Chapter 204: Story of the Past
*Author Note*
A rather short chapter and only one minuscule joke. RIP.
*End of Author Note*
On an unremarkable planet, in an even less remarkable city, a small dirty girl was hiding away in a dark alley. Like a lot of people living in this part of the city, she was homeless and like a lot of children living here, she was an orphan.
Most people would just disregard her as another orphan, but the moment someone met her eyes, that person would shrink back instantly. White irises that seemed incredibly deep and pure, holding a will behind them that appeared to be unshakeable. This, combined with her deep blue hair would give her an incredible mysterious feeling if it weren’t for her dirty and old clothes.
It was a rather cold day, but the nameless young girl never cared about the cold. Or rather, she enjoyed it. She never understood the reason for it, but while other people would start trembling if the weather got too cold, she would only feel more comfortable. However, despite feeling comfortable in the cold, she always felt like something was missing. The colder it got, the closer she felt to it, but every time she felt like she was about to grasp it, winter ended and the days started getting hotter again.
Today, the girl felt closer to it than she ever felt in her life. Today she would finally grasp it. She could feel it.
She was sitting in a dark alley with her eyes closed and was trying to feel it yet again when a voice interrupted her attempts.
“Ohh? What do we have here?”
She would have scowled at the person that was interrupting her, but she realized that doing so wouldn’t be a good idea. She looked at the person who interrupted her and her eyes widened in amazement. Long flowing robe, refined looks, and a sword strapped to his back.
The girl might be just an orphan, but she certainly had heard people talking about the immortals that would occasionally visit the city. There was very little the young girl cared about, but she certainly admired the immortals and desired to be just like them. There were a lot of stories about immortals coming to big cities and picking up people to become their disciples and the young girl dreamed of the same happening to her, so she couldn’t help but get excited when an immortal appeared in front of her.
“Hello, great immortal.”
She, naturally, had no clue how to formally greet someone, so she simply said what she thought would be appropriate.
“Hehe, I thought your hair would be the only exotic thing about you, but your eyes are even more extreme, I can barely contain myself.”
“Barely contai…”
Before the young girl could ask any question, she was pushed against a wall, while a hand lifted up her chin.
“Hehe, that’s right. I love playing around with exotic-looking girls and you fit my taste perfectly. I might even allow you to become my sex slave if you put in enough effort.”
The moment the man stopped speaking, the image she had of immortals shattered. Her admiring gaze immediately shifted to one filled with utter disgust.
“Ohh, that’s a nice face you are making. Let’s see what your face will turn into after I am done with you.”
The girl didn’t understand why, but she couldn’t move her body at all, so she had no chance of resisting the person pushing her against the wall either, so all she could do was burn his face into her mind and seek revenge no matter what. Most commoners would probably laugh at her for even considering getting revenge against an immortal, but the young girl didn’t care about that. Despite her current position, her will was still burning brightly.
The so-called immortal was just about to remove the first part of her clothes when the girl felt something incredible comfortable touching her right hand. She looked at her right hand and saw a small, white thing that looked like a crystal.
“Ice…”
She had no idea why she said a word she didn’t know the meaning of, but the moment she did, it felt like everything clicked into place. The thing she has been searching for finally appeared and for the first time in her life, she felt complete.
“I see, so that’s how it is…”
“What are you mumbling about, has your mind alre…!!!”
Before her attacker could finish his sentence, a small icicle flew from the girl’s hand and pierced him straight through his neck. The girl swept away the hands that were holding her against the wall with disinterest, while the man’s eyes looked at her in disbelieve. Seeing her pure white eyes looking at him like he was an insignificant ant, he shuddered in fear, before losing his life.
“Immortal, huh? What a joke. Pathetic.”
The girl looked at the man she just killed with disgust clearly visible on her face. Although this was the first time she killed a person, that was not the reason for her disgust. She was disgusted at herself for once having admired these so-called immortals.
Without a moment of hesitation, the girl started plundering everything the man had that might be of value and then quickly vanished into the convoluted streets of the city.
‘Those immortals are just useless trash. I will find my own way and surpass all of them. There are only two options, death or success. No, there is only one option: Success. I will definitely succeed, no matter what it takes.’
The will and determination in her eyes became even stronger, causing her eyes to shine.
What the young girl didn’t know was, that the person she just killed was actually the grandson of an influential sect elder and, although the grandson was a wastrel, his grandfather still doted on him for some reason and will naturally seek revenge for his death.
And thus, started the legend of the “White-Eyed Demongirl”, “The Calamity of Ice” and finally, “The Goddess of Ice.”, who currently had the name of Yuna Uzumaki Namikaze and was living in a different world.
