Chapter 180: Another Enemy for Life…maybe?
Deep in the Land of Water, a group of Kiri shinobi stood around a huge table that had a map of Kirigakure and its surroundings. These people were the leading figures of the fight against the current Mizukage, Yagura Karatachi.
So far, everything worked out rather well for the rebel army and they are steadily pushing back Yagura’s forces, but despite that, no one dared to be too enthusiastic, simply because Yagura hadn’t made a move yet. In a large-scale battle, there was nothing more dangerous than a Jinchuuriki, so the moment Yagura appeared on the battlefield things will get dangerous.
The only person in the rebel army that could fight against Yagura was Mei Terumi, the leader of the rebellion and possessor of two Kekkei Genkai’s, the Boil Style and the Lava Style. She was a tall mature woman with ankle-length, auburn hair and green eyes that were oozing confidence.
Truth be told, she didn’t want to fight her own people, but she couldn’t endure the way Yagura managed the village anymore, either. No matter how she looked at it, to her, it felt like Yagura was deliberately weakening Kirigakure, which didn’t make any sense to her at all. The only possible explanation was, that someone was controlling him, but she didn’t know anyone who could control someone as powerful as Yagura and neither did she have any proof for her theory.
The people in the room were just about to continue their discussion when Ao entered the room with a happy smile on his face. After greeting everyone in the room, he immediately started reporting.
“Mei-sama, I managed to find Zabuza Momochi and he agreed to help us.”
Mei’s eyes widened in surprise and a happy smile appeared on her face. She had some doubts about sending someone as vital as Ao away on a mission just before the real battle started, but her advisors insisted that having another one of the Seven Swordsman on their side would give a huge boost in morale to their people and would make appeasing everyone after the rebellion much easier, so she allowed him to leave and it appeared like the gamble was successful.
“Well done, Ao. Quickly, bring him.”
Moments later, Zabuza entered the room and he couldn’t help but feel slightly nostalgic when his gaze wandered over the people in the room. When he was still a Kiri shinobi, he was somewhat friendly with quite a few of them. Zabuza did a slight bow towards Mei and started talking.
“Mei Terumi, it is good to see you again. As Ao already said, I will be fighting by your side for now, but after the rebellion is over, I won’t be staying in Kirigakure.”
Mei’s eyes widened in surprise when she heard that Zabuza wouldn’t stay in Kiri, while the people around her had similar reactions.
“Why not? After this war is over, you could freely stay in Kiri without hiding yourself and you will be able to get your old rank back, as well.”
“That’s because he is working for me now and his daughter… *cough* weapon doesn’t want to leave either because of her boyfriend.”
A frown appeared on Zabuza’s face and he retorted without even thinking who he was talking to.
“I have already told you multiple times that Haku is just a wea…WHY ARE YOU HERE!?”
*CLANG*
Without a moment of hesitation, Zabuza drew his weapon and slashed it downwards, but before it could hit its mark, it was blocked by a pure white sword that was similar in size to Zabuza’s.
“Now, that’s just rude Zabuza. You didn’t honestly think that I would allow you to have all the fun by yourself, did you?”
Although no one in the room knew what exactly was going on right now, all of them were experienced shinobi, so the moment Zabuza drew his sword, they immediately surrounded the duo. At first, they thought that a strong enemy had followed Zabuza since he attacked the newcomer instantly, but that thought perished rather fast when Zabuza suddenly started quarreling with the new arrival.
“What do you mean with fun? This is a rebellion, a war. There is nothing fun about that, Yuna.”
After hearing Zabuza’s words, a surprised look appeared on Yuna’s face, and after a moment of pondering she nodded her head in agreement.
“Right, I got so excited about fighting the three-tails that I totally forgot about all that rebellion business. Oh well, it’s not like it actually matters to me.”
Before Zabuza could start ranting, Mei stepped forward and started talking.
“Zabuza, who is that and why did she come here with you.”
Although Mei had a pretty good idea who the young woman in front of her was, she still had some hope that she was guessing wrong. The sword that was used to block Zabuza’s sword, melting and turning into a puddle of water, certainly didn’t support her hope. One Jinchuuriki was already troublesome enough, but now, a second one appeared. If two Jinchuuriki were to fight each other, there might actually be nothing left of Kirigakure when this war was over.
Zabuza heaved a deep sigh and fixed his glare on Yuna.
“She is Yuna Uzumaki Namikaze, Konoha’s Jinchuuriki, the Matriarch of the Uzumaki clan, devoid of any common sense and a little insane.”
“Haha, the one and only.”
Meanwhile, back in Konoha, Tsunade was on her way back to the Uzumaki compound and she was incredibly nervous. She was constantly looking left and right as if she feared that someone would ambush her at any moment.
After she was done with her work today, she went out to have some fun and do some gambling, but after winning her tenth game in a row, she immediately quit. Something was wrong. Very wrong. But she didn’t know what it was.
The moment she entered the Uzumaki compound, one of the guards handed her a message and as soon as she received it, he immediately started sprinting away as fast as he could.
Tsunade’s heart sank when she saw that. What could have possibly happened for even the people of the Uzumaki clan to be this nervous. She opened the message and started reading immediately.
“Yo Tsunade, just wanted to tell you that I went to the Land of Water to fight the three-tails. Sorry about that and have fun 🙂
Sincerely Yuna”
Tsunade froze up when she finished reading Yuna’s little letter. Then, she read it again and again and again. Every time she reread it, she tried to pace her reading speed slightly differently or tried to say words with different pronunciations, but no matter what she did, the message didn’t suddenly mean something different.
As she kept rereading the letter, more and more of her chakra started leaking out of her, and moments later, she snapped. She raised her fist and smashed it into a wall, causing huge parts of the wall to collapse. She couldn’t hold it in anymore and a loud roar echoed over Konoha.
“I WILL DEFINITELY KILL YOU, YUNA UZUMAKI!!!”
