Chapter 340: He Is So Selfish

Shen Yunya’s frail body leaned against Xi Jin. She sobbed as she said, “Since Brother Jin says that girl is my sister, it must be her. No one in this world knows her better than you do.”

“It has not been confirmed, so this is only a suspicion. Don’t be anxious, and we will look for her when you get better,” replied Xi Jin.

After hearing his comforting words, Shen Yunya calmed down considerably. She raised her head, and her pretty eyes looked at him in anticipation. “Brother Jin, why don’t you tell me more about my sister?”

Staring into her eyes, Xi Jin could not reject her. He nodded and said, “Her name is Tu Xiupei. She’s fifteen years old this year, and her powers have already reached the Advanced-stage Spiritual Master level. She is considered a genius there, and her personality seems similar to how she was in the past. Legend says that her fate is destined to be that of a phoenix who flies out of the Guiyuan Continent. However…”

“What?” Shen Yunya asked worriedly.

“I just feel like she isn’t as smart as she was before. Perhaps, other reasons have also led me to have some doubts.” When Xin Jin recalled how Tu Xiupei looked, he did not feel any intense emotion. However, he had searched for so long, and she was undoubtedly the best fit he’d found so far.

Shen Yunya quietly listened to Xi Jin’s description of Tu Xiupei, and her face was grave as she weighed everything he’d said for clues.

“Ya’er, do you really think that she may be Dai’er?” Xi Jin turned to Shen Yunya for advice. He had been stationed elsewhere for ten years. He only saw Dai’er once a year when they spent a few days together. Yunya must know Dai’er better than him, so it was best to ask her.

Shen Yunya shook her head and replied, “I don’t know, but I can get the high priest to give another forecast. No matter the price, I will give Brother Jin an answer this time. The only thing is, I may not be able to wait until my sister returns.”

“Ya’er…”

Shen Yunya stretched out her hands to cover Xi Jin’s mouth. There were tears in her eyes. She was still harboring hope. “Brother Jin, you don’t have to comfort me. My sister was so nice to me. These are all things that I should be doing.”

“Don’t worry Ya’er. Tomorrow I will go and plead for a Quick Healing Pill, and we will discuss everything again when you are better.” As he said this, Xi Jin lowered his head in shame. He was afraid to look directly at Shen Yunya. He was too selfish and wanted to know the outcome so badly that he was willing to hurt Ya’er in the process.

As he looked down, Xi Jin missed the flash of viciousness that Shen Yunya had expressed. How could Brother Jin be willing to sacrifice her for something so uncertain! It looked like she had once again underestimated Brother Jin’s love for Shen Qingdai.

It hadn’t been easy to get Shen Qingdai killed and to get Brother Jin all to herself. No one must be allowed to snatch Brother Jin away from her.

After staying for a while, Xi Jin left. He wanted to find a Quick Healing Pill to help Ya’er recuperate, and then…

Although this seemed very selfish, he did not have any other options. He was meant to let Ya’er down in this lifetime.

Once Xi Jin left, Shen Yunya lost her gentle and weak façade. However, her face remained pale as she laid back onto the chaise longue.

“Miss, do you think what the Crown Prince said…”

Shen Yunya raised her left hand. Looking at the pinkish scar on her wrist, a glimmer of coldness flashed in her eyes. “Send someone to investigate this Tu Xiupei.”

She had brutally cut herself and bled so much. She had not done this merely to entice Brother Jin into sparing a thought for her. She had done it to make him utterly devoted to her.

“But, what if it’s real?” the maid could not help but ask.

Shen Yunya’s sinister eyes were like a terrifying abyss. Her lightly curved lips were full of ruthlessness as she said, “To make someone suffer, one first has to give him hope. Then, let him fall deep into hopelessness.”
