He has been scammed by the people he gave a huge scoop that would have made them very popular and also money-wise.

The worst and most painful part is that he was not given any reason.

Carlos spent a few minutes digesting the outcome of the reporters' actions before going to find Alix in her bedroom.

"Have you spoken to them?" She asked whilst rolling her eyes at him as she thought he had come with good news at last.

Carlos wasn't in the mood to pamper the situation, so he revealed it straight to her.

"I tried calling the reporters a few minutes ago but their numbers were not reachable. We have been scammed."

Alix's facial expression turned ugly as she asked, "What do you mean we have been scammed? Didn't you meet with the reporters before they went to meet that woman for an interview?"

"I met with them." Carlos replied.

"And so you didn't know they had the intentions of scamming you?" Alix asked while pointing her fingers at him. She couldn't believe this huge plan of hers to ruin Jia Li's reputation would fall apart like this.

"How would I know they had this kind of intention? It's not like I can see into the future or read their thoughts." Carlos said.

Alix placed her hands on her waist after she got to her feet, and began to have around. "How could those lousy people scam a first-class graduate lawyer like you? This can never be heard anywhere!"

Carlos went to sit on the sofa opposite her bed and crossed his legs which agitated Alix further.

"Who told you that you could sit? As the owner of the room, I am standing on my feet because I am restless as a result of our failed plans but you, you are sitting like this has nothing to do with you."

Carlos looked at her and said, "What do you want me to do? I should at least sit and think about this situation properly and come up with an alternative solution."

"What else is there to think about?" Alix asked. If not for the kind of complicated relationship she has with Carlos, she would have fired him or rained abuses on him.

"I don't think this situation is as simple as it looks. I feel that the Fu family must be aware of this interview and hence, taken care of the matter!" Carlos said to her after a deep thought.

Hearing him mention the Fu family, Alix was alarmed and immediately rushed to his side to ask, "Are you saying that the Fu family are aware of that video?"

"Yes, if not, what do you think could be the reason those reporters haven't published the article and the video when it would also be in their favor?" Carlos said as he tried to reason with her.

Alix slowly calmed down as she tried to make sense of what Carlos had just said. She spent some seconds thinking about the Fu family getting involved and saw how possible it was.

"If the Fu family is aware of this matter, then there will be a big problem. We have to make sure they don't find out about my involvement in this matter." Alix said a little tense while squeezing her fingers.

"That's what I'm thinking about. I'm going to erase every record of our meeting with that woman and the reporters. I was in disguise when I met the reporters but that woman saw my real face, so I have to do something about it." Carlos said.

"Well then get to work immediately. Call that woman and know where she is. Given the situation, we have to make sure she never opened her mouth to say someone put her through the interview." Alix said.

Carlos shook his head and said, "I hope we are not too late."

As he said that, he whipped out his phone from his pocket and dialed Mu Keer's number. After ringing for a while, no one answered.

"Where did she leave her phone!" Alix said angrily. She was in a hurry to get rid of any evidence that would link her to the matter.

She was never prepared for this, never! This took her completely unawares.

"You know how she is, she must have left the phone at home and gone out. She has so many creditors who would snatch any other valuable thing she has as a way to force her to pay them." Carlos said.

Normally, Mu Keer doesn't take the phone that was given to her outside the house and while indoors, she hides it away in case of any creditor that would break in to search for anything valuable to take.

This was what Carlos thought, not knowing that the matter was beyond his thoughts.

"Well then, contact her again as soon as possible. It's either we get rid of her or give her money to a hut her mouth. But I don't think she will be able to shut her mouth no matter the money we give to her because once she gets into the hands of the Fu family, it is over!" Alix said with much wisdom.

Getting rid of Mu Keer before the Fu family finds her would be the best and for the first time, Carlos agreed to arrange for it, if matters come to worst.

When Mu Keer's phone rang, the driver didn't do anything about it until they got to their destination.

When Mu Keer and her children were being carried out from the vehicle, he picked up the phone and handed it to Zimo.

"A private number called her thrice." The driver said.

"Thank you, I will take it up from here." Zimo said as he received the phone and checked it out. Immediately he saw the number, he snapped it with his phone and sent it to somebody before making a call.

"I sent you a number now, find out who it belongs to, it is part of the emergency investigation." Zimo said over the phone.

"Any news about the man that met with those reporters?" Zimo asked.

The person over the phone replied in a strict tone, "Not yet! We did a face match and it wasn't successful, he doesn't exist.. Please notify the Major about it as soon as possible."
