Chapter 400: Karin vs Hidan
A loud thud echoed over a clearing near Konoha’s sensing barrier as a tall man with grey hair and purple eyes was smashed face-first into the ground by a chain wrapped around his ankle.
“WHO WAS THAT!? COME OUT, YOU BASTARD!!! ”
Moments later, he managed to regain his bearing, stood up like nothing had happened, and immediately started yelling.
However, instead of a person appearing, six chains started lashing out at him, forcing him frantically block and dodge them with the massive scythe he was holding that was clearly not made for such a purpose.
“FACE ME, COWA…”
*SMACK*
Hidan started throwing another tantrum, resulting in him getting distracted and getting smacked into the face by one of the six chains, sending him crashing through multiple nearby trees.
Meanwhile, Karin looked at her opponent with a conflicted expression. Honestly, Hidan was an absolutely terrifying opponent if someone didn’t know what he was capable of. After all, allowing him to draw a single drop of blood was pretty much a death sentence.
If Karin hadn’t heard about his ability beforehand, she probably wouldn’t have started the fight with her chains and would have started slowly probing her opponent, which would have undoubtedly resulted in Hidan going for a suicide attack only to get a single drop of her blood. After all, he was immortal.
Then, after acquiring that drop of blood, he would have simply done his weird ritual and killed her before she could even understand what was going on.
She didn’t really get how Hisoka of all people managed to procure such vital information, but she wouldn’t complain about it either. Additionally, she was told that that information might be inaccurate, but so far, everything checked out perfectly, including Hidan’s immortality and unpractical weapon choice that was clearly created just to draw blood.
Actually, Yuna had told Karin why Hisoka had information like that, but while she did so, Karin was rather… distracted… by something else…
Anyway, since Karin was fully aware of Hidan’s abilities, she could only look at him in pity as he tried to block and dodge her chains frantically.
Not only was she fully aware of everything Hidan could do, but she was pretty much a perfect counter for him as well, making the situation even more pitiful.
An average shinobi would at most carry a kunai with them or at best a small sword, which would easily get overwhelmed by Hidan’s ridiculous weapon, but Karin had her chains, which made it child’s play to keep Hidan at a distance. And, on top of that, she specializes in seals, which was the perfect counter for Hidan’s immortality.
“YOU DAMN BITCH, GET OVER HERE SO I CAN SACRIFICE YOU TO JASHIN-SAMA!!!”
“Sorry, not interested. How about you surrender so that I can turn you into a test subject for Yuna-sama? She said that she is curious about your immortality, after all. Like that, you can at least be useful to someone worthwhile instead of your imaginary friend.”
“IMAGINARY FRIEND!? YOU DARE INSULT JASHIN-SAMA LIKE THAT!?”
“Wow, I’m honestly surprised that you managed to understand my insinuation. It seems like I have to increase the number of brains cell recorded in your profile by 50%, bringing you to a total of three. I’m impressed.”
As soon as Karin stopped speaking, Hidan saw red and charged towards Karin in reckless abandonment, completely ignoring the chains that were flailing his body in favor of landing a single hit on Karin.
“YOU WILL BE TODAY FIRST SACRIFICE, AND AFTER I’M DONE WITH YOU, I WILL GO AFTER THAT WORTHLESS BITCH YUNA WHO YOU ARE SO FOND OF AND KILL HER AS WELL!!! THE ONLY WORTH SHE HAS IS GETTING SACRIFICED TO JASHIN-SAMA!!!”
The moment Hidan finished speaking, the atmosphere on the battlefield changed. Hidan noticed that the number of attacks he received significantly decreased, causing him to smile in glee while thinking his words had intimidated Karin.
Moments later, he arrived in front of Karin and slashed down with his scythe while wearing a deranged expression on his face. He could already imagine Karin’s expression after using his ritual to kill her, causing his face to twist in glee.
Moments before his attack could reach Karin, a shockwave erupted from Karin’s body, resulting in every single part of her body getting covered in a complex arrangement of seals.
Nonetheless, Hidan continued his assault, prompting Karin to lift up her hand and block his attack barehanded, resulting in a small gash appearing on her hand. Although Hidan was surprised by the almost insignificant wound he caused, he didn’t care since that was more than enough.
“HAHAHA, TOO BAD FOR YOU, TIME TO GET SAC…*URGH*”
Before he could finish speaking, Karin’s other hand grabbed him by the neck and smashed him into the ground, causing a massive explosion.
“YOU DARE INSULT YUNA-SAMA, INSECT!?”
Naturally, Hidan was shocked by his opponent’s sudden switch in temperament. He looked into Karin’s eyes for a moment and could only shudder in disbelief when he saw a mixture of pure crystalized fury and insanity radiating off of Karin.
“What in th…”
*BOOM*
Before Hidan could say anything else, Karin’s fist smashed into Hidan’s face, causing another shockwave that obliterated everything around them.
“YOU DARE!?”
*BOOM*
“YOU DARE!?”
*BOOM*
“YOU DARE!?”
*BOOM*
Again and again, Karin punched Hidan into the face while her face twisted further and further into madness.
What should probably be mentioned at this point in time was that Karin was one of Tsunade’s disciples, meaning, she could use her strengthening technique. So, after only three punches, very little of Hidan’s face still remained, which didn’t seem to bother Karin in the slightest as she continued to pummel his lifeless body until she was satisfied.
After around two minutes, she stood up with an awkward expression on her face. She looked at the meat paste she turned Hidan into with a slightly guilty expression before deciding her next move.
‘Okay, no big deal. Everything is fine. I will just wait for a little until he regenerates to some degree and then seal him away. No one needs to know that I might have lost control a tiny teeny little bit.’
Karin was just about to sit down and patiently wait for Hidan to regenerate when another thought crossed her mind.
‘Or… I could tell Yuna-sama that I failed to control myself and hope for a delicious punishment.’
Karin’s face scrunched up as she started sinking deeper and deeper into her own thoughts.
‘Damnit, this is no joke! Which one is better? A reward for defeating an S-Rank shinobi or a punishment for losing control… Maybe…’
A gleam of ambition started shining in Karin’s eyes as she came to a conclusion.
“…. I will aim for both!”
