Chapter 212: Killing Bandits

“Oh? What do we have here? A bunch of young women that would like to serve us? Hehe, alright, let’s have…”

*Swish* *Splat*

“Stop looking at Yuna-sama with your dirty eyes, you piece of shit! Do you want me to kill you!?”

Before the person in front of them could even finish speaking, a chain shot out of Karin’s back and pierced him straight through the head, turning it into mush. Seeing this, Yuna couldn’t help but smile wryly.

“Well, I am not a medical expert, but I am pretty sure that guy died the moment you turned his head into soup, so that threat is a little bit redundant.”

Karin couldn’t help but blush a little while awkwardly looking away.

“When I saw that beast giving Yuna-sama dirty looks, my body moved on its own.”

Yuna could only scoff when she heard Karin’s excuse.

“Isn’t it you who usually gives me the dirtiest looks?”

A shiver of pleasure went through Karin’s body when she heard Yuna’s words.

“*Sigh* To think Yuna-sama would praise me like that. I will get a lot of use out of this memory…”

While Yuna and Karin were bantering with each other, Hisoka’s face paled due to seeing someone’s head explode in front of her. She might have seen equally brutal movies, but seeing something in real life was completely different from seeing it on a screen.

Yuna noticed Hisoka’s condition, but there was currently nothing she could do about that. In fact, Yuna predicted that Hisoka would react like that after seeing her first bloody scene. Living on a peaceful planet certainly doesn’t prepare someone to see blood and death. If Hisoka couldn’t push through her apprehension, she would have to stop being a shinobi.

After shaking her head to get rid of the idle thoughts, Yuna scanned her surroundings and noticed that the bandits had encircled them while they were idling around.

She noticed the attempt immediately but decided not to do anything against it. None of the bandits had a chakra level above genin, so Yuna wasn’t too worried about her genin. Additionally, all three of them have already noticed what was going on and prepared themselves for battle. Even the still pale Hisoka had determination burning in her eyes.

“Well, 18 people in total. None of them have more chakra than a genin, with only 5 of them reaching genin level. This fight is all yours while I sit back and watch. Have fun.”

The moment Yuna finished speaking, she simply vanished from where she stood. At the same time, the bandits started to attack the remaining three people.

Seeing that the bandits were actually attacking the trio, Yuna could only shake her head in pity. She really wondered how these kinds of groups’ first idea was always an all-out assault. The Konoha symbol was clearly visible on all four of them, so they were obviously sent by Konoha. Did the bandits really think that Konoha would be willing to lose even a single shinobi against some random bandit? That would be beyond stupid, so these kinds of missions always have a considerable safety margin. As a result, it was pretty much impossible for bandit camps to wound even one person seriously. As for actually overwhelming the shinobi force that is after them? That’s beyond impossible.

The fight ended rather quickly. Karin’s chain was simply too overpowered compared to a bunch of mere bandits, while Sai’s drawn beast could do a lot of damage as well. Hisoka, who was using a changed form of the Gentle Fist Style, could easily defeat her enemies with one hit, but her reluctance to kill slowed her down significantly.

Seeing this, Yuna shook her head and reappeared on the battlefield after the fight was over. She casually picked up one of the bandits that Hisoka spared and dangled him in front of Hisoka.

“Kill him.”

Hisoka’s whole body shook when she heard Yuna’s words.

“I-Is that really necessary? He is already knocked out, so isn’t it fine?”

Yuna scoffed when she heard Hisoka’s naïve words but decided to humor her.

“Activate your Byakugan and take a look at the bandit’s camp.”

After doing precisely that, Hisoka’s face paled due to what she saw.

“This group has been harassing the nearby village for a while now. The only reason why Konoha found out about it is that one of the villagers managed to slip out and inform Konoha about the bandits without being noticed.”

“This group has been here for about a month now, freely pillaging whatever they want from the village. Who knows how many lives they have ruined up until now. Only by killing every one of them can you guarantee that the number of ruined lives won’t grow even further.”

“Some might argue that a few of them might not have done anything too wrong yet. Personally, I think if you want to work with that logic, then you are also the one who has to explain to someone who just got a member of their family killed that you didn’t kill the responsible bandit because you were waiting for him to do something terrible.”

“That being said…”

Yuna finished her monologue by raising her right hand and snapping her finger. This resulted in ice spears appearing above the heads of every still alive bandit except for the one Yuna was still holding.

“…only a dead bandit is a good bandit.”

The ice spears fell, piercing the heads of the people on the ground, killing them instantly.

Seeing the indifference in Yuna’s eyes while casually taking so many lives caused Hisoka to shudder.

‘Terrifying. I don’t think I could ever be this indifferent to taking a life. However, Yuna’s words are correct. I am not naïve enough to believe that one of these guys would suddenly switch sides and become a good person. If I want to continue as a shinobi, I need to be able to kill someone. Although I could claim that I would just do it at another time, it is much safer to get used to it here instead of getting into a dangerous situation later on and freezing up.’

“Well, I will put this bluntly. I am not willing to work together with someone who might freeze up if the situation gets dangerous and becomes a matter of killing or getting killed. Someone that can’t kill is not suited to being a shinobi. So make your choice, Hisoka.”

After Hearing Yuna’s words, Hisoka gritted her teeth and got into a fighting stance. After taking a few deep breaths to calm her nerves, her hand shot forward, hitting the person Yuna held on the chest where the heart was, killing him in the process.

After she realized what she had done, Hisoka sighed in relief…and then started puking…
