Chapter 428: She Is Not A Pushover

After Feng Tianlan spoke those words, a warm spring breeze blew past. But instead of warming up the cold quiet atmosphere, it made the air colder.

The disciples of the Flying Frost Pavilion were shocked. They couldn’t help but glance at her with eyes full of admiration. She was courageous to challenge the headmaster and even declare in front of everyone that he was not worthy of being her master!

Such a bold disciple had never been found in all the history of the Flying Frost Pavilion. She was definitely the first!

“How arrogant!” Qi Hongan roared with fury. He gathered his spiritual force into his palm and released it at the vine-drawn words ‘YOU ARE NOT WORTHY’ in front of him.

As headmaster of the Flying Frost Pavilion for the past few decades, he had never been so thoroughly humiliated before. This was the first time. Moreover, this was happening in front of all his disciples at once, just because of Feng Tianlan.

Feng Tianlan retracted her vines and dodged sideways to avoid the headmaster’s strike. A ‘bang’ could be heard, a sound of something being cracked open, followed by a few screams.

“So, the headmaster wouldn’t mind killing his disciples if he’s in a bad mood,” Feng Tianlan jeered where she stood and let out a cold murmur of enlightenment. “Such a cold-hearted headmaster, sitting there with no remorse.”

Looking at the few disciples below him who have been injured by his palm force, his face crumpled unexpectedly. His old eyes flickered to Feng Tianlan furiously. “If you didn’t dodge the blow, I wouldn’t have injured them! This is all your fault.”

“You want me to stand there and let you kill me?” Feng Tianlan replied with a mocking gasp. Qi Hongan was an Advanced-stage Spiritual King. If she didn’t dodge and faced his palm force straight on, she would have been badly disabled, if not dead, from the impact of the blow.

“Having one person dead is a better sacrifice than the loss of many.” The ones who had been hit were among the elites of the Flying Frost Pavilion. If they were to die because of this, it would be a big loss. This was all Feng Tianlan’s fault.

Feng Tianlan gloated with exaggeration over Qi Hongan’s words, “Ah, the headmaster possesses the spirit of sacrificing oneself to save many.”

Only a shameless person like her would keep hacking at a fallen building.

“Presumptuous—”

Tu Xiupei kneeled abruptly in front of Qi Hongan, kowtowing and pleading, “Master, that is my eldest sister! She has made a grave mistake, please punish me instead.”

“Dad, don’t be mad because of the tactics of a low-life. She’s purposely trying to agitate you.” Qi Shujie regained his senses and pulled Qi Hongan’s hand—which was beginning to gather a great amount of spiritual force—downwards. “She is simply trying out some dirty tricks to agitate you into making a mistake, to take this opportunity to overthrow your position as headmaster.”

Feng Tianlan raised her eyebrow slightly. So, the two of them decided to play good-cop bad-cop. They were cooperating quite well and the story they came up with was corroborated perfectly too.

With the two of them anxiously talking him out of destroying her, Qi Hongan’s anger dissipated a little. His thoughts settled and cleared. He glared at Feng Tianlan with the intensity of a predator about to tear his prey apart.

“Dad, don’t fall for her provocation! Her name is on the jade tablet in gold, which means that she is already a member of the Flying Frost Pavilion.” Qi Shujie gave Feng Tianlan an ominous look as he persuaded his father, “No matter how talented she is, she obviously doesn’t have respect or good conduct. Ultimately, she is still unworthy of being a direct disciple.”

Feng Tianlan sneered. He didn’t intend to take her as a disciple in the first place. Using the word “unworthy” was just to add insult to injury.

Did they really think she was a pushover?

At the mention of the jade tablet, Qi Hongan appeared to have come to a conclusion that satisfied him. His anger dissipated instantly, and he regained the composure of a headmaster, looking down at Feng Tianlan magnanimously. “Because you are young, I will not make a fuss about the improper things you have said and done today. The only consequence of your behavior today is that you will lose your right to be a direct disciple or an internal disciple. From today onwards, you can only be an external disciple.”

Gu Nansheng stepped forward and advised in a deep tone, “Master, she is a Spiritual Grandmaster who can practice all three elements at the same time. Excluding him, Feng Tianlan is the only one in all of the Guiyuan Continent who can do that. You mustn’t inhibit the path of a talented disciple.”
