Lin didn’t even get a chance to speak before Sun Yuluo offered in a hurried voice, “Sword Immortal An Lin! I have a map of all of the explored territories within the Dead Spirit Demonic Land.”

An Lin nodded with a smile. “Alright then, Little Sun. Seeing as you’re so sincere and genuine, I’ll take you along with me!”

“Thank you, Sword Immortal An Lin!” Sun Yuluo spoke with excitement.

Da Bai: “…”
