"I'm living a carefree life? Do you know what I went through over the past year getting over my parents' death? You see me dress well, so you think I am living a carefree life?" Jia Li asked a little hurt.
Fu Hua wanted to intervene, but he felt that Jia Li needed to sort things out with her Aunt. He could only stand beside her in case she needed help, of which he wouldn't delay throwing Mu Keer out.
"Are you not living a good life? Can you deny that fact? You are really heartless!" Mu Keer said in anger.
"You tried to sell my father's property, but you don't feel you were heartless as well?" Jia Li asked.
"I have to feed your cousins and train them, so I need money. What I did wasn't wrong. You also imprisoned my husband, wasn't that enough for you?" Mu Keer asked with her hands on her waist.
Jia Li could see very well what kind of relative she had, and she felt glad Grandfather Fu rescued her on time.
"Aunty, you are not a good person. But I will advise you to work hard to provide for your children since your husband is never coming back."
"When you put your uncle in prison, did I come to quarrel with you? I was not happy I wouldn't see my husband, but I had to accept your decision, but then we need a way to survive. But do you have to rub it on my face that your uncle is never coming back?" Mu Keer asked in an angry tone while pointing at her.
"He is not my uncle. If you didn't insist on marrying him and listened to grandfather, he wouldn't have caused my parents' death and ruined our family, and you would have been living a good life." Jia Li pointed out for her.
Mu Keer scoffed as she said, "Did your parents tell you that? They are both wrong! If they hadn't made the same mistake I did, they wouldn't have ended up in the ground so early!"
"Enough!!!" Fu Hua said in a cold tone as he was very angry. He felt that Mu Keer was very rude, and she didn't have respect for the dead.
Mu Keer rolled her eyes and looked away. Jia Li looked hurt to hear her speak about her parents like that.
"Aunty, what are you trying to say? What mistakes did my parents make for you to talk about them in this manner?" Jia Li asked as she wiped her tears.
"Am I the only one who didn't listen to my parents about my marriage partner? What about your mother who canceled the marriage with her fiance and eloped with my brother, which caused a lot of problems for her family?" Mu Keer revealed.
Jia Li was shocked by this revelation because her parents never mentioned anything about it. She has always thought her mother came from a simple family, and so they were late. But how would she have known that something like this happened?
Fu Hua was also surprised by this revelation, but he really knew how to mask his facial expressions well.
Seeing the shock in Jia Li's eyes, Mu Keer laughed out loud. Then with a taunting smile, she said to her...
"Are you very surprised that your parents could act like that? When my father was still alive, he accepted them, but he couldn't accept my choice. Can you see the reason why I don't care about any of them?" Mu Keer asked.
Fu Hua could no longer stand and listen to Mu Keer, as he had finally exhausted his patience. And there was no way he would allow Jia Li to continue to be hurt with her Auntie's harsh words, so he decided to bring her away.
"Didn't you see the significant differences between both marriages, or is your insight blind as well? This should be the last warning you will get on a good note. If you try to sell anything that belongs to Jia Li, you will join your husband for some time." Fu Hua said in a cold tone before bringing Jia Li away.
Mu Keer wasn't completely a fool as she heard and understood the threat in Fu Hua's words.
He just said he would put her in prison the next time she tried to sell the house.
Mu Keer didn't know how long she stood there because when she came back to her senses, Jia Li, Fu Hua, and the soldiers were long gone.
"Why is everything I do wrong? Why is there no one supporting me?" Mu Keer asked herself.
"This girl is so mean. After getting married to a rich husband, she became so heartless and doesn't care about her cousins. What a wicked girl!" Mu Keer muttered under her breath, then she glanced at the house one more time before leaving with a big grudge in her heart.
In the car, Fu Hua passed another handkerchief to Jia Li to let her wiped her face.
Jia Li was still thinking back to what her Aunt just revealed to her. And she still couldn't believe her mother would do something like that.
Fu Hua could tell what she was thinking about, so he tried to comfort her.
"Jia Li, don't dwell on what your Aunt said to you, and even if it's true, there may be more stories to it. You trust your parents, and you believe they are not people like that, so there must be a reason they eloped and got married."
Jia Li indeed felt comforted by his words, and she glanced at him with an appreciated look.
Yes, she believes that if her parents eloped, then they did that for a reason, and there was a reason they didn't tell her about it.
Jia Li's parents did elope, and they decided not to tell Jia Li about it, because they didn't want her to worry and, also because of other important reasons.
Before Jia Li and Fu Hua got to the Fu Villa, she had already stopped crying and had covered her emotions.
Jia Li wanted to meet with her friends, but she felt the situation wasn't right, and they may not be available since she didn't inform them about her arrival.
After having lunch, Jia Li and Fu Hua rested before leaving for City X.
